This will be the thread for all my year-end charts this year. We start this year by ranking the 30 concerts I went to this year. (As an intern at The Complex in Memphis this fall, technically I saw a few more, but I'm only counting the ones I actually paid attention to the whole time):

I only went to four concerts this year. 4. Weezer* (w/The Bravery & The Dead 60s)July 16 @ Alabama St. and Pryor St., Atlanta, GA 3. Papa Roach (w/Alien Ant Farm & Last AmAndA)August 5 @ The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, NV 2. Anberlin (w/Tyler Read & Terminal)April 10 @ The Palace at the House of Blues, New Orleans, LA 1. Foo Fighters & Weezer (w/Mae)September 8 @ The Arena at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, GA *I only stayed for about one-fourth of Weezer's set. If I had a choice to see either my number 1 concert again or all the other concerts I went to this year, I'd see Foo Fighters and Weezer again.

Don't feel bad; I only saw a few. Most of it was local anyway. I think NIN was the only major show that I went to see.

Here's a new guessing game for you guys: my top 50 worst songs of the year. I'd like to get through these before I start posting my lyric clues for my Top 256 songs of the year, which will immediately follow this game's conclusion. Let's begin. 50. I kinda liked this one at first, but then turned on it, hating it the most of their 3 '05 singles. Surprisingly, the other ones didn't make it. Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" (Mega248)49. Critically acclaimed artist who is hit-or-boring with me. This is her worst single so far, in my opinion. Alicia Keys "Unbreakable" (Mega248)48. New rapper now under the wing of a cooled-off production team. Although the spelling is correct, his horrendous pronunciation of one of the title words is too heinous to forgive. No wonder this song bombed and his album was pushed back. Slim Thug "Like a Boss" (halo19)47. New post-grunge hacks who thankfully look like they'll be one-hit-wonders. No Address "When I'm Gone (Sadie)" (halo19)46. Rapper currently having his breakthrough crossover success with this song. Juelz Santana "There It Go (The Whistle Song)" (mtm4319)45. Phony posturing to gain "street cred." A carryover from last year that I figured would be much higher. Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne "Soldier" [2004: #19] (mtm4319)44. Vile second single from throwback band who claim to never have owned an album by the band they most shamelessly sound like. Silvertide "Blue Jeans" (mtm4319) 43. No one will ever get this, so I'll explain why it's so bad, then give synonymous clues for the artist and title. Basically, they sound like if Justin Hawkins were fronting a throwback metal band instead of a throwback hard rock band. The sad thing is, though, that I'm 90% sure these guys are dead serious: Approx. 7.5 cm of vampire sustenance "Lethal Evildoers." 3 Inches of Blood "Deadly Sinners" (mtm4319)42. Almost the title of a song by a fading spiky-haired heartthrob. Add two words and you got it. Baby a.k.a. Birdman f/ Lil Wayne "Get Your Shine On" (halo19)41. Obnoxiously sassy song about being raised in a broken home. To my delight, it bombed. Teairra Mari "No Daddy" (halo19)

44. Bla-- er, I mean Silvertide - Blue Jeans
43. 3 Inches of Blood - Deadly Sinners

All correct except #47 and I'm amazed you were so resourceful already for #43. Okay, I was wondering if anyone else had heard "There It Go" (I saw mostly NAs on the most recent report card topic). To me, it sounds like "Tipsy"'s annoying little brother.

I like Crash's suggestion for 49, so I'll guess it's Alicia Keys's "Karma".
41 I'm thinking Lindsay Lohan's "Confessions of a Broken Heart" even though I've never heard the song.
50 and 42 are going to need some more clues I think.

Well, I have an idea who the spiky-haired heartthrob is for #42, but I'm having trouble thinking of the necessary song title that adds two words.

