www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF84pIhP5UMThis song wowed me on first listen. I'm so captivated by the track. Leona brings something that is so new and fresh to the table and she's also stunningly beautiful. Certainly a good package!

Another VH1 hype find. Usually they wind up being either really good or really shoddy, and so far, I find this to fall into the former category. Wouldn't mind at all to hear this more often, but it seems like straight-up R&B hasn't had much of a presence on the pop charts in the last few years. Hopefully, this can buck that trend.

Well the difference is that Leona Lewis was the winner of the third season of The X Factor, which is essentially the replacement of UK's Pop Idol show. This song was produced and co-written by OneRepublic's lead singer Ryan Tedder.
With that being said, I do like this song a lot though.

The snare drum sound is so unusual for this kind of pop song. I like. "Produced and co-written by Ryan Tedder"? Hell yeah. This'll be a slow grower on me the more it sticks around.

Not doing a whole lot for me at this point, but I'm still rooting for it for the sake of getting more fresh sounds to the upper part of a pop chart where Irreplaceable part 4 (aka "With You") and Miley Montana are dominating.

Glad my girl Leona is doing well. She reminds me of Mariah when she first started out. Ironically, both of them will be in the same top 10 lineup.

Top 5 and +1708 (and going up by the day)? Okay, I wasn't rooting for it that much.

The snare drum sound is so unusual for this kind of pop song. I like. Blender says: "What unites the songs is the way they pair sweeping, hearstring melodies with unexpectedly hard-hitting drums." See? I knew what I was talking about.

With a nearly 1400 spin increase to get to #1 this week (with 9600+ spins already), she'll easily shatter OneRepublic's spin record with this. This trend is quickly becoming as obnoxious as the dinosaur songs on the Alternative chart resetting the WOC record every six months.

Congrats to Leona on her first #1 hit, she deserves to do well with this track. I'm thrilled she'll be at the top for a while.

10566 is not a record spin total. But NOW it is at record levels:
1 1 LEONA LEWIS Bleeding Love 10852 10376 476 73.010

Just thought I'd try to veer the conversation going on in the "Take a Bow" thread over here, since that seems to have gone to this course.
You know, I like Leona's voice a lot, but I personally think vocals are one of the most overrated attributes of music. It annoys me when people imply that only songs sung by people with six-octave ranges are worthy of being considered great. Like Nick said, "I Love You Always Forever" is meant to be a laid-back song, and that's what makes it great. Same goes for "Bleeding Love." Besides, I think the lyrics are what really make "Bleeding Love" so great; if it had just been another generic Celine Dion-esque love song, there's no way it'd be achieving this level of success.
As far as the record goes, I too would like to see it fall at Leona's hands. I'm not burned out on it yet, and there really isn't anything nearby that I feel deserves to be at #1 (though I'm not familiar with "I Kissed a Girl" yet). Just remember that she could very easily find herself in the same situation Donna Lewis did after her monster #1 if the followup doesn't at least go top 10. More likely, she could probably find herself where Lifehouse did after "Hanging by a Moment" supersaturated radio playlists for most of 2001. They had to wait four years and two more albums before getting a hit with a level of success approachable to HBAM. I personally don't see either happening with her, but the scenario does seem fitting.

Well if "Bleeding Love" is a masterpiece lyrically then Flo Rida f/ T-Pain's "Low" lyrics must also be a strong piece of lyrical work. LOL! And low and behold, both tracks turned out to be #1 singles.
