Both correct, leaving what I thought would be the easiest one of the bunch (at least after the first extension).

95. Evans Blue - "Cold (But I'm Still Here)" Sorry, but no. 93. Mae- "Painless" P.S. Davey got "How To Save A Life", not me. Correct, and corrected. Ahh, 98 is "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly," but it seems awkward that I'd get that before Nick. You indeed got it.

98, I believe, is "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by DCFC. And #92: "Every Day Is Exactly the Same" by Nine Inch Nails. I was pretty certain I knew that one! You got #92, but not #98.

Pushing this onto page 2 with some extensions:
98. Crawling side by side with hell freezing over HIM "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly" (halo19) 96. Grudges will die so slowly Another lyrics site has different lyrics for this portion, so I'll throw it out and use another. But it's time to say bye 95. But I/will not/hide 94. Days are slipping through my hands [Album track.][/color] 93. Until this empty place is filled, I’ll keep pretending [This might be a tough one, so I'll give more. It's an album track by the band that sang "Suspension".] Find my 2005 year-end chart. Both the songs in question appear there. Mae "Painless" (mega248) 92. I can feel their eyes are watching Nine Inch Nails "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" (halo19)

Still taking guesses for #105, but here's the next batch. 3 of these are album tracks.
105. It's just a matter of time before he finds another more fine/After he's done dulling your shine [This artist was on American Idol and was not eliminated.] Mario Vazquez "Gallery" (Mega248)
100. The guilty with the innocent Tool "The Pot" (crash46)
99. One of two things The Fray "How to Save a Life" (radical347) 98. Crawling side by side
97. Don't think you're safe Lostprophets "Everyday Combat" (crash46) 96. Grudges will die so slowly 95. But I will not hide 94. Slipping through my hands 93. Until this empty place is filled, I’ll keep pretending [This might be a tough one, so I'll give more. It's an album track by the band that sang "Suspension".] 92. Their eyes are watching
91. Left without a trace Angels & Airwaves "The Adventure" (crash46)

Would this happen to be "It's Not Over" by Daughtry? Nah, that's too new for making this chart. The artist of #105 was on American Idol, but was never eliminated.

I only needed the blue extension to recognize #104 as Alien Ant Farm's "Forgive and Forget." (I didn't realize there was any swearing in that song. Correct... 106 is "Guarded" by Disturbed. ...and correct.

105 seems so familiar. I was gonna say #102 was Buckcherry - Crazy Bitch, but I guess not after that clue. Wait a minute... isn't this correct? ...Yes it is. :-\ I wasn't sure whether he meant it as an actual guess, but I'll give him half the point anyway. And you get the other half, of course.

I'll go ahead and throw out some extensions for you guys to gnaw on while I'm gone. I'll be in New Orleans to watch the Saints' (meaningless for both teams now) game against the Panthers, and in Biloxi to ring in the new year. Hopefully we'll be ready to move on with the top 100 on Monday.

And so the annual month (or 4) of increased board activity begins with the first guessing game off the block. It will be lyrics-only this year, mostly because I'm lazy.
I'm technically only considering this a top 100, with an extra 6 songs hand-picked as honorable mentions. And having been unable to find a point system good enough to rank all songs to the accuracy I desire, I went ahead and hand-ranked the upper third or so of the top 100. The rest is entirely ranked by a point system.
The first round of clues is below.
106. Another one of those times Disturbed "Guarded" (crash46)
105. It's just a matter of time
104. f***, you're expensive Alien Ant Farm "Forgive and Forget" (a Nick O!)
103. All the mistakes I've made Staind "Right Here" (Mega248)
102. Get the video Buckcherry "Crazy Bitch" (picpak and Mega248)
101. Never seemed so long Anberlin "Paperthin Hymn" (Mega248)

