The song in #14 is more obscure, because it also did not make the pop chart. The artist is not more well known, but think of a different letter for the beginning.
#20: Group's abbreviation is the same as a major area of this country.

Posting the clues for the remaining into the next page:
20. Two artists in this group have been represented already. 18. Maybe the thing about the older artist threw people off. Has two guests, one incidentally in that other clue. People need to tell them that "drank" is the incorrect tense (wow, speaking of which, there is another one I wrongly left out!).
14. Well, that first clue is true, and they're like an R&B boy band. 12. Artist was correctly guessed in the same range.

Other clues...
18. An out-of-place reference is the song title (or it seems that way to me).
Not done yet:
10. Untalented band has yet another cliché title. Both are one word; band's name could either be seen as an adjective or an object. Dope - "Always" (a Nick O!) 9. I tried both liking and hating it, interestingly enough. The latter turned out to be far more successful. Hawthorne Heights - "Ohio Is for Lovers" (radical347) 8. Same type of song as #36 and 18, and this is a pop crossover, from much earlier in the year as well. Trillville f/ Cutty - "Some Cut" (a Nick O!) 7. This one's the shortest song title on here. Omarion - "O" (Mega248) 6. They basically prove that they are complete skanks here. Pussycat Dolls f/ Busta Rhymes - "Don't Cha" (mtm4319) 5. Most commonly guessed song. Now it's here! D4L - "Laffy Taffy" (mtm4319) 4. Really lame attempt to make an anthem for the streets. Destiny's Child - "Soldier" (Mega248) 3. Two wash-ups make a song that could potentially not suck, but none of that potential is done. Really a 2004 song, and no one I know has ever liked it. Shania Twain f/ Mark McGrath - "Party for Two" (mtm4319) 2. I wish I could rip out one of their vocal chords. Extremely repetitive. Black Eyed Peas - "My Humps" (a Nick O!) 1. Embarassing cover. Jessica Simpson - "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" (crash46)

Aaaaahhhh... I had briefly thought 20 might be "Cater 2 U" but this is what threw me off: 10. Crossfade - Colors 9. Bowling for Soup - Ohio 7. Ciara ft. Ludacris - Oh 4. Blackeyedpeas - Don'tf***withmyheart

LOL, I meant to add "that were released this year".
#7 is really similar in the title to the one you guessed So is #9.. One artist is there with a different title.
#10 is probably most known for an '80s song they covered a few years ago. I liked it but it also highlighted how awful they were.

2. Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" ?
I'm gonna need another clue for #18 because I scanned my song list of 2005 and then back far enough into 2004 and I still have no idea what song you're talking about.
And I hate to blow your mind or shatter your illusion, but I just read in a recent issue of Blender yesterday or so that "Just the Girl" by the Click Five was written by Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne.

Well, #18 may have also alluded the remix or something, something I'm assuming because I don't recall either being on the video. The somewhat out-of-place reference is a political one.
Yes to "My Humps", "O", and "Ohio Is for Lovers".
That means we have #18 & 10, then it's all finished. I think I'll post my favorite albums of the year next. (10 is hard rock. That alone should get you on track for the answer).
Re: "Just the Girl": No wonder it sounds a bit like "Stacy's Mom"-lite, haha. And ten years ago he was a guest on a Pumpkins b-side.

18. YoungBloodZ "Presidential" ? (If that's it, that was a truly horrendous video. The song I don't remember so much. I had come up with this earlier, but the guest artists thing threw me off.)
10. Dope "Always"

Only #4 is left now, and the artist had another song on. It was on my list last year, but it peaked and was heard by me way more this year, so it appears again, only MUCH higher. On Davey's All-Time Annoying List, streets were used for the clue of this song.

All the while, I'm trying to listen to as many of my albums of this year that I'm not yet familiar with as possible.

Nouvelle Vague is a bossa nova act who did an album full of '80s new wave, punk, and goth covers. The track I still like the most is a remake of "Marian" by Sisters of Mercy.

I own: 21. Foo Fighters - In Your Honor 01. System of a Down - Mezmerize/Hypnotize And I like to think I got a lot of albums this year. I guess too many of them were older ones, though. I didn't even get Hypnotize until today. (And before anyone ponders why I'd own Hypnotize and not Mezmerize, I wanted these albums for Christmas, but because my dad didn't see Mezmerize in the "New Albums" section he didn't get it. So now I gotta spend my Best Buy gift card of unknown value on that one.)

I've heard a few tracks off of that Nouvelle Vague CD. I would try making a list like this, but this year it probably wouldn't be very big.

Well if you could, you could do it with the really bad ones included . Anyway, before I get to my clues later on, I will give these as some of my most anticipated 2006 releases (alphabetic order; all studio): Beastie Boys - TBA De/Vision - Subkutan [Feb. 7; U.S.] Dr. Dre - Detox [but LOL, one of the commonly delayed albums] Flaming Lips - At War with the Mystics The Hives - TBA The Killers - TBA [if Flood and Alan Moulder are touching it, it's going to be awesome. I know that.] Lit - TBA [I'm amazed how much they rebounded from the bland Atomic with the last one.] Ministry - Rio Grande Blood [April. And assuming that they come here a month later, I am counting on that.] Muse - TBA OutKast - Idlewild soundtrack OutKast - 10 the Hard Way Radiohead - TBA Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium Sonic Youth - Sonic Life [but wow, what's with the "sonic" album titles?] Tool - that album that's been delayed like 3x or so. [the sticker for the DVD singles said spring.] VAST - Dedicate a Place for Me [working title.] Then there's tons of them that are by artists that I like that I kind of would have to hear what they do first before deciding about buying. But it'd be great if a NIN album really did come out next year (I'm anticipating it at more of an '07 release).

Okay! Now we're finally at the part that everyone has been waiting for: The year-end good songs. I can't guarantee that it'll be the last one of these, but this one should be a little bit easier than 2004, because a lot of songs here are less obscure than those.
100. "I hope it's your eyes He's seeing through" Depeche Mode - "Precious" (slinky) 99. "you could make me say your name" 98. [album cut (US)/single (Eur.)] Artist: two words. Title: seven words. I don't think people would know this by lyrics, so I didn't bother. Kaiser Chiefs - "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" (a Nick O!) 97. [album cut] "wallowing in a pool of gasoline" Hot Hot Heat - "Running Out of Time" (mtm4319) 96. [album cut] "you can't change anything" Nine Inch Nails - "You Know What You Are?" (a Nick O!) 95. [Internationally a single, at least] "everything I own is on I.O.U." (but like 98, people maybe haven't heard it. Artist had a song which was used on a car commercial.) M.I.A. - "Pull Up the People" (mtm4319) 94. "you don't wanna start no drama" 93. [album cut] "bleeding all your colors into one" 92. [album cut] Came to my chart about seven years after it was made. Whole track is paired in two, the latter asking a question. Tripping Daisy - "Our Long Drive to the Sun/Can a Man Mark It?" (a Nick O!) 91. "this house doesn't make a home" U2 - "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" (crash46)
By the way, there is a lot of album cuts in that batch, but unlike with last year, they're mostly toward the bottom.
