Where is my manners? Happy belated birthday to crash46 and wishes for many more. You see I'm real nice even though you didn't give me a birthday greeting. That's cool though.

It is impressive that 3 Doors Down keeps on belting out these great top 40 hits, year after year. Interesting lyrics and message behind the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHU9dN0Itrk

The song is not bad. It is pretty catchy. Is Miley Cyrus' half brother really a member of this band? The guitarist with all of the tats. Cool...LMAO. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpU78IeTx_c

This song is okay, it is about in the "B" range for me. I've enjoyed "Kiss Kiss" and "With You" more. However, the disco meets futuristic vibe of "Forever" is interesting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2IExa2A198

Long before the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync ever existed, as a pre-teen, I thought NKOTB was a pretty cool boy band. I still have their records in the basement of my mom's house. I used to like "Hangin' Tough" and "I'll Be Loving You Forever." They were one of the first groups I got into when following the charts. I enjoy their comeback tune "Summertime" it is really smooth and has a tight "feel good" vibe. I give em' kudos for returning on to the scene. www.youtube.com/watch?v=25qiZy7vmqY

I'm trying to figure out if this song is talking about what I think it is? Raunchy to the max! Some things need to be left to the imagination. Sheesh. Anyway, I enjoy Ne-Yo's hook of the song. He makes the song. Plies wouldn't have a hit without him. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W12L6bTlIIo

Congrats to Ashanti on her BET awards nod for the video for "The Way That I Love You." Furthermore, I find it interesting that Ashanti reunited with cookie monster, ahem Ja Rule for a GMA performance last Friday for "Always On Time." (Ah, remember the days of Ja Rule...lol with Ashanti, J-Lo and others) Here is some live footage from the performance. www.findinternettv.com/Video,item,3530512802.aspx (Cut and paste if interested)

I'm surprised a topic wasn't started about this song. I guess we're in our own little worlds, huh? LOL. (Or maybe at the Pulse Music Board world...hehe) Anyway it sounds good, more vibrant than his typical monotonous songs in the past. (Mind you, there are plenty of folks that love his monotonous vocals ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ0z86LmXBM

This song has grown on me in the past couple of days. I really love it. I know she probably hates getting compared to Amy Winehouse. Nevertheless, the voice is just captivating IMO. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2orthS3TQ

Another grower for me. You know me, I tend to like the animated tracks more, but the song is calm and soothing and she has great vocals.

Finally we get PCD's return, after Nicole's flop solo career and Carmit leaving the group (down from 6 to 5 nevertheless). I really dig this song. It is funky and has pizzazz. It gives me the urge to hit America's hottest nightclubs. Great summer release! I heard that Britney Spears made a very short cameo appearance in the video. It should be interesting to see when it is released. In the meantime, enjoy the performance of PCD made a debut on Jimmy Kimmel (my favorite nighttime talk show host) last month: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBBaDMZD3D8&feature=relatedYoutube fan made video with radio edit song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-y5Mu1nIGc&feature=related

I've made an interesting observation about this week's chart before Sunday's update. It is interesting to note that two artists of Guyanese ancestry will be reigning supreme on the American pop charts this week, #1 and #2 respectively.
Rihanna's who is from Barbados, mother is from Guyana and Leona Lewis' who is from the UK, father is from Guyana. My mom is Guyanese too! So I'm ecstatic.
Way back in 1998, we had Deborah Cox hit #2 on Billboard Hot 100's with "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" and she is also of Guyanese ancestry.
Then maybe I should be a singer since I am talking about all the music and artists so much here, nah...I suck! he he. : ;D

Who'd thought that Ray J (Brandy's little ho of a brother) of all people would have a #2 crossover hit at pop? WTF....unbelievable.

I smell payola and 'dykism'...lmfao...let me stop! This year's t.A.T.u. for you. Madonna isn't bringing the overtones of lesbianism anymore so someone else has to give it. LOL! It is a fad every now and then.

