When a "musician" performs, their main aspect is their singing. If she were a dancer and not a musician the singing would just be a bonus for the dancing show. I'm very sorry I'm going off topic...but.... If you look at this answers article it describes what musicians are called: www.answers.com/topic/musician"One who composes, conducts, or performs music, especially instrumental music." Nicole Scherzinger wrote "Whatever U Like" (the song she performed at the VMA's) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whatever_U_LikeIf you scroll again at the answers page it specifically states what musicians can do: "Musicians may also dance or produce choreography. The concept of the musician and the status of the musician in society varies from culture to culture." Okay...anything else? When a pop star records a song with their own vocals they are AUTOMATICALLY called a musician. I think it is important for a pop entertainer to reach out to their fans and give them a good show and dancing is another form of music talent. It doesn't always have to be about straight up singing. IMO, that can get pretty boring if that's all a pop star has to offer.

But it's not likely we'll ever see a performance from Nicole where she is actually performing instead of dancing. Remember, she did used to be a stripper...so dancing is her main swing. What? Isn't dancing a part of performing? Hence the terms dance performance, it is all a form of entertainment to me. Nicole exudes confidence! Just look at her work the crowd. It is pretty obvious that folks were feeling her. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzR70hM2rAI&mode=related&search=

She looked a fool by being VERY obvious about lip syncing. It's a shame she's not talented enough to stand there or dance some and sing and wow the crowd with her powerful vocals. Makes me surprised you like Alicia Keys because she ain't all around dancing, she can actually sing. It is normal to find some music artists who perform with an uptempo song lip-sync because all of the dance movement degrades the quality of their voice. I rather her being obvious than being very lazy, looking confused, and dancing bad on stage (ahem, Brit) that's makes a pretty bad performance IMO. But whatever your take on it man, I respect that. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I have a different way of seeing it. I would also like to say. The way I see Nicole's performance has nothing to do with me liking Alicia Keys. Nicole and Alicia Keys are completely different artists and I like them for different things.

She lip-synced (and was so obvious) most of the performance...Wouldn't call that "smokin." Who doesn't lip synch? Ton of artists with danceable songs do just that ...nothing new about that. When you lip synch and look like a fool...now that's called non-smokin' IMHO. LOL ;D

The song has a rootsy, mellow and earthy granola-type vibe, I dig. I can definitely hear this play at a vegan cafe of some sorts! LOL, I'm a vegetarian. I agree with the comment made about Nicole's VMA performance, it was smokin' - she's an outstanding performer. I wouldn't go so far to call Nicole trash, but I'm not sure about the other performer he mentioned. Yikes.

I think this is a vocally strong song for Natasha. She sounds really great on the track. I too am surprised that her bullet isn't larger than it is. But she has made the top 20!

I think the song definitely has a strong chance to crossover. But I think she needs some sort of pop remix to propel her in the top 20. LMAO...responding to myself. She does have a reggae remix of "No One" with Jamaican artist Jr. Reid. I'm not sure if some pop stations are playing it but my local Rhythmic: Hot 97 is. I've noticed that Alicia Keys has been paying homage to her roots in Jamaica. (Since she is of Jamaican heritage) She performed with many reggae artists at Sunday's American Music Awards. Alicia is very brave to alienate her core audience like that. I'm also of Jamaican heritage and so I've been secretly appreciating Alicia for showcasing more reggae acts to the mainstream.

(She sounded kind of hoarse to me, too...) I believe that's the point. Fans of a more "soulful" kind of music might perhaps be moved by the way she sings. There is an entire genre named R&B and Soul.

Fantastic comeback by Alicia! I love the emotion that Alicia brings with her music. It sends chills down my spine. She never fails with her music in my book and will be forever one of my favorite artists!

Kat DeLuna's "Whine Up" has had a resurgence of pop airplay spins perhaps due to her recent Miss Teen USA performance during the bikini competition. Someone also told me that it was WWE Summerslam's theme too and got numerous play at the event. It is incredible that she is moving back up the pop chart. Congrats to Kat! www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iKod8hK_Aw

Well not really, she made the top 5 on the Hot 100.
What puzzles me IMO is having a grounded pop artist out there like Will.I.Am that genuinely seems to care about fans yet gets crapped on the charts. Furthermore, Britney can have a carefree attitude and really doesn't show she gives a flying f*** about a fan and is doing quite well LMAO.

