I've been going through all my CD's and singles for burning to my hard drive, when I came across the "Still Waiting" single and realized the reason why I bought it to begin with. Because it had the video too!
Deryck: So, have you heard the new album? Suit for Island Records: No, I haven't heard the new album. I'm sure it's great, though; all sorts of songs about skateboarding, and being dumped...
...Among countless other quotes worth repeating, except that I'd get carried away and probably end up paraphrasing that entire sequence and effectively ruining it because it's so much better with the audio and video performances than to just have the words on the screen.

I remember liking it, but don't remember much of how it goes.

So I'm uploading the video to the ftp site. I seriously did not even like the song until watching the video, and we're talking several months after its national chart life. And the song portion of the video isn't even the good part.

That's the one video I'll forever have attached to my MySpace page. I still need to make "last year's" all-time favorite music videos list, but that's probably, like #2, and solely for the intro. Seriously. I watch the intro from time to time, but usually stop it before the song even starts.
The song is rad on its own, but the video is actually what probably keeps this as my favorite Sum 41 song as opposed to "Pieces." Steve has extolled its virtues enough, but I can't resist another quote or two:
First off, the self-satisfied look on the suit's face immediately after suggesting the new band name is priceless. And then he repeats it and starts nodding, non-verbally hoping to convince the band of the brilliance of the new name.
"See, today's bands are all about drinkin' yur beer and smok--do you guys smoke?" "No." "Yeah? You do now! [tosses cigarette pack into Steve's lap] You like that? Smoke 'em up, Johnny! [immediately points to Deryck] What's your name?" "Deryck." "Not anymore it isn't. It's Sven." "Sven?" "You like it? It's great!" [Steve]: I don't kno-- "It's great..."
Goddamn, this still makes me laugh out loud, even just typing some of it up.

This peaked at #11 on my chart for two weeks. 4 1/2 years later, that kinda pisses me off.
The video was a funny Strokes parody even without the Island Records intro.

Touché! [/Lionel Osborne from "Perspectives"] I don't even remember that specific line, but those sketches were amazing. It was supposed to be an African-American empowering show, but Lionel (Tim Meadows) would always give those upbeat, courtesy replies like he wasn't even listening. Anyway, this peaked at #11 and spent 16 weeks on my own chart. Two weeks at #11? Show me up, will ya Matt! (I did, however, credit the song each week to "Sum 41 (The Sums)," so there.)
