I typically had about 180 songs to hit my chart over a 50-week span, plus figuring about 20 more that got hosed each year...200's about right.
No I wasn't secretly keeping pen & paper charts behind everyone's back. This was all done without weekly charts. So there just might be a surprise or two inside.
I'll post these in an installment-per-day-in-which-i-have-time-to-kill-on-the-computer. In comes the first...
200. Deftones - "Hole In The Earth" (#45 in 2006) 199. Breaking Benjamin - "Breath" 198. Audioslave - "Revelations" 197. Avenged Sevenfold - "Afterlife" 196. Green Day - "Jesus Of Suburbia" (#131 in 2006, #86 in 2005, #136 in 2004) 195. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" (#40 in 2006) 194. Say Anything - "Alive With The Glory" (#39 in 2006) 193. The Mars Volta - "Viscera Eyes" (#85 in 2006) 192. Jack Johnson - "If I Had Eyes" 191. Silverchair - "The Greatest View" 190. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Tell Me Baby" (#15 in 2006) 189. Feist - "My Moon My Man" 188. Sparta - "Taking Back Control" (#93 in 2006) 187. Nickelback - "Side Of A Bullet" 186. Regina Spektor - "Better" 185. Paramore - "Misery Business" 184. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - "Face Down" 183. Sick Puppies - "All The Same" 182. Avenged Sevenfold - "A Little Piece Of Heaven" 181. The Killers - "When You Were Young" (#59 in 2006) 180. Augustana - "Boston" 179. Death Cab For Cutie - "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" 178. Akon - "Don't Matter" 177. Papa Roach - "Time Is Running Out" 176. Bullet For My Valentine - "Scream, Aim, Fire"
I wasn't aware that "Jesus Of Suburbia" had charted in 2004, making it the first song to appear on four different year-end charts. It made it as an album cut spanning '04-'05, as a single spanning '05-'06, and again this year as there was not a single ipod playlist created all year that didn't include the song, as it sunk in as just being a flat out awesome track with absolutely no trace of burnout. Has there ever been a better song than "Jesus Of Suburbia".

Fine. I'll run two year-end countdowns simultaneously. . Nobody can say they've done that. If they want to, they've gotta wait a year. ;D.

Since you compiled a list of favorite songs from 2007 that weren't based on actual weekly charts, I could go do the same for, say, 2001 right now and do countdowns for that and my upcoming 2007 year-end chart simultaneously.

I see why there's such a struggle for this straight-outta-the-chorus clip for #49: There's only one other member's chart it even appeared on (someone who hasn't made a guess here yet), and it made nobody's top 30.
45 is "The Pretender", of course. I knew all along that the second note would be the giveaway, so I tried the one short note at first to see if anyone could get that
As I work on the next round of clues, I'll go ahead and mention that right now it's approaching 3PM at the home of the band at #49.
