Nick's Notes:
Well, sorry "Vicarious," but "Beast and the Harlot" has got you pretty whipped. Not only that, but "The Kill" is finding sturdy legs and has made a charge for #1. I actually had to listen to the three top songs this week to see which would come in where. The entire bridge of "The Kill," all the tension and release, can still make the hairs on my body stand up. "Vicarious" might still be able to grab #1, though, since I just officially ranked the album a day after I made this chart. I wanna say it's still possible for "Dani California" to break the Top 5, but with those songs up there, it's gonna be really difficult.
Except for the switches at 2 & 3 and at 12 & 13, the entire Top 20 holds steady this week. And the latter switch was only because I saw HIM last weekend, which explains all the rest of their songs suddenly appearing, including "Vampire Heart" blasting back aboard at #28. I still manage to hear "Not Now" at least once or twice on KNSX every week.
I listened to Atreyu's new record in the car this weekend, not that you can tell much. "What You Know" backward bullets, as Vicky and I listened to it twice in the car. I'm starting to catch "Fall Into Sleep" fairly regularly now, so it's all of a sudden doing okay again. I've only heard it a handful of times so far, but I'm really enjoying "The Adventure." I heard part of "Get Together" in The Gap (Vicky's fruitless browse, to explain), so, that being probably the only time I'll hear it in a public setting, it re-enters my chart, if only for this week.
"Talk" unexpecedly drops off, but I didn't hear it last week. MCR's Top 40 reign is at long last over with the Three Cheers album, making it go a few months shy of 2 years. I heard "Welcome Home" on the radio twice in the past week, the first two times since not getting to hear it live, so the song rebounds and resets its peak. Good for C&C.
"I Write Sins" has a strong backward bullet. Tool lands my favorite track(s) on the new album onto the contender list. I'm sure that can make some Top 40 noise shortly. It's criminal that Thursday's new single, their best so far, is being ignored nationally. What the deal. I don't love it like everyone else does, for some reason, but "Crazy" finds its way aboard. May or may not make the Top 40. Thanks for reading this week.
