I've never even seen Project Runway, but...yeah...I kinda get the impression that this helps explain why Islamic extremists hate America.

'DC Madam' found dead in Florida news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7378654.stmInteresting news...she commited suicide vs. up to 55 years in prison. One less wasting tax payer dollars, I suppose.

Hey Steve, did you, by chance, take part in that 23-cent Papa John's pizza deal going on in your area? I'm so jealous; if I lived in Ohio, theoretically I wouldn't have to worry about lunch or dinner for the next two weeks. Of course, that's assuming pizza doesn't spoil if you leave it in the fridge for two weeks.

Of course, that's assuming pizza doesn't spoil if you leave it in the fridge for two weeks. I read about it last week shortly after that series had ended and I was under the impression that it was only gonna be for the Cleveland area. Yesterday though, I'm just driving home and I noticed a Black Friday type of line wrapped around the Papa John's which caused my shoulders to sink back into the seat because I realized I'd missed out. That particular location had to close at 5pm because they ran out of ingredients. They were passing out vouchers to those still waiting in line that would still honor the deal through the 11th. If I hadn't missed the boat, I'd be thinking along the same line as you and furthermore, I wouldn't worry about breakfast either.

I was wishing they'd done that here, I think I would have bought out the store myself. Ha.

Madonna's "Miles Away" has the same chord progression as New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" (and "The Real Thing" by Gwen Stefani).

Apparently since server 48 is being repaired, it was taken offline and anyone was allowed to register the Pulse domain in the meantime. And the first person to do so was one of the participants in the mass boardicide last fall (for those who don't know, about 50 people (none of whom added anything of substance to the board) decided that the Pulse admins were biased and unfair and decided to leave and make their own board. 99% of the posts on that board are those one-line catch phrases that have been beaten to death on Pulse for months, if not years). Apparently they're still holding this same grudge 6 months later. Hopefully the board will be restored to its rightful condition in the next 24-48 hours.

Wow. I knew that the proboards servers were on the fritz, but when I saw the page this morning, I thought someone decided to celebrate April Fool's day two months too late. I'll be supremely pissed off if the original data from Pulse is lost because some petulent Christina Aguilera douchebag-fans decided to play a prank. I just hope that the regular contributors who actually post something worthwhile don't see the board and think it's been converted permanently to that state and walk away for good.

Haven't been to Hot Topic in a while before I worked in there the other day and some of the s*** they're selling there now. I mean, they had Augustana shirts there. What the hell has happened to them. Nothing against Augustana and their music, but how did they end up in that store.

Music I listened to today: I didn't have to go to work or do much today, so I jammed it full of listening to CDs and other music. AT40 in the morning Ashes Divide's album pre, during, and post-shower Both discs of Moby's Hotel, which I am finally fully familiar with 3 years and 1 new Moby album later. (made myself eggs and waffles during this) Radiohead - In Rainbows Serj Tankian's record Madonna's new album (fixed myself a sandwich and lunch during this) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walked to grocery store to get change for laundry (no iPod or anything) Did laundry (read further in my current magazine) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Refreshed myself with the first Mars Volta album during laundry folding Refreshed myself with STP's Purple... ...and Panic! at the Disco's first album while I made myself dinner. Then proceeded to listen to these while on the computer before bed: Shiny Toy Guns' and OneRepublic's albums in reverse order to get more familiar with the songs at the end and so the albums wouldn't be predictable and routine, while I'm trying to learn all the songs. Finally, I popped in the new Portishead album and played it all the way through for the very first time in the month and a half it's been out. And I still managed to talk to my Dad awhile for Father's Day.

I bought three pairs of jeans yestersday for just $599 each and they own everything and anything one can find behind the doors of Hot Topic.

I just looked at all the 2008 albums that I've listened to so far, and depending on how you look at it, my three top albums so far all are arguably 2007 releases, but I include all of 'em for this year. But one of those is merely the second half of a "2007" release.

For the second half of Ryan's phone interview with Kate Hudson on AT40 this morning, the music bed used was "Baby's Got a Temper," ("We take Rohypnol/We love Rohypnol, etc...Just forget it all") the 2002 single by the Prodigy that never ended up on an album, because Liam thought it sounded too similar to the stuff they were doing back in '97. Eerily, I just happened to play this song for the first time in years last week on a mix CD in the car on the way to the Ladytron show, because their song "Seventeen" was also on said mix CD. And just for s***s and giggles, here's the tracklisting for said mix CD: Fall 2002 01. Eminem "Lose Yourself" 02. TLC "Girl Talk" 03. LL Cool J f/ Marc Dorsey "Luv U Better" 04. Ja Rule f/ Bobby Brown "Thug Lovin'" 05. Santana f/ Michelle Branch "The Game of Love" 06. Good Charlotte "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" (later bought the album )07. Home Town Hero "Bleeds in Blue" (not the single at the time, but the song I liked best when I saw them open for Incubus. I liked it so much I researched which one it was when I got home.)08. Bright Eyes "Lover I Don't Have to Love" (Thanks to Carson Daly's syndicated "Out of the Box" program Sunday nights on Memphis' Hot AC station. (I mean, I guess it was vaguely Alternative leaning, but it's not like Memphis didn't have an Alternative station as it was. Anyway, I burned off the album two years ago , but I haven't actually gotten around to putting it in, so it's OK.)09. Musiq "Dontchange" 10. Shaggy f/ Brian & Tony Gold "Hey Sexy Lady" 11. (Big Lebowski dialogue "Nobody f***s with the Jesus") 12. Prodigy "Baby's Got a Temper" 13. Ladytron "Seventeen" (Thanks to Out of the Box for bringing this/them to my awareness.)14. Pearl Jam "I Am Mine" 15. Jerry Cantrell "Angel Eyes" 16. Faith Hill "Cry" (Hot Angie Aparo remake! Literally!)17. The Vines "Ms. Jackson" (Heard this on Out of the Box and had to have it.)18. (Big Lebowski dialogue "The Eulogy") 19. Bon Jovi "Everyday" 20. Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This"

So I was listening to 89x's all-request drive home on my way back from work, when an obnoxious-sounding song came on, unidentified, leading me to say to myself "What the hell is this oscillationary crap doing on my radio.", and I listened long enough to have a couple lyrics committed to memory. Simply so I could get home and search those lyrics to see if it was actually one of those bands.
It was "Shut Up And Let Me Go" by the Ting Tings.
The thing is though, their first hit, "Great DJ" was obnoxious by any definition you can come up with, but the new single is only obnoxious due to what it reminds me of, and is otherwise not bad at all.

I have a theory. What if her beloved "Drama Queen" by The Switches had a completely different band name and song title? What if the band name was something like, say, The Beerbuckets (I don't know; I'm trying here) and the song's name was "Born to Rock"? Despite the name changes though, it would be the exact same song. Honestly, The Switches are a name that fits right in between The Kills and Elbow. And let's face it, the song titles in her top 5 (Sour Cherry, Shut Up & Let Me Go, Drama Queen, Discipline, Grounds For Divorce) aren't exactly the most conventional. Or at least, they aren't as trite and unimaginative as "Born to Rock". So what do you think? Would oscie gladly gloat and promote The Beerbuckets' "Born to Rock"?