I listened to the first minute of the song on All Access and turned it off. Why does this almost have a +1000 bullet on pop? I don't get it. Maybe I need to listen to the whole thing a few times to get it, but this seems overrated. The song has officially grown on me. I'm starting to feel this song more now.

Chr/Pop CNOTE Forgive Me: n/a (but LOL @ them coming back 9 years after that minor top 40 hit.)OMG, I forgot to comment on this. It is funny that CNote never had any "real" celebrity status anyway yet so surprising that most are still together. I actually met them in the summer of 1999 when they appeared at a camp I was working at in Fishkill, New York and they performed their hit, "Wait Til' I Get Home" which peaked in the upper 30's on the pop top 40 chart. They were very nice dudes, nevertheless.

Chr/Pop MILEY CYRUS See You Again: B (The music excuses her (understandably) girly voice. I can't believe this does not have a music video yet.)I would consider the following as the official music video for "See You Again" - random footage from her "Hannah Montana: Best Of Both Worlds Tour": www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JWh6mAYtsA

I love the pop chart right now -- a lot of great songs!
LEONA LEWIS Bleeding Love: A++ (one of the best #1 on the pop chart in a long while, besides Alicia, from someone who can truly sing on a Mariah and Whitney level and has personality – this makes me excited about the direction of pop music once again) JORDIN SPARKS No Air f/Chris Brown: A- USHER Love In This Club f/Young Jeezy: A+ RAY J/YUNG BERG Sexy Can I: A- (this guy is a freak!) MILEY CYRUS See You Again: A+ (I would be very embarrassed to admit that I really like this in public. Shhhh. – it is my most played song on itunes) MADONNA 4 Minutes: A+ SARA BAREILLES Love Song: A- ONEREPUBLIC Stop & Stare: B+ RIHANNA Take A Bow: B- DANITY KANE Damaged: A- LIL WAYNE Lollipop f/Static Major: A+ (Wayne was probably stoned in the studio when he recorded this…he was sniffing on that… and sipping on some of that…I’ll also guess that some in between candy delights were enjoyed which was the motivation behind the song) FLO RIDA Low f/T-Pain: A- CHRIS BROWN With You: B BUCKCHERRY Sorry: D (very wack, corny and lame – couldn’t be titled any better - One big ball of cheese!) MARIAH CAREY Touch My Body: A- NATASHA BEDINGFIELD Pocketful Of Sunshine: A- COLBIE CAILLAT Realize: C+ JESSE MCCARTNEY Leavin': A FLYLEAF All Around Me: C+ TAYLOR SWIFT Our Song: B- (okay, but it is country heavy, airplay reception at the bigger metro markets was a “no go” for this one.) LIFEHOUSE Whatever It Takes: B RIHANNA Don't Stop The Music: B+ BRITNEY SPEARS Break The Ice: A METRO STATION Shake It: C+ COLBY O'DONIS What You Got f/Akon: A 3 DOORS DOWN It's Not My Time: A- DAUGHTRY Feels Like Tonight: B- MARIAH CAREY Bye Bye: A GAVIN DEGRAW In Love With A Girl: B+ FERRAS Hollywood's Not America C (he is playing like he has a voice when in fact it sounds very soulless – it can be spotted easily) CHERISH Killa f/Yung Joc: B+ SEAN KINGSTON There's Nothin (f/The DEY..): B (incredible cheesy but Sean Kingston is naturally that) CHRIS BROWN Forever: B WEBBIE Independent f/Lil Boozie: A (Excellent use of the repetitive spelling hook and silly folks want to laugh at it. The significance in the lyrics is real! S*** needs to be spelled out for those irresponsible men who don’t appreciate the hard working women they have) SIMPLE PLAN Your Love Is A Lie: C+ FLO RIDA Elevator f/Timbaland: C (Flo Rida is getting low, low, low, low with this one and needs to ride the s*** downstairs cause this track is a weak followup) 2 PISTOLS She Got It f/T-Pain/Tay Dizm: B- LUPE FIASCO Superstar f/Matthew Santos: B+ (tired of it though) JONAS BROTHERS When You Look Me In The Eyes: C- (triple decker with double cheese) C-SIDE Boyfriend/Girlfriend f/Keshia Cole: B+ DAVID GUETTA & CHRIS WILLIS Love Is Gone: A- THE SPILL CANVAS All Over You: C- PANIC AT THE DISCO Nine In The Afternoon: D+ SHWAYZE Buzzin: B- SECONDHAND SERENADE Fall For You: B- DUFFY Mercy: C+ FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS Whoa Oh: C FALL OUT BOY Beat It: A- (Very nice cover, but the original song is hard to mess up.) NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK Summertime: A (I used to like them as a kid, I still have all of their vinyls…lol, now they are back in the game…I give em’ kudos for reuniting like that – The single is nice and smooth, I like!)

