Do you think people perceive you online the same as they do offline? I think there is a big discrepancy and I kind of hate it. I have had a handful of people that I have either met or spoken to on the phone from online message boards and they are always shocked at how my voice sounds and the fact that I am really giggly. (and my voice is very feminine) They all say they expect me to be morose or really professional sounding or morbid. I dont know why. Seriously, Im smiling as I type this post Do you think people perceive you the same as they do offline? Or do you not care? I do not care really, but sometimes people take me so seriously when Im not an intensely serious person in real life. I hate when people get mad at me when Im trying to joke around or say something lightly!

I try to see how I come across online and it always does seem much different from reality. I think I try to over compensate and make my online persona seem more like me and in the end I keep over explaining things and so on.
Although I don't really know completely how people would perceive me as a person, it probably does vary a good bit from real life.
Edit: Another thing, I think I often think of people much different than they are. For almost my entire pulse tenure (on both user names) I would have sworn up and down that minniable was a girl. I'm still rather surprised and think people are kidding me when they say its a guy. I tend to do that a lot though.

I dunno, I'd like to think I'm about the same here as in real life.

I probably sound more serious online, but otherwise I don't see how it would be too different.

Do you really not believe me, or do you just want me to post a clip so you can make fun of my voice

Do you really not believe me, or do you just want me to post a clip so you can make fun of my voice I wouldn't make fun of it! I'm just curious to hear it, that's all. I've already heard Ethan's, Nick's, Steve's, Sunny's, Jay's, Mike's, and Davey's.

I neither curse nor use instant voice messaging.

I've only tried voice messaging on Yahoo!; didn't work too well but this is back in the dial-up era. I just figured, I've got my AIM, and I've got my phone, and they have two separate purposes.

I used to be more shy offline than online, but lately it's actually been the other way around LOL
