CHR/Top 40 (or, for Steve, CHR/Pop): Lips Of An Angel, Hinder: D Far Away, Nickelback: C My Love, Justin Timberlake f/T.I.: B- Too Little Too Late, Jojo: C+ How To Save A Life, The Fray: B+ (I'm such a sucker. I was indifferent to this for the longest time, but started liking it a lot once my Pop station started playing it.) Sexyback, Justin Timberlake: C Money Maker, Ludacris f/Pharrell: A- Gallery, Mario Vazquez: B Call Me When You're Sober, Evanescence: A- Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol: A Smack That, Akon f/Eminem: B- Show Stopper, Danity Kane: D- (The only real reason it isn't an F is because I haven't heard it that much. And judging from WABB's spins of this, I'm lucky.) Fergalicious, Fergie: B Buttons, The Pussycat Dolls f/Snoop Dogg: C+ Hurt, Christina Aguilera: C- (All I can muster up as a reaction is a *yawn* of mediocrity.) Get Up, Ciara f/Chamillionaire: C I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At The Disco: A- Say Goodbye, Chris Brown: C London Bridge, Fergie: F Promiscuous, Nelly Furtado f/Timbaland: B- Hate Me, Blue October: B U And Dat, E-40 f/T-Pain & Kandi Girl: C About Us, Brooke Hogan f/Paul Wall: C- What Hurts The Most, Rascal Flatts: B- Come To Me, Diddy f/Nicole Scherzinger: not familiar enough Waiting On The World To Change, John Mayer: C+ Wind It Up, Gwen Stefani: D- (Just give it some time.) Come Back To Me, Vanessa Hudgens: nh (...or at least I don't think I have) Tu Amor, RBD: nfe (But I heard it in part once today, and I can guarantee you it won't wind up better than a C.) It Ends Tonight, The All-American Rejects: C Walk Away (Remember Me), Paula Deanda f/The Dey: nh (see Vanessa Hudgens) When You Were Young, The Killers: B Sexy Love, Ne-Yo: B- Wait A Minute, The Pussycat Dolls f/Timbaland: C+ Irreplaceable, Beyonce: B I Wanna Love You, Akon f/Snoop Dogg: C+ (As some of you may have surmised, the original title of this is "I Wanna Fuck You". Of course that wouldn't work on radio; even censoring "f***" puts too many gaps in the chorus. But "love" in place of "f***" is a bit... unrealistic, I'd say. I would have gone with "I Wanna Cuff You". It's still clean but suggestive, and as an added bonus, all that would require is a simple backward masking of "f***".) That Girl, Frankie J f/Mannie Fresh & Chamillionaire: nfe The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage, Panic! At The Disco: A- (So, what's the next format this will pop up at out of nowhere? My guess is Hot AC in September 2007.) Pullin' Me Back, Chingy f/Tyrese: D Break It Off, Rihanna f/Sean Paul: nh
Alternative Welcome To The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance: B (Despite being underwhelmed by this at first, it has started to grow on me; I bought the album for $8.99 at Best Buy.) Through Glass, Stone Sour: A Anna-Molly, Incubus: A- The Diary Of Jane, Breaking Benjamin: A- The Pot, Tool: B+ Tell Me Baby, Red Hot Chili Peppers: B+ Animal I Have Become, Three Days Grace: B (This should have been recurrent like 10 weeks ago.) Face Down, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: B Love Like Winter, AFI: B+ The Kill (Bury Me), 30 Seconds To Mars: A- To Be Loved, Papa Roach: B Level, The Raconteurs: C- Here It Goes Again, OK Go: A- Hole In The Earth, Deftones: B- Land Of Confusion, Disturbed: A- Nausea, Beck: nfe When Your Heart Stops Beating, (+44): B- (so far) Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Jet: C+ Into The Ocean, Blue October: B- Snow (Hey Oh), Red Hot Chili Peppers: nfe From Yesterday, 30 Seconds To Mars: nfe Hate (I Really Don't Like You), Plain White T's: C The Saints Are Coming, U2 & Green Day: B (only from their live performance. How is this getting so much longevity on radio, anyway?) Gone Daddy Gone, Gnarls Barkley: C+ The War, Angels And Airwaves: nfe Starlight, Muse: nfe Alive With The Glory Of Love, Say Anything: B- Liar (It Takes One To Know One), Taking Back Sunday: C+ Pain, Three Days Grace: C- Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off, Panic! At The Disco: B No Control, Pepper: nh Goodbye, Army Of Anyone: B Le Disko, Shiny Toy Guns: nfe Revelations, Audioslave: nfe Joker And The Thief, Wolfmother: nfe Tears Don't Fall, Bullet For My Valentine: nfe

High School Never Ends, Bowling For Soup: D (impressive on only one listen -- i.e., the grade can only drop with further exposure.) It's been quite some time since the last one!
