Since we seem to have enough active members on this board now, I was thinking of perhaps having a music awards-type thing, kinda like the thing we had back in the other board.
Here are the categories I'm thinking of having right now:
Best Adult Contemporary Album
Best Adult Contemporary Single
Best AAA/Hot AC Album
Best AAA/Hot AC Single
Best Alternative Album
Best Alternative Single
Best Hip-Hop/Rap Album
Best Hip-Hop/Rap Single
Best Pop Album
Best Pop Single
Best R&B Album
Best R&B Single
Best Rock Album
Best Rock Single
Best T-Pain Single
Best Music Video
Best Album from a New Artist
Album of the Year
Single of the Year
I know there are more genres that's not listed above but I was thinking that maybe we wouldn't have enough people to vote for those categories. However, if there's any that you think we should really include, then speak up.
Here is the proposed process and guidelines:
Nomination period: During this period, each member of SMB will have a chance to submit a list of nominees he or she feels deserved to be nominated for each category. This will be done through PMs. There is no limit to the number of nominees to submit per person per category.
Shortlist voting round #1: All the nominees from the nomination period will be revealed. In the first round of shortlist voting, each member may distribute 200 points amongst all nominees from ALL categories. This will be done through PM's.
Shortlist voting round #2: The results from round #1 will be revealed and the Top 15 nominees from each category will stay. In the event of ties causing more than 15 nominees to be considered in the "Top 15", then more than 15 nominees may be allowed to stay in this round. In this round, further voting occurs as each member distributes 100 points amongst all nominees from all categories. Once again, voting will be done through PMs.
Award voting: The Top 5 nominees from each category from the last round will stay. In the event of ties causing more than 5 nominees to be considered in the "Top 5", then more than 5 nominees may be allowed to stay in this round. In this round, each member may distribute 50 points amongst all nominees from all categories. Voting will be done through PMs. The winner from each category will be determined by the nominee with the highest point total for that category.
Tie-breakers: In the event of two or more nominees getting the same number of points during the award voting round, then the tie will be broken by first comparing the points each nominee received from shortlist round #2. If this still results in a tie, then the points received from shortlist round #1 will be used. If that also results in a tie, then all songs that are tied will be declared winners of the category.
Eligibility: For all album categories, albums nominated must have release dates between Oct 1, 2006 to Sept. 30, 2007. Eligibility for single categories are up to voting members' discretion.
