One year after everybody decided to do it, I published a Top 500 Songs of the 2000s list about a month ago. The first installment has been posted on Pulse's personal chart thread and more will follow.

I look at Pulse's YOP section and like 4 topics are based on Lady Gaga/"Born This Way." No offense, but you can't just condense that into one topic. Then again, I bet it'll have about that many threads made in the Pop forum, with tons of posts about any remote chart updates.

The "Born This Way" thread in the pop forum is on page 96 as I type this. It also bears mentioning that the song's world premier being at 4 AM EST wasn't enough to stop the thread from getting 10 new pages of replies within the next hour.

I see the topic for "Hold it against me" has made it all the way to page 260 without crashing the board. I also wonder how big a deal Lady Gaga would be to Pulse in a world where the whole "Lady Gaga is a tranny" hysteria never existed. Surely she'd still be popular and all, but that rumor alone probably buzzes the f*** out of Lady Gaga to those absent-minded kids on that CHR forum.

They lasted a few more months than I thought they would (and actually improved quite a bit from that time, although that's not saying much) but Channel 92.3's new owners finally took over. But they're not Spanish! Not yet, anyway. They're still alternative, and MUCH better than before -- in fact, they resemble what Channel 92.3 was back when they were still good! Overplayed 90s grunge & late 90s butt rock...gone! Gorillaz, Passion Pit, and White Lies have returned along with dozens of other hot new bands. "Flash Delerium" even made a return! Their playlist & top songs: www.yes.com/#KSJO (Monday at about 1:20 PM was when it officially flipped; the first new song was "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine.") We're not sure whether this is just stunting while Principle gets its act together, although it's damn good stunting if it is. Whatever the case, I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

Now that's a playlist. In practice it's probably snobby as hell, but in writing it looks great.

I bet had this topic been bumped, Artie would have changed it to "The White Stripes AirBrackets (Round x)" from the original title. Had he not changed the RHCP topic, I would have tried linking this for proof of his ridiculous topics for songs that don't really exist. no one linked it when the topic was made after the band's demise.

The new 92.3, alas, was too good to last. It's Chinese pop now. What we'd been hearing on air was www.savealternative.com. Apparently they stepped in and asked to broadcast while Principle got their act together. Still, at least we got them for two weeks. They're still broadcasting online and on 104.9 HD-2. Oh yeah, and we started a petition to get them back on the air. (This was partially in response to the idiotic "Save Channel 92.3" petition that popped up after SaveAlternative took over.) We almost have as many signatures as the Save Channel petition now! LOL!: www.change.org/petitions/save-savealternative-on-923#?opt_new=t&opt_fb=t

They don't try as hard = less horrifying, more bland.

Chinese pop is all about copying trends from other cultures' music. With that being said, Chinese "rap" is quite revolting.

So this "Pulse Clue Board" is a legit gag this time, right? Like the "ProBoards is changing it's [sic] name to HappyBoards." announcement at the top of the screen?

Shoot. I missed the whole thing this year. I worked from 8AM to noon. Napped from 12:30 to 3PM. Didn't think about Pulse at all as I passed the time until 4:45. Got ready and left for my evening shift at 5:30ish. Got back home at 1AM. Saw this. Already too late. What'd I miss?

You can see it for yourself if you go to modify your profile and under account preferences, select skin "April Fools 2011".
Just a simple, Clue-themed layout and censored words list. As usual, the ones who disliked it spoke less articulately than those who got it.

I'll have to check it out when I get more than a few spare minutes. As usual, the ones who disliked it spoke less articulately than those who got it. LOL

I hope that's aimed at the HappyBoards prank, not Pulse Clue Board, because I was actually really proud of the way that one turned out. Speaking of HappyBoards, I noticed that announcement disappeared about halfway through the day. I wonder if they eventually caught the grammatical error and decided it would be easier to just abandon the prank altogether at that point?

Well my alternative station is gone as well, again . When I woke up Tuesday, the station was in stunt mode. I knew the final result more than likely wasn't going to be good. So the flip was completed on Thursday, and the new format was: another CHR . Just what the world f***ing needed. Now I'm stuck with that 89x, which has "Hear Me Now" as its #1 song now, and My Darkest Days' "Every Lie", "Riptide", and "Issues" inexplicably in its top ten. . Plus I'll have to get online to listen to Out of Order now, too. This blows! Corporate radio is such bulls***.

Sorry to hear that, buddy. It definitely leaves a lot to be desired and is only getting worse, as far as relevancy goes.

I tell ya, not having a modern rock station worth listening to...I go to the bar, some chick walks up to the jukebox and picks a song. It happened to be "Savior" by Rise Against. And I was like, "Hmm. Neat!" Totally would not have happened three months ago. She'd have to try a little harder for me to buy her a beer though .

So I guess I should ask this here...
Britney Spears's "Till the World Ends" came up one day last week on my Grooveshark playlist, but instead of the 3:58-ish album version (or what I assume is the album version), I heard a different version. It contained the uncensored line "If you want this good shit" (not "good ish"), and the bridge was replaced with what sounds like the first half of the breakdown in the Femme Fatale remix (with Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha), then went straight to the last "oh-oh-oh-oh" part. It clocked in at 3:24. I thought the song was put together much better and started anticipating the track coming around again... until a couple of times later, when the file pointed back to the album version again. Does anywhere know of a place online where I could hear or download the version this sounds most like?

Don't know, homey. I assume you checked Wikipedia (it was no help; none of the different remixes are the proper length or anything close). To be honest, I haven't taken the initiative yet to stream the Femme Fatale remix. Have you already asked around (somewhere) on Pulse?

When a group of three black guys, all neighborhood-ish looking, stepped on the karaoke stage, we all thought the DJ had started spinning the wrong track when we heard the intro to The Killers' "When You Were Young". But he wasn't. Oh, he wasn't. . And if that wasn't awesome enough, the same three came back on a half hour later and did "I Was Wrong" by Social D. WTF!!! Who taught them that song! . Just another night of one Sugarland song after another and the ice finally gets broken by the most unlikely of sources!

Maybe they just play a lot of Rock Band. Yes. YES. I didn't really put too much thought into it before, but it all adds up. Because if I recall, those were both songs that came with one of the early games, were they not? Don't own any gaming systems, but I know I played the s*** out of them whenever we played Rock Band a couple years ago or whenever it was...