CHR/Top 40: Lips Of An Angel, Hinder: F Far Away, Nickelback: B- My Love, Justin Timberlake f/T.I.: B+ Too Little Too Late, Jojo: nfe How To Save A Life, The Fray: A- Sexyback, Justin Timberlake: A- Money Maker, Ludacris f/Pharrell: B+ Gallery, Mario Vazquez: C Call Me When You're Sober, Evanescence: A- Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol: B+ Smack That, Akon f/Eminem: nh Show Stopper, Danity Kane: nh (I have no desire to hear this.) Fergalicious, Fergie: D (So far.) Buttons, The Pussycat Dolls f/Snoop Dogg: C+ (You mean this is still on the chart? Wow!) Hurt, Christina Aguilera: C+ Get Up, Ciara f/Chamillionaire: C+ I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At The Disco: A- Say Goodbye, Chris Brown: C London Bridge, Fergie: F Promiscuous, Nelly Furtado f/Timbaland: B- Hate Me, Blue October: B U And Dat, E-40 f/T-Pain & Kandi Girl: D About Us, Brooke Hogan f/Paul Wall: C- What Hurts The Most, Rascal Flatts: nh Come To Me, Diddy f/Nicole Scherzinger: nh Waiting On The World To Change, John Mayer: B Wind It Up, Gwen Stefani: nh (I am scared to listen to it, though.) Come Back To Me, Vanessa Hudgens: nh Tu Amor, RBD: nh It Ends Tonight, The All-American Rejects: B- Walk Away (Remember Me), Paula Deanda f/The Dey: nh When You Were Young, The Killers: C- Sexy Love, Ne-Yo: nh Wait A Minute, The Pussycat Dolls f/Timbaland: nh Irreplaceable, Beyonce: nh I Wanna Love You, Akon f/Snoop Dogg: nfe That Girl, Frankie J f/Mannie Fresh & Chamillionaire: nfe The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage, Panic! At The Disco: A- (So, what's the next format this will pop up at out of nowhere? My guess is Hot AC in September 2007.) Pullin' Me Back, Chingy f/Tyrese: F Break It Off, Rihanna f/Sean Paul: nh
Alternative Welcome To The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance: A- (I haven't got around to buying it yet, but likely will. I really like the band's "current image." The music video, from what I saw, reminded me of the Mellon Collie-era Smashing Pumpkins music videos. I might enjoy this more than the last one.) Through Glass, Stone Sour: B Anna-Molly, Incubus: nfe The Diary Of Jane, Breaking Benjamin: nh The Pot, Tool: B+ Tell Me Baby, Red Hot Chili Peppers: A Animal I Have Become, Three Days Grace: B Face Down, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: C Love Like Winter, AFI: A+ The Kill (Bury Me), 30 Seconds To Mars: B- To Be Loved, Papa Roach: B Level, The Raconteurs: B Here It Goes Again, OK Go: A- Hole In The Earth, Deftones: nh Land Of Confusion, Disturbed: B+ Nausea, Beck: A- (haha... the song I'm probably most familiar with on the whole thing. I'm not good with the titles on the new album, but there's this one chill-type song that's my favorite of the ones I've heard