Eh, I like all of their songs I've heard too much to pick just one song. Anyway, I don't know why I'm listening to so much gothic stuff lately, but it's appealing to my ears I know. I love Eldrich's ultra-deep vocals and the songs are interesting when they're long, like in "This Corrosion" and "More". The latter had to be cut in half for radio since the album version was like 8 minutes.
Even the early stuff was great. The melody of "Marian" is always sticking to my head, as well as hearing that Nouvelle Vague version. I love the acoustic guitars on it as well, which VAST kind of retooled for the beginning of "The Last One Alive". "Walk Away" is also a structurally memorable song even if it's before they made more lengthy and detailed songs.
I was kind of shocked when I heard about a reforming since it's been like 15-16 years since a studio album from them & they never really had a consistent lineup.

Considering what alternative radio was back when "More" was released and went to #1, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of stations played all 8 minutes.
Also, if the billboard chart for modern rock was around in 1987, This Corrosion would have been huge on it.
I keep thinking of what alternative would look like pre 1988, and for most of 1988 which didn't have a chart. I think Sisters Of Mercy would have been one of the bands that would have had a lot of success on it considering that they did have a #1 single on the next album (More).
