Instead of writing math assignments on the board as "Pg. 44 #1-10", my teacher has started putting it "Pg. 44 (1-10)".
I've actually neglected doing my assignments because it reminds me too much of Artie Ziff.

Me: hello, WFNM. other person: hey your show is really awesome! Me: thanks! Any song you'd like to hear today? other person: yeah! Can you play "So What I'm A Rockstar" by Pink? I think it fits in really well with the stuff you play. Me: sorry, I don't have that. Anything else you'd like to hear? other person: nah. bye! 1) How the heck does that fit in with anything I play (mainly alternative rock with some indie thrown in)? 2) If you insist on hearing that piece of garbage, at least get the title right. 3) What's the point of requesting songs that you can hear 10+ times a day on any of the three pop stations that can be picked up around here? But on a better note, when I played "Sometime Around Midnight", two people called in telling me they loved the song.

My punishment for waiting to the last minute on a school project yesterday: a bunch of craptastic songs from 1980 on this week's classic American Top 40 episode on Sirius (technically last week's since they replay the 12PM episode the following week at 8 PM). Three of which we get to hear twice! Because no one should go through their day without a double dose of Barbara Stresiand.

I believe I've found the best Alternative station in Canada. Or at least, one that doesn't play "Poets" to fill up their CanCon quota. They play the new songs, they play lesser-known songs by the 90's artists, hell, they even thrown in some Police and The Pretenders in there for good measure. Last night when I was listening to them they played "Heaven and Hot Rods" by Stone Temple Pilots. I mean...who plays that?

I looked at Mediabase's playlists and I checked out a radio station that used to be a mainstream "alternative" that's since flipped to Active. They aren't quite honestly sure whether or not they're Alt. or Active because:
"Spaceman" by the Killers twice in an Active Rock playlist within a few hours? Yeah, right. The Killers don't belong on that format, fwiw. The Vines "Get Free," Beastie Boys "Ch-Check It Out," Incubus "Love Hurts," Anberlin "Feel Good Drag," Tracy Bonham "Mother Mother" (remember we're in '08 now) and Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated." Yeah, not even my sometimes alternative-leaning Active station plays any of those at the moment. Shiny Toy Guns are probably played there because they're "local" to the area, in spite later relocating. "Ghost Town" isn't a stretch or anything anyway.

I actually had said this on the board before editing it out (I didn't want him to get any ideas), but if the moderators went back and locked old threads that have Artie's posts in them, he wouldn't be able to delete them, and eventually, his posting capabilities would disable themselves, once 420 of them get locked into place. Maybe it's worth a try...

Heh. I'd actually try that if there was a reasonably fast way to do it. Possibly after finals are over. Did anyone happen to see what he posted in here before apparently deleting it? I'm kinda curious.

I figured if anyone was familiar with the song, someone would've said something about it already. I dunno, maybe nobody's heard it? Anyway, it's a pretty buzzworthy Christmas song this year, and it's a rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas" by an a cappella group that call themselves Straight No Chaser. Currently seen on an AC chart near you. Basically they do the song, but at various points they start singing different Christmas carols in the middle of it all, other times they sing the song to the tune of other Christmas carols (or at least the "Ukranian Bell Carol"), they purposely screw up at one point, at another point one guy busts out a solo rendition of "The Dreidel Song," and the whole thing climaxes with the group singing to the tune of and then a variation on Toto's "Africa." Anyway, it's f***ing cool and I want a copy of it.

That almost sounds better than Bob and Doug McKenzie's "12 Days of Christmas".
Almost.

It can be heard here: wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/stra12da.wmaI had first heard of these guys several months ago in a local newspaper feature (they're from nearby Indiana). The article was about their record company learning of the group via YouTube and signing them in hopes of a holiday album this year.

The AT40 staff loves Muse. For the second year in a row, "Map of the Problematique" was used during the intro and "Hysteria" was used coming back from one of the breaks.