This is the cute blonde chick from Dancing With The Stars' (who won twice) debut single. LOL, which reminds me of Jessica Simpson who'll be debuting a Country album soon. Julianne has a pretty nice voice. I really enjoy this song. The song is very catchy. Although, I thought she would have showcased more of her awesome dance moves in the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh4L7qvUiEM

Oh s***, I remember those Nefertiti earrings back in the day. Oh no you didn't Alicia. Why did you have to go and bring em' back? lmao!
Seriously, she looks really good in the video, nevertheless. The silly in it seems to work with the concept of the song. I love the vocals on this one, "Girl can sang!"

This song has the right kind of "swagger" (Urban slang) for me. I enjoy it a lot. The repetitive hook is ingraining. Boricua is hitting big on the pop chart, nice! Colby has really great vocals, I'm impressed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O3NmqzTpFM

I thought this song would be a flop. But, I'm thrilled that "Break The Ice" is managing to have some longevity as it inches in the top 25. It is turning out to be quite a decent radio hit for Brit.

I didn't believe Jordin would be this successful so soon. The track is infectious and the pair up is great. Yeah, yeah, yeah Chris Brown helped her with the success of "No Air" to a degree at Rhythmic and Urban. (The track fits the formats perfectly fine!)
She proved herself enough with a prior hit of her own at Pop. Chris was fortunate to have Jordin as well, than having a duet with some mediocre female singer. Jordin also won the 'Best New Artist' category at the NAACP Image Awards this year. Therefore, she carried her own weight too, in order to be successful at these formats, so no need to be sexist.

I hope Estelle can take off with this song in the US. She is gaining spins at Rhythmic. Quite a few stations in the Southwest are showing her love. The song hit #1 in the UK, #2 in Ireland and #6 in New Zealand. She sings about an American boy and you mean to tell me she can't get a hit in this country. Come on now. What gives? Urban needs to wake up because they're sleeping on this track!

150? Wow, before now the highest I'd remembered seeing was around 130. Sorry, but playing any song 150 times a week, no matter what it sounds like, is beyond asinine. In fact, anything over half that much is overkill in my mind. There are millions of songs in this world; why play the same one that many times? Good thing I'm a bit too far west to pick up most of the Philly stations. LOL *nods* I'm considering a brief move to Philly so I'm apprehensive that airplay of Leona and Miley will stifle me or any songs on the station placed on power rotation. The station is WIOQ. w2.mediabase.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/stations.asp?c_let=WIOQ-FM

Congrats to Ashanti on her Urban airplay smash. It is not putting a dent on the Hot 100, however.
I have a gut feeling that Ashanti's successful mainstream days are over. She could prove me wrong, but I don't think it is going to happen. I heard that her peer Beyonce might call it quits after her next album. So Ashanti might be in good company if she too throws in the towel.
But is throwing in the towel really practical these days? I am getting a sudden urge to itch the palm of my hands. LOL!
