No, thank God, it's not a Diana Ross and the Supremes remake.
She "performed" on the VMA's before Britney and needless to say trash did a good job opening for trash. She was completely obvious in lip syncing, but the song sucked anyways, so it didn't matter.
There's some will.i.am in this, but it is also pretty s***ty. Her voice sounds so damn weird.

Can an administrator please change the topic to read "Nicole Scherzinger"?

Oh, you mean the "Make It Hot" girl from 1998? (Nicole Wray?) That's like when Janet Jackson only puts "Janet" on her releases. Nobody pays that any mind.

The song has a rootsy, mellow and earthy granola-type vibe, I dig. I can definitely hear this play at a vegan cafe of some sorts! LOL, I'm a vegetarian. I agree with the comment made about Nicole's VMA performance, it was smokin' - she's an outstanding performer. I wouldn't go so far to call Nicole trash, but I'm not sure about the other performer he mentioned. Yikes.

She lip-synced (and was so obvious) most of the performance...Wouldn't call that "smokin."

She looked a fool by being VERY obvious about lip syncing. It's a shame she's not talented enough to stand there or dance some and sing and wow the crowd with her powerful vocals. Makes me surprised you like Alicia Keys because she ain't all around dancing, she can actually sing.

Makes me surprised you like Alicia Keys because she ain't all around dancing, she can actually sing. It is normal to find some music artists who perform with an uptempo song lip-sync because all of the dance movement degrades the quality of their voice. I rather her being obvious than being very lazy, looking confused, and dancing bad on stage (ahem, Brit) that's makes a pretty bad performance IMO. But whatever your take on it man, I respect that. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I have a different way of seeing it. I would also like to say. The way I see Nicole's performance has nothing to do with me liking Alicia Keys. Nicole and Alicia Keys are completely different artists and I like them for different things.

But it's not likely we'll ever see a performance from Nicole where she is actually performing instead of dancing. Remember, she did used to be a stripper...so dancing is her main swing.

Isn't dancing a part of performing? Hence the terms dance performance, it is all a form of entertainment to me. Nicole exudes confidence! Just look at her work the crowd. It is pretty obvious that folks were feeling her. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzR70hM2rAI&mode=related&search=

When a "musician" performs, their main aspect is their singing. If she were a dancer and not a musician the singing would just be a bonus for the dancing show.

When a "musician" performs, their main aspect is their singing. If she were a dancer and not a musician the singing would just be a bonus for the dancing show. I'm very sorry I'm going off topic...but.... If you look at this answers article it describes what musicians are called: www.answers.com/topic/musician"One who composes, conducts, or performs music, especially instrumental music." Nicole Scherzinger wrote "Whatever U Like" (the song she performed at the VMA's) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whatever_U_LikeIf you scroll again at the answers page it specifically states what musicians can do: "Musicians may also dance or produce choreography. The concept of the musician and the status of the musician in society varies from culture to culture." Okay...anything else? When a pop star records a song with their own vocals they are AUTOMATICALLY called a musician. I think it is important for a pop entertainer to reach out to their fans and give them a good show and dancing is another form of music talent. It doesn't always have to be about straight up singing. IMO, that can get pretty boring if that's all a pop star has to offer.

Wikipedia...answers.com?
I could go to a concert with Melinda Doolittle or someone with a powerful voice like that and she could just stand still and never move the whole time, yet her voice and talent would have me locked into every song. I'd be very entertained.
How about broadway performers and live theater where they sing and dance, yet don't lip sync? How are they able to perform and actually sing (and be talented vocally) without lip syncing?

The video for "Whatever U Like" came on tonight and good God, no wonder that song bombed. It blows! And the video is worse!

Well an audience can be wowed by singing without the lip syncing alone and on the other hand an audience can be wowed by really awesome dancing with instrumentals or lip-syncing (singing in the background). I don't think there is a clear cut form of musical entertainment. However, I am a bit biased, I tend to think the dancing stuff is "cooler." Btw, we are talking so much about dance, singing, etc. etc. Nicole and "Whatever U Like" and the topic is about "Baby Love" and I think I'm going way off topic. LOL.

Her solo songs are just OK. I can't imagine anyone singing this. Why doesn't she just re-release the PCD songs with just her vocals?

I realize magazine lead times are set months in advance, but Blender looks kinda stupid putting her on the cover with two dud singles under her belt...well, the waistline of her panties, anyway.

The song has lost 70% of its plays over the past week. I bet "All I Want For Christmas (Is You)" doesn't even lose 70% of its plays by New Years Day. Talk about a payola campaign gone horribly awry...

Talk about a payola campaign gone horribly awry... I'd say it's the lack of payola and people astutely noting that neither of her singles so far have been very good. f***in' Blender goes and puts her on the cover, her singles misfire and I'm not even sure her album will come out by 2008 at this point. It's like when they put Christina Milian on the cover a couple years ago and her album was a spectacular failure. Way to go, guys.

Did this even get any airplay? I only saw the video played like every half an hour on MTV, then later on VH1.

Did this even get any airplay? I only saw the video played like every half an hour on MTV, then later on VH1. It looks like it peaked awhile ago at #42 or so. And I just got to read her cover story, finally, and it made me feel like her ego would be well served by having her first two singles end up the spectacular bombs they were. If when they re-tool the album her next single takes off, then we may have a problem.
