And Seacrest said that Natasja (pretend the "j" is an "h") actually died in a car accident last summer. Since I never listen to AT40, because I don't have the time and simply didn't have a desire to after Casey left, I didn't hear about this tragic news until today. In fact, I was told that Natasja died last year from my little sister this morning. It was sad to hear of such a young talent with uniquely amazing vocals die an untimely death.

I was hoping that Brooke Hogan/Paul Wall's "About Us" would have made the 100, the song seemed to have longevity at the turn of the year. I guess not, oh well.

You meant to say "Akon." I actually don't care for this at all. And I root for Wyclef. The Fugees' Score and his Carnival are fantastic. His albums drop off from there, but I haven't listened to the new record yet. (Couldn't he have just titled it Memoirs of an Immigrant instead of tagging it with the lame status of being some sort of album sequel? ) Ditto! Preach it! I couldn't have said it any better than that. ;D

I enjoy Sean Kingston's songs because he switch codes in them. The majority of his tracks are sung with an American singing voice but at times throughout the song he would revert to his Jamaican dialect. I find this amusing and charming. LOL! All of his songs have a "feel good" vibe. I love this! Sean Kingston hails from one of the most statistically dangerous cities in the world: Kingston, Jamaica. And there are plenty of ghettos, slums, and hoods to be talked about there. However, instead of focusing on the negative which may be the glorification of sex, drugs, and violence like many hiphop acts in urban environments experience, Sean Kingston sings with an optimistic view of life. I particularly find this commendable on Sean Kingston's part. In fact, "Take You There" has a very inspiring and refreshing message to young men in the urban community, to take responsibility for their women and show them a better way of life. My hats go off to him. In fact, if I ever was a pop musician - I'd probably want to project an image like Sean Kingston. Yeah mon Sean Kingston, what a Gwaan! LOL!

I love this song. It is great! Britney's first two tracks are really on point, I really enjoy them. I just wish she had her act together, she can start to get back on track by putting her panties on and not exposing her kitty kat. LOL! I'm looking forward to seeing the video for this song.

It looks like this track is going to mimic the pop success of Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz's "2004 hit "Get Low." It already has a huge "spincrease" at Mainstream. I always enjoy these crunk style tunes. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FQaJkMiSBjQ&feature=related

LOL! I felt bad for one of the Jonas Brothers who tripped during an appearance at Sunday's televised American Music Awards. I thought he recovered himself nicely after his fall and seemed to blend in to the rest of the performance.
However, I cringed when Jimmy Kimmel called him out on it during a segue joke. I didn't think he would have said anything about it. Maybe its due to the whole writers strike and his material being very thin to work with...LOL!
Anyway, I've given "S.O.S." a C+ in the report card topic, has a very catchy hook for pop, but too juvenile sounding for mainstream's adult demographic.

Eventhough I still like this song. I might be changing my opinions of advocating airplay of the song, in light of the Jamie Lynn pregnancy controversy. Lyrically "See You Again" might be pretty risky for play on pop radio, especially considering her age.

I do see your point here. But the thing is, back in my day, when we had people like Aaron Carter trying to make music, we had Radio Disney for that. Then there was the pop charts, and in between Radio Disney and the pop charts was both the the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall, side by side. It seems as though right now, with your Miley Cyrous and Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens all crossing over from Radio Disney, that the line separating the two is blurring up. And if you asked me, that's unfortunate. Even though I'm sure Miley Cyrus was born more talented than Aaron Carter ever became. That sounds fair enough. Although Ashley Tisdale is in her 20's and I'm sure she doesn't mind the credibility of having pop hits. I'm not sure how the Radio Disney chart is compiled and what data are taken into consideration. radio.disney.go.com/music/top30.html

I can't help but to try and avoid her music because I just don't stand for jack-of-all-trades material from someone who's probably at least 5 years from the age in which a person (not "she") becomes capable of creating quality music. *Nod* I think that is quite a valid point from your perspective and many other 20+ aged individuals. But it doesn't detract the fact that her target audience which is children (and their families) really love her and are buying her material. This group doesn't really make any distinction of precedence in music vs acting roles, etc. etc. All forms of entertainment seem to be fine and dandy to them. Not knocking what you said down, which was a very good point, I just enjoy playing the devil's advocate. In my personal opinion, I think "See You Again" has a sound that appeals to both children and adult demographics. But certainly my opinion isn't the end all.