from the album.) When Your Heart Stops Beating, (+44): nh Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Jet: C Into The Ocean, Blue October: B+ Snow (Hey Oh), Red Hot Chili Peppers: A- From Yesterday, 30 Seconds To Mars: nh Hate (I Really Don't Like You), Plain White T's: C The Saints Are Coming, U2 & Green Day: n/a Gone Daddy Gone, Gnarls Barkley: A The War, Angels And Airwaves: nfe Starlight, Muse: A Alive With The Glory Of Love, Say Anything: B (although the somewhat novelty band name & album title kept telling me, "stay away.") Liar (It Takes One To Know One), Taking Back Sunday: B+ Pain, Three Days Grace: nh Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off, Panic! At The Disco: B No Control, Pepper: nh Goodbye, Army Of Anyone: B- Le Disko, Shiny Toy Guns: nh Revelations, Audioslave: nfe Joker And The Thief, Wolfmother: B (So far.) Tears Don't Fall, Bullet For My Valentine: nh
Active Rock Heroes, Shinedown: C+ Rockstar, Nickelback: C+ Shine Down, Godsmack: B- Fully Alive, Flyleaf: B Falls Apart, Hurt: nh Seize The Day, Avenged Sevenfold: B+ Next 2 You, Buckcherry: C- How Long, Hinder: nh (but I don't want to hear it.) Politics, Korn: A (Why wasn't this released earlier? It's better than the other singles from this album and just as moving) Ladies And Gentlemen, Saliva: nh Drown You Out, Crossfade: nh The Enemy, Godsmack: nh Devil's Got A New Disguise, Aerosmith: nh Born To Lead, Hoobastank: nh Taking Back Control, Sparta: nh Original Fire, Audioslave: A- Let It All Bleed Out, Rob Zombie: nh Whispers In The Dark, Skillet: nh Hell And High Water, Black Stone Cherry: nh Simple Survival, Mushroomhead: nh My Curse, Killswitch Engage: nh
Hot AC Streetcorner Symphony, Rob Thomas: nfe Suddenly I See, KT Tunstall: B Move Along, The All-American Rejects: A- Over My Head (Cable Car), The Fray: A Nothing Left To Lose, Mat Kearney: B- Crazy, Gnarls Barkley: A+ Boston, Augustana: B- The Riddle, Five For Fighting: C Let Love In, Goo Goo Dolls: B- Goodbye My Lover, James Blunt: nfe Put Your Records On, Corinne Bailey Rae: A- (but the follow-up, "Trouble Sleeping," is much better and arguably more radio-friendly.) Can't Let Go, Landon Pigg: nh Steady, As She Goes, The Raconteurs: A- (Believe it or not, I haven't gotten around to buying the album. I think it's because time, and I'm not really expecting to be wowed like I was with the White Stripes stuff.) Heard The World, O.A.R.: nh So Insane, Smash Mouth: nh (but it's only on the Hot AC format. No one else cares.) High School Never Ends, Bowling For Soup: C I Can't Hate You Anymore, Nick Lachey: nfe Mandolin Moon, Sister Hazel: D Not Ready To Make Nice, Dixie Chicks: B Love You Lately, Daniel Powter: nh When The Stars Go Blue, Tim McGraw: C- (What's up with re-making this song?)
