The third single from Pop and an overlooked gem from U2. It was blasphemy of them/the record label to not only put vastly inferior re-recordings of "Discotheque" and "Staring at the Sun" (which was just fine as the album version & radio edit) on the 90's best-of, but to also forget this song altogether. It sounds like a hit to me.
I kind of don't get why Pop is so commonly regarded as U2's worst album. To me, it doesn't sound all too different from Achtung, Baby, which also had elements of electroic music mixed with rock, and it's 10x more accessible than Zooropa (although I liked that one, too). IMO, "Miami" is the only misstep on the entire album.

Ahh...yes. Summer '97. The first memory that comes to mind is exercising every night, watching MTV's "Adult Videos," (I doubt any of them would even warrant a TV-14, though I may be forgetting any "racier" ones. I remember my brother would always be getting home from his job at the grocery store around this time. It was the summer I learned to drive. The summer of generic "alt-rock" overkill, where I'd finally had enough. New bands were springing up everywhere. And this was a full year until Korn broke through.
Anyway, yeah, this is a forgotten U2 tune.