It seems natural she would get a pop hit. She is one of the biggest things in music. Absolutely! She's huge indeed. It amazes me how those parents have taken desperate measures to get their children to see her in concert.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I was under the impression that Dancing with the Stars was for has-beens. His acting career does not solidify or re-establish his status as a country superstar and it's not high profile enough to earn him superstar status even as a celebrity. Dancing with the Stars isn't always for "has-beens." Cameron Mathison who was on the last season of the show, was concurrently featured on episodes of All My Children. Floyd Mayweather who was also featured on last season had boxing matches with Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton shortly before the show. It is true that many celebrities go on that show to gain more exposure however I would still say that Billy Ray Cyrus' versatility alone will classify him as a superstar. I personally would label him that term automatically because he was featured in highly rated venues across different entertainment genres throughout his career. Now an artist like Garth Brooks would be a mega-superstar. ;D LOL!

Please don't let this jumpstart her father's career and force us to put up with another "Achy Breaky Heart". Well, I don't mind him riding the coattail of his daughter's success. Money needs to be made and if if his daughter's fame will help him re-establish his own country music fame by putting more dollars in his pocket, then I say more power to him! Why should he be stagnant and not capitalizing on every venue that he can get his hands on? I bet anyone in his shoes would do the same too.

She has been getting some plays at Z100 with this hit. Making her dad country superstar Bill Ray Cyrus proud! Was he even a country superstar, though? He certainly hasn't been for years, if he actually was. Well considering his past success coupled with his current, I would classify Billy Ray Cyrus as a country superstar. I'm not just talking about the music side of his career. He has had successful acting and dancing roles too. Yes even though he has had twelve country singles reaching the top 40 of the country charts including his signature tune" Achy Break Heart" which garnered him two AMA and one CMA awards. He continued to gain popularity in ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" lasting eight weeks on the show. He is also currently a star on the highly rated Disney television series "Hanna Montana" alongside his daughter Miley Cyrus.

Making her dad country superstar Bill Ray Cyrus proud! Maybe she'll get turn out to be a pop airplay queen in the likes of Hillary Duff or Jo Jo.

This has really slowed down all of a sudden, despite "Stronger" being up (down?) to a 4-digit spin loss. Yes that is really unfortunate. I thought this would have been another top 10 hit for him. It is an excellent song IMO. In fact one of my favorite on the charts. It is so catchy and pleasing...I don't understand pop sometimes. LOL.

Great song!
Not to mention the life of Kanye's mother, Dr. Donda West, a woman who has certainly dedicated her good life to so much wonderful causes. She raised Kanye well to become the phenomenal superstar that he is.
May she rest in peace , my thoughts and prayers are with Kanye and his family during this difficult time.

Why wouldn't a pop MD/PD play the version with Beyonce, she's been a very successful and current pop artist in her own right, so it wouldn't harm to play the duet. JT and Beyonce never did a song together. Now prepare yourself for my 'Captain Obvious' liner:
"It is very common for very popular urban artists to collaborate together." ;D

Question: Did all of Fergie's released singles from The Dutchess reached the top 5 of the pop charts? Nevertheless having five consecutive top 10's at pop radio is freakin' impressive! Fergie girl, do ya thang! Yep, they were all top 5s, and "London Bridge" is the only one that didn't go on to make the top 3. London Bridge- #4 Fergalicious- #2 Glamorous- #2 Big Girls Don't Cry- #1 Clumsy- #5 (so far, but should be #3 within the next week) I think "BGDC" is the only one that deserved to peak anywhere near as high as it did, but that's just my opinion. Of course...that's what personal charts are for! Thank you for the chart data. I loved all of her songs. My favorite of the bunch is a tossup between "Fergalicious" and "Glamorous."

Wikipedia...answers.com? I could go to a concert with Melinda Doolittle or someone with a powerful voice like that and she could just stand still and never move the whole time, yet her voice and talent would have me locked into every song. I'd be very entertained. How about broadway performers and live theater where they sing and dance, yet don't lip sync? How are they able to perform and actually sing (and be talented vocally) without lip syncing? Well an audience can be wowed by singing without the lip syncing alone and on the other hand an audience can be wowed by really awesome dancing with instrumentals or lip-syncing (singing in the background). I don't think there is a clear cut form of musical entertainment. However, I am a bit biased, I tend to think the dancing stuff is "cooler." Btw, we are talking so much about dance, singing, etc. etc. Nicole and "Whatever U Like" and the topic is about "Baby Love" and I think I'm going way off topic. LOL.