Triple A I Will Follow You Into The Dark, Death Cab For Cutie: B+ Someday Baby, Bob Dylan: nh Ride The River, J.J. CHR/Top 40Lips Of An Angel, Hinder: DFar Away, Nickelback: C+ (At this point. I know this and JoJo got payolaed as high as they did (for a fact), yet I still have not actually listened to either one of them very much.)My Love, Justin Timberlake f/T.I.: A-Too Little Too Late, Jojo: CHow To Save A Life, The Fray: B+ (I instantly took to this way more than I ever did for "Cable Car," for whatever reason.)Sexyback, Justin Timberlake: A-Money Maker, Ludacris f/Pharrell: C (I don't understand why this and "Stand Up" have been his two biggest crossover hits. I like this more than "Stand Up" probably because it's a Pharrell joint and that intro is just a monster.)Gallery, Mario Vazquez: C (For as long as it's been around, I'm really not all that familiar with this song...probably less so than JoJo & "Far Away".)Call Me When You're Sober, Evanescence: A- (Though, still, this is probably worse than every single track off of Fallen.)Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol: B+ (Not quite as good as "How to Save a Life," but getting close.)Smack That, Akon f/Eminem: F (Fuuuck thiiis.)Show Stopper, Danity Kane: B (The only real reason this isn't a D+ for me is aside from the interchangeable bimbos and Yung Joc, this track has a real menace to it that I enjoy.)Fergalicious, Fergie: F (See "Smack That.")Buttons, The Pussycat Dolls f/Snoop Dogg: C- (Still, aside from the fact that it was payolaed to #1 and that the song invites sexual assault, this is by far the best PCD single so far because the track just has so much thump.)Hurt, Christina Aguilera: C+ (Though, I remember it quite well, I've only heard it, like, 3 or 4 times so far, and not recently, so I almost feel as if I haven't heard it enough.)Get Up, Ciara f/Chamillionaire: C- (Why must this be just as dull as "So What" from earlier this year? Her new single better be a hell of a lot better and up to par with the two fantastic singles off her first record.)I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At The Disco: A- (Though I swear my pop station doesn't play new music: just this, Hinder, "SexyBack," Ludacris, and Snow Patrol. It makes me want to shoot out their goddamn tower.)Say Goodbye, Chris Brown: nfe London Bridge, Fergie: FPromiscuous, Nelly Furtado f/Timbaland: B (Though it's getting more overrated the more I hear it. I'm glad "Maneater" bombed, though I only got to hear it 3 times.)Hate Me, Blue October: BU And Dat, E-40 f/T-Pain & Kandi Girl: F (See "Smack That" and "Fergalicious.")About Us, Brooke Hogan f/Paul Wall: C-What Hurts The Most, Rascal Flatts: nfe Come To Me, Diddy f/Nicole Scherzinger: nfe Waiting On The World To Change, John Mayer: BWind It Up, Gwen Stefani: nfe (Only heard it once and I immediately hated the yodel, but by the end of the track, I remember, if not liking it, willing to give it a fair shot, still.)Come Back To Me, Vanessa Hudgens: nfe (Oh joy. I find out that the reason this no name hack is getting a relatively easy ride is because shes, *gasp,* the star of High School Musical! Yay!!! (where's the barf emoticon when I need it?)Tu Amor, RBD: n/a (What the f*** is this.)It Ends Tonight, The All-American Rejects: n/a Walk Away (Remember Me), Paula Deanda f/The Dey: n/a When You Were Young, The Killers: ASexy Love, Ne-Yo: BWait A Minute, The Pussycat Dolls f/Timbaland: n/a (Are you kidding me?)Irreplaceable, Beyonce: nfe I Wanna Love You, Akon f/Snoop Dogg: F (God, each Akon single (not counting the 5th one off his first album which I never heard) gets worse than the one before it. I heard this once. I saw the album the other day when someone sold us back a promo copy of it and, despite my suspicions, it said "love" on the back, inside the booklet, and in the lyrics. Whether or not he pulls a "Stay High" like Triple 6 did remains to be seen, but he may, in fact, not. What he may do is release the "f*ck" version on like a vinyl single for the clubs.)That Girl, Frankie J f/Mannie Fresh & Chamillionaire: D+The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage, Panic! At The Disco: A-Pullin' Me Back, Chingy f/Tyrese: C-Break It Off, Rihanna f/Sean Paul: n/a (But "We Ride" bombed before I ever even got to hear it.)AlternativeWelcome To The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance: AThrough Glass, Stone Sour: BAnna-Molly, Incubus: nfe (I've heard this once so far, KPNT plays so little new music now. It just beats us over the head with "a lot more songs (we've already heard to death when they were out)...a lot less often." And sometimes not even that. I'm gonna have to email them to tell them what older songs to take out of rotation.)The Diary Of Jane, Breaking Benjamin: B-The Pot, Tool: A-Tell Me Baby, Red Hot Chili Peppers: A-Animal I Have Become, Three Days Grace: B- ("This should have been recurrent like 10 weeks ago" No kidding.)Face