"Lost Realist" leaps into the top 5 to become Trapt's fourth top-5 hit, and it's now their biggest hit. Tough luck for "Waiting" on two counts: (1) if album tracks weren't eligible to chart this year, it'd be #3 (which trumps their two #4 hits, "Still Frame" and "Echo"); (2) it gets jumped by another Trapt song, denying it the title of biggest hit for even one week.
P.O.D. is coming on strong now. It looked dead 3 weeks ago, unbulleted at #38 for the 2nd straight week. But now, this will likely become the 2nd top-10 hit for P.O.D., and might top the #8 peak of "Youth of the Nation".
The logjam in the middle of the chart is starting to clear out. Winners: bands with compound words for names (Yellowcard and Morningwood). Losers: bands with one-syllable names (Thrice and Korn). Undetermined: bands whose names end in an "-oo" sound (Matisyahu and U2). Taking overdue big falls: bands whose names end in a soft "s" sound (Gorillaz and 10 Years).
It's a weak week for debuts. I don't think any of them will make the top 50.
This surprised even myself when I realized it, but this is Switchfoot's 9th top 50 hit. Here's how: On The Beautiful Letdown, they had three singles that were released to Christian radio only ("More Than Fine", "Gone", and "Ammunition") in addition to their three mainstream singles ("Meant to Live", "Dare You to Move", and "This Is Your Life"). Nothing Is Sound had the first single "Stars", and an album track (since those can chart now) that made the top 50 ("Lonely Nation", which peaked at #42). "We Are One Tonight" is their 9th hit, and I think it could become their third-biggest; "MTL" and "DYTM" both hit #1, and "Stars" sneaked into the top 10 late last year.