There's no avoiding it -- "Plan B" will probably make it to #1 on either its 2nd or 3rd straight unbulleted week. And after I started a topic with the purpose of saying I wasn't overly impressed with the song, "Welcome to the Black Parade" has to be seen as a #1 dark horse. I still don't think it'll make it, but it could be by default. 28 months after "Pain" entered my top 100, Jimmy Eat World get their 4th top-10 hit from Futures with "Polaris". (Come to think of it... where's the new JEW album?!) By contrast, it took just 17 weeks for Evanescence to get 4 top-10s off The Open Door, but album tracks weren't allowed back in '04 when "Pain" and "Work" charted. Daughtry looks like a shoo-in for the top 20, and could make the top 10. The same goes for Stone Sour's 2nd single, which wasn't one of the three tracks off Come What(ever) May that I caught onto (and later charted), but is still just fine as a single. Remember what I said last week about tracks rarely debuting in the top 50? Well... throw everything out the window when it comes to Anberlin. The band that had 5 of my year-end top 20 in 2005 but considerably fewer in 2006 (don't think I'm giving you any clues as to this year's guessing game!) looks like it'll make another slew of chart appearances in '07, with a new album out in February.

There's really been a slowdown at the top, with songs 1-5 remaining the same for the past 3 weeks now. "The Only One" is certainly a worthy #1, but I'm not sure if it's worthy of 8 weeks, which is around what it may wind up with. Whatever replaces it might wind up doing so by default, as I can't find another #1 caliber song right now (besides the ones that have already been there) in the whole top 50 (including "Plan B", which I've already played the crap out of). "Polaris" surprisingly holds on and may even sneak into the top 10 as Ludacris falls. "Can't Catch Tomorrow" and "Lying Is the Most Fun..." keep trucking along. "Ladies and Gentlemen" is a pretty weak #50, but I couldn't justify "What Goes Around..." leapfrogging it already because, with only rare exceptions, I didn't debut songs straight into the top 50 when I had a top 100. Maybe that'll change in a few months if I'm paying attention to fewer songs overall, but not in week 2 of the slimmer chart. "A Special Christmas Box" (aka... well, I won't spoil the real title if you haven't watched it) is a hilarious SNL skit that comes nearly a year to the day after "Lazy Sunday". I don't watch the show much anymore, but everyone has been saying it's the best sketch since "Lazy Sunday" (and YouTubers seem to agree). I never gave "Here (In Your Arms)" a fair shake after being disappointed by "Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn", but I listened to it on a friend's MySpace page this week and liked it. "If Everyone Cared" is a nice improvement over "Far Away" in the Nickelback-chick-song department. P.S. The title at the top of my .PNG should say "December 22, 2006". The chart still comes out on Fridays.

165. Eighteen Visions “Broken Hearted” This is listed as going for Pop adds on March 6th. It's currently sitting at #42 without a bullet on Active Rock. The first listen to this on AllAccess reminds me a bit of Def Leppard.

Here it comes folks, the new, streamlined Matt's Top 50 for December 15, 2006: Top 10 Under the Radar (UtR): #1 Stone Sour - Sillyworld #2 Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen #3 Angels and Airwaves - The War #4 Akon f/Snoop Dogg - I Wanna Love You #5 Mat Kearney - Nothing Left to Lose #6 All-American Rejects - It Ends Tonight #7 Rihanna f/Sean Paul - Break It Off #8 Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow ((Hey Oh)) #9 Gnarls Barkley - Gone Daddy Gone #10 Hinder - How Long
An unusual week as the top 10 remain the same, but high-fives all around for Fergie (holding steady at 5-5* in its 5th week in the top 50, with a #5 peak). The insanity should end soon for "Fergalicious". Head Automatica and Jimmy Eat World have (finally) peaked. "Graduation Day" had a bit of extra-special meaning this week as I walked across the stage at the University of South Alabama; I listened to "Polaris" a few extra times after seeing that JEW had put the song on their MySpace page. There aren't any real breakers on the chart, but "My Love" and "Welcome to the Black Parade" continue to make nice gains. "Rooftops", like "Graduation Day" and "Polaris", is only making a temporary jump. It'll be gone by the first of the year.