Down, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: B-Love Like Winter, AFI: A+The Kill (Bury Me), 30 Seconds To Mars: A+To Be Loved, Papa Roach: B (Hate to say it, but their new record doesn't live up (and certainly not this) to the apparent career zenith their last record was.)Level, The Raconteurs: nfe (Heard this once on KPNT, like a month & a half ago, and instead of being annoyed or indifferent toward it, I was refreshed by how original it seemed.)Here It Goes Again, OK Go: B- (I don't think I've heard this enough times on the radio yet to not automatically think of the video every time this song is mentioned.)Hole In The Earth, Deftones: A-Land Of Confusion, Disturbed: B (This sure has worn out its welcome)Nausea, Beck: B-When Your Heart Stops Beating, (+44): B+ (so far)Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Jet: C+Into The Ocean, Blue October: nfe (The only time I've heard it is when I sought it out on their MySpace early last month.)Snow (Hey Oh), Red Hot Chili Peppers: A-From Yesterday, 30 Seconds To Mars: B+Hate (I Really Don't Like You), Plain White T's: B- (It's such a simple song, but it's so damn catchy that that only makes it worse for me to grade it this high.)The Saints Are Coming, U2 & Green Day: nfe Gone Daddy Gone, Gnarls Barkley: BThe War, Angels And Airwaves: nfe Starlight, Muse: B+ (but I haven't heard it since it's been released)Alive With The Glory Of Love, Say Anything: nfe (See "Into the Ocean")Liar (It Takes One To Know One), Taking Back Sunday: nfe Pain, Three Days Grace: nfe Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off, Panic! At The Disco: nfe (I can't remember which song this is offhand)No Control, Pepper: nfe (The only time I heard it was when they happened to be on "Loveline".)Goodbye, Army Of Anyone: B-Le Disko, Shiny Toy Guns: nfe Revelations, Audioslave: n/a Joker And The Thief, Wolfmother: nfe Tears Don't Fall, Bullet For My Valentine: B (But I've only heard this song a sporadic 5 times, or so...most recently, probably two months ago.)Active RockHeroes, Shinedown: D+Rockstar, Nickelback: C+Shine Down, Godsmack: CFully Alive, Flyleaf: C+Falls Apart, Hurt: nfe (but C range)Seize The Day, Avenged Sevenfold: A+Next 2 You, Buckcherry: DHow Long, Hinder: n/a Politics, Korn: B (But I've not heard this since I last listened to their album, which was like, I dunno, spring or summer?)Ladies And Gentlemen, Saliva: n/a Drown You Out, Crossfade: n/a The Enemy, Godsmack: n/a Devil's Got A New Disguise, Aerosmith: n/a Born To Lead, Hoobastank: n/a Taking Back Control, Sparta: nfe (but it was a surprisingly favorable impression)Original Fire, Audioslave: BLet It All Bleed Out, Rob Zombie: n/a Whispers In The Dark, Skillet: n/a (But every time I read this title, it reminds me of They Might Be Giants' whimsical "Whistling in the Dark." Hell And High Water, Black Stone Cherry: nfe (The only reason it's not an "n/a" is because I know they played it at the Black Label Society show.)Simple Survival, Mushroomhead: n/a My Curse, Killswitch Engage: n/a Hot ACStreetcorner Symphony, Rob Thomas: n/a (But...is this on his solo album, or what's the story on this. I find it hard to believe that a 4th single released a year after the 3rd would just fly up the chart like this.)Suddenly I See, KT Tunstall: nfe (See "Hell and High Water")Move Along, The All-American Rejects: A-Over My Head (Cable Car), The Fray: BNothing Left To Lose, Mat Kearney: n/a Crazy, Gnarls Barkley: B+Boston, Augustana: C+The Riddle, Five For Fighting: nfe Let Love In, Goo Goo Dolls: n/a Goodbye My Lover, James Blunt: n/a Put Your Records On, Corinne Bailey Rae: nfe Can't Let Go, Landon Pigg: n/a Steady, As She Goes, The Raconteurs: BHeard The World, O.A.R.: n/a So Insane, Smash Mouth: n/a ("but it's so insane that Smash Mouth keep getting hits." CHR/Pop (or for Steve: "CHR/Top 50" ) HINDER Lips Of An Angel: F (admittedly, it's got a face value of about a D, and I usually frown upon taking overplay out on the song itself, but I'm doing it here because I can and they're a bunch of d-bags. The majority of your witty comments totally nail it, Steve. With Diddy, you're remembering "Come with Me," the Zeppelin-biting (with Jimmy Page approval! ) track from the Godzilla movie. "Irreplaceable" is indeed the "to the left" song you're thinking of. Re: Cartel: Their singer has been brought up to speed about the whole "looking-like-Aaron-Carter" thing that the whole nation seems to agree on (odd), and it's got him so self-conscious about appearing alphabetically in the racks right before Aaron that he's started letting his brown roots grow out. Incidentally, I'd have no idea who Sandi Thom is, either, except this afternoon I just happened to be putting the used copy we have of her record off the "just-in" display and in the alphabet with the new copy. She appears to be another Avril knock-off, yet, (and I coud be wrong) she may have more grit to her music.