49. Alicia Keys - Diary (?. I figure it must be her.) Sh**, I had totally forgotten about that single, though it was from last year. I still think this one's worse, though. You and slinky both have the right artist, but the wrong song. So, sad to yank the fishhooked money away from the both of you, but it's an open race to the correct single, now. 41 I'm thinking Lindsay Lohan's "Confessions of a Broken Heart" even though I've never heard the song. "Confessions" is neither obnoxioius nor sassy and I imagine BlahBlahBlah could get #41 if he poked his head in here, but I will go ahead and add additional clues for all the remaining ones now: 50. I kinda liked this one at first, but then turned on it, hating it the most of their 3 '05 singles. Surprisingly, the other ones didn't make it. Giveaway clue: My girlfriend adorably refers to it as "The Camel Song." Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" (Mega248)49. pending correct guess Alicia Keys "Unbreakable" (Mega248)42. Almost the title of a song by a fading spiky-haired heartthrob. Add two words and you got it. (I might clarify that adding two words to his gives you the title of #42.) The song in question promotes obscene materialism and is performed by an entrepreneur, one of whose names steps all over the surname of an Adult Swim cartoon I adore, to blaspheme it by refering to the police lookout in a drug-dealing neighborhood. Baby a.k.a. Birdman f/ Lil Wayne "Get Your Shine On" (halo19)41. Obnoxiously sassy song about being raised in a broken home. To my delight, it bombed. Had a fine Rhythmic/Urban hit that surprisingly never crossed over to Pop. This was its follow-up. Teairra Mari "No Daddy" (halo19)

I was completely surprised (and saddened) that "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "Don't Lie" would not be showing up and that this wasn't a lot higher.

I was gonna guess "My Humps" when I first saw those but thought it was way too low, and there must've been a lot I didn't really hear . I hate to put answers on ones directed to others, but the one I recognize immediately is #41. That's probably "No Daddy" by Teairra Mari.

I hate to put answers on ones directed to others, but the one I recognize immediately is #41. That's probably "No Daddy" by Teairra Mari. Hey man, I'm just glad somebody finally knew it. You were my last holdout, so if you didn't know, I'd have to post even more clues for those two. But now with only one left in the set, I feel good about moving to 40-31. 42. Surely he wept when Hurricane Katrina destroyed his hometown. Baby a.k.a. Birdman f/ Lil Wayne "Get Your Shine On" (halo19)40. She's got 3 songs I've actually heard. The first one was a fine ballad maybe 5 years ago. The next one was just god-awful, and this follow-up single has nothing to do with anything, with seemingly random, stupid lyrics. Jo Dee Messina "Delicious Surprise (I Believe It)" (halo19)39. This girl, whom I at first mistook for someone else with a pending music career, needs a little bit of a geography lesson, as well as to learn the difference between urban and rural. Tyra "Country Boy" (halo19)38. Debut single from rapper whose public image I probably hate more than his actual music. Make no mistake: this song still sucks big time. Young Jeezy f/ Mannie Fresh "And Then What" (halo19)37. I have no idea what his stage name is supposed to mean. Oversexed debut single from artist whose album title is 3 words that are so misspelled I mistook it for gibberish I just "didn't understand" for like, a minute. T-Pain "I'm Sprung" (BlahBlahBlah)36. Blatant sex ballad that thankfully never crossed over to Pop radio. Marques Houston "Naked" (halo19)35. The title of his new album (doing career-best- business, bafflingly) rides the coattails of his previous album, which was probably his worst received. He just wants an excuse to make another reference to the drug complex in New Jack City. This is the first single from it. I hope it doesn't cross over. Lil Wayne "Fireman" (BlahBlahBlah)34. This single isn't flying up the charts as expected, so I believe his album has been pushed back. His breakthrough came in 2004, especially with a drivel surefire hit. Lil' Flip f/ Mannie Fresh "What It Do" (halo19)33. Awful trash first single (which featured the artist at #35) quickly swept under the rug as if it never happened. Subsequently, artist's "first" single from the record is artist's first breakthrough crossover single. Trina f/ Lil Wayne "Don't Trip" (BlahBlahBlah)32. Guest artists galore pile on, making this current single vile and god-awful. Too many cooks spoil the broth, guys. The Notorious B.I.G. f/ Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge & Avery Storm "Nasty Girl" (BlahBlahBlah)31. I doubt anyone else actually heard this, but it came out early in the year. Primary artist's name is the name of a Ryan Cabrera tune with a silent vowel left off. Clichéd "representing" song with many labelmates. Tru "Where U From" (halo19)

