Now here's one that hasn't yet been done and isn't too prolific. Of course, you could add the dozens of frequently played album cuts that are played like they were hits, too.
01. The Man Who Sold the World: A+ 02. All Apologies 03. Come as You Are 04. Lake of Fire: A 05. Lithium 06. Smells Like Teen Spirit 07. About a Girl (Unplugged) 08. Love Buzz: A- 09. Blew 10. Heart-Shaped Box 11. Aneurysm (Live): B+ 12. In Bloom 13. Sliver: B 14. You Know You're Right

What's your basis for qualifying "Blew," "Love Buzz," and "Lake of Fire" as singles?

I thought "Verse, Chorus, Verse" was a single too. It made the R and R singles chart, I know that much.

What's your basis for qualifying "Blew," "Love Buzz," and "Lake of Fire" as singles? I don't know about the other two, but "Love Buzz" was actually pressed as a physical single - Sub Pop 23.

"Love Buzz" was the first Nirvana single and was included in the Sub Pop 200 compilation of the label's singles. The single was actually released in 1988, one year before Bleach was even out. There was similarly an EP released for "Blew," and was originally where "Been a Son" and "Stain" (later included in Incesticide) appeared. I thought it would be fair enough to include those two. Similarly "Sliver" was originally a single from them in 1990 and then got radio push when Incesticide was out.
"Lake of Fire", I don't know about the R&R stats, but on Billboard, it made the Album/Mainstream Rock chart and top 30 was decent enough for my inclusion, as a third single. Besides, I sometimes hear it played as a gold.

Besides, I sometimes hear it played as a gold. Well then, "On a Plain" charted briefly in the Top 30 of Billboard's Modern Rock tracks the same week "Come as You Are" debuted. "Lithium" charted only a month later and spent only one week more than "On a Plain." Both peaked at #25. We all forgot "Dumb"and it appears the Wishkah version of "Drain You" was effectively a follow-up to "Aneurysm" at the end of of '96/beginning of '97. It peaked at #44.

I never read anywhere about "Dumb" ever being a single, so I kind of assumed it was a popular album cut. I forgot the thing about "On a Plain" as well briefly. I guess that could be #7 if you include that. Wikipedia lists the "Drain You" version as a single, but I just didn't quite heed it.

"Dumb" spent 3 weeks in R&R's Alternative Top 40 in June, peaking at #37. My station played it frequently that summer, as I recall. It kind of bridged the gap between "All Apologies" and "About a Girl (Unplugged)."