She finally released the video on Monday. The video looks so cheap. The song is really good, however I just think she messes it up so much when I think about her horrid VMA performance and whacked up cheesy video that looks like it was filmed with a camcorder.

Despite the Britney performance controversy, I'm starting to really love this song more and more each day. It makes me want to say, "Gimme More!"

I heard the song unexpectedly today on Z100, I assure you I wouldn't have searched for the song on my own or anything. I couldn't help to bop my head along to the track. The song is infectious and is kinda likable. However, Timbaland and Keri's "The Way I Are" will always be infinitely better in my eyes than the "futuristic" sound that Britney and her producer Danja (aka -- I call him "Baby Tim") is trying to mimic. Moreover, it is interesting to note that Keri helped write this song for her.

I, personally, want to avoid it as much as humanly possible. I would have to agree. Not because I don't want to hear this song. It is just I don't want to play a role in any further endorsement of this woman's career without a grounded comeback. Especially with a title like that, I don't think it even warrants a listen. I think she needs some more time to work on herself and clean up her act.

I officially hate this song now. The melody makes me nauseous. The instrumentals has a liquor store a la chugalug a 40 oz. bottle of St. Ides kind of feel. It is ghetto sounding R&B track IMO. LOL. Ha! I think I'm having a change of heart now. The repetitive hook is bananas. It looks like "Bed" has crossover too.

The song is very boring to me. It sounds way too urban for pop. But then again if Yung Berg's "Sexy Lady" could make the top 40, then maybe this will have a shot.

As always, I'm a sucker for cookie cutter pop songs. The fourth hit "Easy" by Texan Paula Deanda fits the bill. The song is syrupy sweet as they come. It's nearing a peak in top 20 on CHR/Pop. She also has had mediocre success on the Billboard Hot 100.
I enjoy this tune. I happen to like it more than her bigger hit, "Walk Away." I think vocally she really stands out. She has an intriguing "girly girl" quality to her voice on this track. LOL! ;D
I'd like to say Paula D. has had a decent start of a music career because of her hits at top 40. I'll cross my fingers in hopes that she stays on Arista's payroll to release a sophomore effort in the near future.

It looks like Rihanna is finally surfacing at CHR with "Don't Stop The Music." It was a successful smash in Canada and looks like it will get equal success here in the states.
DSTM is my favorite of the four tracks that Rihanna has released from Good Girl Gone Bad. It just seems the most natural for her judging from her persona.

I've seen the video for the first time also today. I think it's a very melodic and captivating tune. I really enjoy it. She's added hair extensions in the video, which is an interesting change. I think she is in her element with a danceable track like this. I say it's a good move for Def Jam to release it earlier than expected because "Shut Up and Drive" is about dead. Eventhough, I like SUAD to a degree, it seems obviously unoriginal for longevity. I predicted that it would get stale really quickly. The track seems forced to garner commercial success like "Umbrella."

I'm enjoying the song more than I did initially.
I don't think it's so much Colbie's luck, perhaps it's due to her familial connections, because her father is a record producer who has worked with Fleetwood Mac. So I'm sure he has been somewhat instrumental in her pop success.

I like this. It's like a less-boring version of Hey There Delilah. Should be pretty big! I guess your definition of boring is different from mines because I don't find "Bubbly" alluring. Songs like "Hey There Delilah" and "Who Knew" were instantly captivating for me on first listen. The tracks seemingly have a strong appeal to some vibrant group of listeners. I'd be hesitant right now to say that about "Bubbly." It is a bit sleeper-ish to me and I instantly get in my 'changing my radio dial tune' mood upon hearing the song. I'm not sure if "Bubbly" will top the pop charts but if I have to make predictions and wishful thinking serves me right then I would like to doubt it. It hit the top 10 on BB Hot 100, nevertheless.

It is a sappy song, I guess good enough for the chicks. They live off of the whole 'heartthrob' image but this contemporary song is rather dull and seemingly (in my eyes) make them come across as being "wash ups" after an amazing run during the teenie pop era. Come on guys, you're not in cane man territory to be a little more vibrant.
