This is one of my favorite songs.
Being white and a boy I really identify with it. Haha!
James Brown is awesome, but never ever will I see anything as great as this boy named Jonathan in high school who came around and sang to people at lunch. It wasn't good singing, but he took requests and this was the only James Brown he'd sing. It was too funny.

This must be a common mistake. James Brown "Play That Funky Music" has 5000 more plays on Last.FM than Wild Cherry "Play That Funky Music."

This must be a common mistake. James Brown "Play That Funky Music" has 5000 more plays on Last.FM than Wild Cherry "Play That Funky Music." Considering the lyrics of Wild Cherry's signature song, which frontman Rob Parissi wrote, there's no way in hell James Brown (or any black artist) would've ever recorded a version of this song. That 5000 more plays for that song are credited to James Brown on Last.fm is so dead wrong it's just sad.

Wow. I noticed a few weeks back that PTFM was like the 47th most listened to James Brown song on Last.fm, but I didn't bother to look up the Wild Cherry stats. That is truly a black mark upon the e-generation.
I mean, if James Brown's death didn't dispel this disinformation, nothing will. Did everyone not notice during the reports/tributes/stories after he passed, that of all the songs featured in them, PTFM wasn't one of them? Not that there are any kids out there that give a s*** about any type of history.
Those kids will all grow up to be radio DJ's.
