. I have the Butterfly album on cassette tape. If they were given to me I would not reject anything released prior to that, although I wouldn't be caught dead with anything released after it. I picked "talented, but...", although that's not really accurate, because on the basis of anything she's released in the 2000's, it's not my kind of music, but she's not talented, either.

I voted for casual fan because I liked her a lot before Rainbow, but she's released too many not-so-good songs since then. I still haven't picked up her latest album (as well as the one before it) and most likely won't.

I had Emotions. I sold it. I had Music Box. It's sitting in my closet with a stack of other CDs, waiting to be sold one day. I had Merry Christmas. I sold that pretty quick. I was almost interested in buying Daydream, but I held off. My girlfriend at the time got it, and so did a lot of her friends, so I figured it wasn't necessary to get it, seeing Mariah's previous track record with me.
I was totally uninterested in "Honey" or the Butterfly album. Apparently the divorce caused the quality of her music to nosedive.
However, I am still interested in buying that 2-disc Greatest Hits set. I'm just never interested in hearing her music enough to pay for a double album.
I have no idea which option to vote for. "We Belong Together" is like a sub-par mid '90's single, but her other three singles this year, including the new one, pretty much blow.

I picked "Hell no" because this is her track record since I began listening to the radio:
A through D range Forever One Sweet Day We Belong Together When You Believe
F range Always Be My Baby Boy Butterfly Crybaby Don't Forget About Us Fantasy Heartbreaker Honey I Still Believe It's Like That Last Night a DJ Saved My Life Loverboy My All Never too Far Shake It Off Thank God I Found You Through the Rain

While I liked some of her stuff in the 90's, there is exactly one Mariah Carey song left that won't make me spin the dial: "Without You".
So a resounding "Hell No" from me.

Some mix of the last three. I don't really think she's talented, but she has some songs I like, but I'm not a fan either.

Wow, look what happens when this gets dug up after 2 years. I had Music Box. It's sitting in my closet with a stack of other CDs, waiting to be sold one day. Accomplished earlier this year. However, I am still interested in buying that 2-disc Greatest Hits set. I'm just never interested in hearing her music enough to pay for a double album. I burned a copy from my college radio station a few months after I wrote this, which was sufficient until a couple months back, I helped myself to a "too scratched" copy someone was trying to sell and ended up just abandoning. I took it to the back, buffed it, and needless to say, paid $0 for it. I have no idea which option to vote for. "We Belong Together" is like a sub-par mid '90's single, but her other three singles this year, including the new one, pretty much blow. I like all the singles from her last album a little more now, so, noticing I never even voted, I went ahead and clicked "casual fan."

I'm between "casual fan" and "Talented but not my type of music". There are songs I like and many I don't. While I think Mariah's best material is pre-Butterfly (when she began going towards hip-hop), ironically, the songs I like best from her is from the Butterfly era through now.

Casual fan..I liked all of her singles from The Emancipation of Mimi, and there are a couple of other songs here and there that I like, too.