36. R. Kelly- "Sex In The Kitchen" 32. Dem Franchize Boyz f/ Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat & Bow Wow- "I Think They Like Me" While technically 36 is correct, it's not what I had in mind. I'm thinking of someone a good 10-15 years younger. And there's a good reason that so many people wanted to get on the #32 single. Both of Kirk's guesses, however, are correct.

36. Sex Wit You - Marques Houston 35. Fireman - Lil' Wayne 33. Don't Trip - Trina f/Lil' Wayne 32. Kryptonite (I'm On It) - Purple Ribbon All-Stars f/Big Boi ? Very close on 36, but I wouldn't have said "blatant sex ballad" if the word were in the actual title. You got 35 & 33, though. More clues: 42. Almost the title of [Ryan Cabrera's most recent hit. Add two words his song and you got the title]. The song in question promotes obscene materialism and is performed by an entrepreneur, one of whose names steps all over the surname of an Adult Swim cartoon I adore, to blaspheme it by refering to the police lookout in a drug-dealing neighborhood. Surely he wept when Hurricane Katrina destroyed his hometown. Nothing still? Well, OK, maybe he also soiled himself in shock, or took a nap to sleep off some stress, or I dunno, ate something. She sings country. The song is (almost?) entirely falsetto. That would be the sugary, obvious crossover duet after a single that should have crossed over. The reason so many people wanted to jump on this song is to pay respects. The Notorious B.I.G. f/ Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge & Avery Storm "Nasty Girl" (BlahBlahBlah)31. I doubt anyone else actually heard this, but it came out early in the year. Primary artist's Excuse me, I was mistaken. Group's name is the name of a Ryan Cabrera tune with a silent vowel left off. Clichéd "representing" song with many labelmates. I now believe they all are in the group. Look 'em up if you're stumped. If you find 'em and the correct album, you'll figure out the song immediately. Tru "Where U From" (halo19)

40. Martina McBride - "God's Will" 36. Marques Houston - "Naked" 31. Tru - "Where U From" (the one I had to look up)
I can't think of #42. There's a song title that almost fits what I'm thinking of but that was way before this year and likely wouldn't be found on a list like that.

37. I'm Sprung - T-Pain 32. Nasty Girl - The Notorious B.I.G. f/Diddy, Jagged Edge, Nelly & Avery Storm
Though, I would say the song was "sung" using a vocoder rather than a falsetto.

40. Martina McBride - "God's Will" 36. Marques Houston - "Naked" 31. Tru - "Where U From" (the one I had to look up) 36 & 31 are correct (nice job on 31). And with "God's Will," I dislike that song too, especially for what it turned out to be, but I just can't villify a song about a disabled kid. I at least knew what she was going for with this one. I think I've only heard two of hers, including "I Love You," back in '99, which I really liked. Did she do "Concrete Angel"? That would make three total if that's Martina. But no, 40 isn't her. 37. I'm Sprung - T-Pain 32. Nasty Girl - The Notorious B.I.G. f/Diddy, Jagged Edge, Nelly & Avery Storm
Though, I would say the song was "sung" using a vocoder rather than a falsetto. You got 'em. I realize there's a hell of a lot of vocoder on that song, but surely it's his falsetto going into it, right? (I haven't made myself sit through it in awhile, so I don't remember what all's natural and what's not.) Ahh! I just remembered about Baby a.k.a. Birdman. And the song is "Get Your Shine On". Yes! And an additional clue for #34 is the title (and the video makes this blatantly obvious) is apparently an aspiring (if not actual by now) catchphrase originating from the Houston hip hop scene. Add this to the clues given earlier to figure out who/what this is. Even if 40 & 34 aren't correctly guessed by the time I check back in tomorrow, I'll go ahead and post 30-20. I'm off to bed.