CHR/Pop top 50 (or, for Steve, CHR/Pop Hey, it's not just him ya know. )Lips Of An Angel, Hinder: C- (I'm trying to avoid hearing this again at all costs, because I fear the grade might continue to rise if I do.)Far Away, Nickelback: B-My Love, Justin Timberlake f/T.I.: CToo Little Too Late, Jojo: B+How To Save A Life, The Fray: ASexyback, Justin Timberlake: D+ (but I'll take it over some of the singles from the last album.)Money Maker, Ludacris f/Pharrell: C-Gallery, Mario Vazquez: C (finally, this loses the bullet. I swear, I was hearing this on the radio back in May.Call Me When You're Sober, Evanescence: A- (but what Nick said)Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol: A Smack That, Akon f/Eminem: D (I guess when you have 2 songs in a row on the Pop chart in the A range, it's inevitable that the next one will suck.) Show Stopper, Danity Kane: D-Fergalicious, Fergie: F (okay, fine, n/a.) Buttons, The Pussycat Dolls f/Snoop Dogg: C- (The beat is what's keeping this from being an F. The Dolls themselves have nothing to do with it.) Hurt, Christina Aguilera: B-Get Up, Ciara f/Chamillionaire: n/aI Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At The Disco: C+Say Goodbye, Chris Brown: CLondon Bridge, Fergie: D- Promiscuous, Nelly Furtado f/Timbaland: F Hate Me, Blue October: B (but see my post in the "Into The Ocean" topic in Alternative.)U And Dat, E-40 f/T-Pain & Kandi Girl: F About Us, Brooke Hogan f/Paul Wall: n/aWhat Hurts The Most, Rascal Flatts: A- Come To Me, Diddy f/Nicole Scherzinger: n/aWaiting On The World To Change, John Mayer: B-Wind It Up, Gwen Stefani: D- (please go back where you came from. Uhhhh....isn't this a little too electronic and up-tempo for AC radio? That's what I thought at first, but then it's really not all that different from some of her 80s songs that still get a fair amount of AC airplay.)Just In Time, Tony Bennett & Michael Buble: n/aSay Goodbye, Jordan Knight & Deborah Gibson: n/aHideaway (When It Snows), Jim Brickman f/Geoff Byrd: n/a

Unwritten, Natasha Bedingfield: BBad Day, Daniel Powter: A- (it's been 3 months since we've done one a report card topic, yet the top 2 haven't changed at all in the meantime.)
Actually, "What Hurts the Most" is #1 on AC. But since it's (still) on the Pop chart, it was listed there and not on the AC list. But as recently as last week, "Unwritten" was #1 and "Bad Day" #2. You And Me, Lifehouse: A- (I stopped keeping track of WOC after the R&R-Billboard merge, but how the hell has this not reached 50 weeks yet.)
It's at 72 weeks; however, its 10-9 jump ensured its presence on the chart this week under the 10/50 rule.
