I think it is amazing how this chick's concerts are selling like hot cakes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyTOQxzL97o (just the song...not the video) She has been getting some plays at Z100 with this hit. Making her dad country superstar Bill Ray Cyrus proud! Maybe she'll get turn out to be a pop airplay queen in the likes of Hillary Duff or Jo Jo.

I knew that "See You Again" would be a silent hit. It is nearing the top 40.

He certainly hasn't been for years, if he actually was. Well considering his past success coupled with his current, I would classify Billy Ray Cyrus as a country superstar. I'm not just talking about the music side of his career. He has had successful acting and dancing roles too. Yes even though he has had twelve country singles reaching the top 40 of the country charts including his signature tune" Achy Break Heart" which garnered him two AMA and one CMA awards. He continued to gain popularity in ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" lasting eight weeks on the show. He is also currently a star on the highly rated Disney television series "Hanna Montana" alongside his daughter Miley Cyrus.

Still, it sounds like he had a reasonably success country career, and he's been able to ride the cult success "Achy Breaky Heart" had, as well as his daughter's current success, but I think Garth Brooks would be a country superstar, and if you're gonna be literal with that term, then there's no way I, at least, would throw Billy Ray Cyrus in that same category.
His son also has a music project; I forget the name of his band, but one of their songs got played on KNDD, and it sounded kinda decent.

It seems natural she would get a pop hit. She is one of the biggest things in music.

Please don't let this jumpstart her father's career and force us to put up with another "Achy Breaky Heart".

Yeah, I read a recent write-up in AP about the band, but I can't remember their name, either. It's his stepson to be technical, and the kid's, like, 18, has a bunch of tattoos already and is in some keyboard-laced emo-pop band. Well considering his past success coupled with his current, I would classify Billy Ray Cyrus as a country superstar. I'm not just talking about the music side of his career. He has had successful acting and dancing roles too. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I was under the impression that Dancing with the Stars was for has-beens. His acting career does not solidify or re-establish his status as a country superstar and it's not high profile enough to earn him superstar status even as a celebrity. It's telling that his Top 20 hit "Ready, Set, Don't Go" on Mediabase's country chart is now listed as a duet with Miley. Please don't let this jumpstart her father's career and force us to put up with another "Achy Breaky Heart". That won't happen and it's not like his music is all novelty songs like that anyway. I don't get why everyone s***s on that song.

Please don't let this jumpstart her father's career and force us to put up with another "Achy Breaky Heart". Well, I don't mind him riding the coattail of his daughter's success. Money needs to be made and if if his daughter's fame will help him re-establish his own country music fame by putting more dollars in his pocket, then I say more power to him! Why should he be stagnant and not capitalizing on every venue that he can get his hands on? I bet anyone in his shoes would do the same too.

His acting career does not solidify or re-establish his status as a country superstar and it's not high profile enough to earn him superstar status even as a celebrity. Dancing with the Stars isn't always for "has-beens." Cameron Mathison who was on the last season of the show, was concurrently featured on episodes of All My Children. Floyd Mayweather who was also featured on last season had boxing matches with Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton shortly before the show. It is true that many celebrities go on that show to gain more exposure however I would still say that Billy Ray Cyrus' versatility alone will classify him as a superstar. I personally would label him that term automatically because he was featured in highly rated venues across different entertainment genres throughout his career. Now an artist like Garth Brooks would be a mega-superstar. ;D LOL!

You see, I knew she had a TV show. I thought that's all it was. Then I see the CD's in stores. At this point I thought it was like a soundtrack. Like the "Friends" soundtrack, you know, songs from the show (by various artists). But these are her songs. Second fiddle to the show itself. The music doesn't even come first. And now the song's a hit?
I can't help but to try and avoid her music because I just don't stand for jack-of-all-trades material from someone who's probably at least 5 years from the age in which a person (not "she") becomes capable of creating quality music.

But it doesn't detract the fact that her target audience which is children (and their families) really love her and are buying her material. This group doesn't really make any distinction of precedence in music vs acting roles, etc. etc. All forms of entertainment seem to be fine and dandy to them. Not knocking what you said down, which was a very good point, I just enjoy playing the devil's advocate. In my personal opinion, I think "See You Again" has a sound that appeals to both children and adult demographics. But certainly my opinion isn't the end all.

I do see your point here. But the thing is, back in my day, when we had people like Aaron Carter trying to make music, we had Radio Disney for that. Then there was the pop charts, and in between Radio Disney and the pop charts was both the the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall, side by side. It seems as though right now, with your Miley Cyrous and Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens all crossing over from Radio Disney, that the line separating the two is blurring up. And if you asked me, that's unfortunate. Even though I'm sure Miley Cyrus was born more talented than Aaron Carter ever became.

Although Ashley Tisdale is in her 20's and I'm sure she doesn't mind the credibility of having pop hits. I'm not sure how the Radio Disney chart is compiled and what data are taken into consideration. radio.disney.go.com/music/top30.html

Eventhough I still like this song. I might be changing my opinions of advocating airplay of the song, in light of the Jamie Lynn pregnancy controversy. Lyrically "See You Again" might be pretty risky for play on pop radio, especially considering her age.

I don't know. If pop radio believes that 14-year-old Jojo Levesque kicks her man to the curb like last week's trash, I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with a song like this. (Or maybe, given its title, they would)

Congrats to Miley on her top 4 hit! I had an inkling that she would be successful with the track. I started the topic! Go me! *doing the doowop* Amazingly, a station in Philadelphia is playing the track more than 150 times in a single week. Sheesh! It doesn't surprise me, this is the kind of track you just play incessantly. It is very radio friendly. I still think it is a terrific song. People wanna be closet fans and don't want to admit that they like a Miley Cyrus song. LMAO.

150? Wow, before now the highest I'd remembered seeing was around 130. Sorry, but playing any song 150 times a week, no matter what it sounds like, is beyond asinine. In fact, anything over half that much is overkill in my mind. There are millions of songs in this world; why play the same one that many times? Good thing I'm a bit too far west to pick up most of the Philly stations.

LOL *nods* I'm considering a brief move to Philly so I'm apprehensive that airplay of Leona and Miley will stifle me or any songs on the station placed on power rotation. The station is WIOQ. w2.mediabase.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/stations.asp?c_let=WIOQ-FM

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with this song. The music beneath Miley is really cool, I think. Her songwriters could've dealt her a lot worse, more boring track.
