Yep. Reposting the clue for #36 (the only one left in this round) since we're on a new page: 36. In the video, a few lines of this song is sung acapella. A new artist whose biggest success was on Hot AC. It also cracked the top 50 on CHR/Pop. A high percentage of discussion of this song on the Pulse board was about which other artist's sound was most comparable.

My reasoning for guessing "Sugar" at #34 and not #37 was because I thought that Michael's guess was right.

My reasoning for guessing "Sugar" at #34 and not #37 was because I thought that Michael's guess was right. Okay, I'll give you a half point and Nick the other one and a half. There's nothing questionable to "Helena"'s lyrics that would make a guess of that song plausible for #37. (Of course, the lines of "SWGD" I misheard as "I'll be your number one with a bullet/A loaded gun complex, cock it and pull it".)

36. In the video, a few lines of this song is sung acapella. A new artist whose biggest success was on Hot AC. It also cracked the top 50 on CHR/Pop. A high percentage of discussion of this song on the Pulse board was about which other artist's sound was most comparable. "Like they have any right at all" Anna Nalick - Breathe (2am) (radical347)[/b]
30. The highest rhythmic song on the year-end ("rhythmic" meaning the song hit the top 50 on that chart). Most people thought this guy would be a one-hit wonder with the gimmicky song that he came out with, but this one was an even bigger hit. Mario - Let Me Love You (a/St. Nick O!)
29. Written in tribute to the lead singer's father, who recently passed away. U2 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (halo19)
28. "Just like a newborn child" Breaking Benjamin - Sooner or Later (a/St. Nick O!)
27. If you began here, then you're probably having a good day. Atreyu - Right Side of the Bed (a/St. Nick O!)
26. Some were surprised by this song's underperformance at Pop, given their previous Pop single hit the top 10. The Killers - All These Things That I've Done (a/St. Nick O!)
25. "There's no one you can trust" Weezer - We Are All On Drugs (halo19)
24. No clue needed for this one. Jem - 24 (slinky)
23. "[Name of album] is as theatrically foreboding as its title, one of the few pop records made since 9/11 that captures the eerie unease of living in the 21st century... He's assured and masterful on [name of album], regaining his flair for grand gestures that served him so well at the height of Britpop, yet tempering his tendency to overreach by keeping the music lean and evocative." Gorillaz f/De La Soul - Feel Good Inc. (a/St. Nick O!)
22. About as obscure nationally than the #35 song, they were nevertheless able to snag an opening spot on a few dates of a hot co-headlining tour in 2005. Mae - Suspension (a/St. Nick O!)
21. Their 2001 album was quite successful on my personal chart, but a more political bent to their newer material has somewhat contributed to a chart slump for these guys. They've had one top 50 hit on my PC in the past three years: this song, which hit #1. System of a Down - Question! (halo19)

29. U2 - "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" 21. System of a Down - "Question!" Both correct. 25. Weezer - "We Are All On Drugs" Also correct. 36. Howie Day "Collide" ? 30. Mario "Let Me Love You" ? 26. Green Day "Holiday" ? 23. Oasis "Lyla" ? 30 is correct. None of the other three are in my top 100.

I forgot to update the standings; these are for #100 through #31, not including #36:
23 - Mega248 16 - crash46 11 - friday 8.5 - halo19 6.5 - a Nick O! 4 - jcmf3 1 - radical347 1 - bellhorn12
I encourage everyone to 'stay in the game', since my point system for the top 5 will give the top half or so the opportunity to catch up.

23 is incorrect, but you got 26. Then, "Only"? Nope, sorry. Neither NIN single made my top 100, although "Only" did well for a song that missed a top-30 peak.

Nope, sorry. Neither NIN single made my top 100, although "Only" did well for a song that missed a top-30 peak. What the hell is it then?? I thought for sure, despite the "Britpop" mention, that I was on the right track. I'll keep looking though... I believe 22 is "Suspension" by Mae. I only guess that because from your clue, I had the Foozer tour in mind, but had no idea who the opener was. Then I happened to catch your top concerts in my own topic, as I was scrolling to edit it again.

I'm going to sleep, so no more confirmations of right/wrong guesses (or additional clues) until tomorrow.

OK, if 23 isn't "Bullet-Proof Skin" by Institute, then I give up on it for tonight. That's not it. (It was at #92.) Their Billboard chart history reads, in part, as follows: Modern Rock Tracks2001 #3 2001 #23 2005 #1 2005 #19 Mainstream Top 402001 #32 2001 #34 2005 #13 Billboard Hot 1002001 #57 2005 #14

24. No clue needed for this one. (Okay, I guess one is needed.) Let's just say I've already given away part of the answer.

Yes, 24 is "24". There was a little bit of leeway here, since placement on the year-end chart isn't determined entirely by weekly positions, but it was close enough that the number 24 position isn't too far off.

You know, on my year-end charts, "Nookie," "Get it On Tonite," and "My Neck My Back" all happened to be #69 for their respective years, and those honestly were by reverse points alone...

Well I was about to laughingly and exasperatedly acknowledge my newfound twist of fate, but at the last few seconds before clicking "reply," my brain came up with it:
27. Atreyu "Right Side of the Bed"
