I don't suppose anyone else has any personal charts for this very last week of the '05, but here's mine:

Nick's Notes: "Bat Country" closes out 2005 with 21 weeks at #1, with no competition in sight for 2006.
"Stricken" and "Not Now" are in for a rude awakening if they think they can keep this pace up.
311 songs get boosted because I listened to the record again the other day.
And that's about it for 2005. Thanks for reading Nick's Top 40 this year and I'll be right back next week to start off 2006.

Falling Off: -- 40 The Fray - Over My Head 4 34
And that's it for 2005. This'll actually be the 53rd chart in the books for the year, which made me a little uncomfortable since it does conceivably give an unfair advantage to certain songs, but not much. And since I don't skip charts, there's no way to remedy it without merely passing the buck to a different year since it's an unavoidable situation.
Anyway, Coldplay finishes the year with their fifth #1 song spending an unprecedented fifth week at the top. Pretty ironic to think that despite hitting #1 four other times, they never managed to get more than three weeks with any of them. I don't know why, but "Talk" just seems to have "it," which isn't to say their other #1's didn't, but combined with the fact that there wasn't a powerhouse knocking on the door two or three weeks ago, and here they are still. That could change though with "Jesus of Suburbia" propelling up to #2. I got to catch the video for it twice at my mom's house on Fuse (more on that below). This is setting up to be one of the bigger monster battles for #1 next week, but they always wind up feeling somewhat underwhelming when they happen, partly because there's no real way to measure it other than who wins.
Hawthorne Heights has been a great story for 2005, and they narrowly missed their second top 5 this week. They should have a good shot at it, and they could potentially wind up with a big year next year given whatever their new album delivers. "Lights and Sounds" is hitting its stride. "Hypnotize" is unfortunately stalling, but only because it hasn't been up to par with "B.Y.O.B." or "Question."
I think with all the hoopla over Green Day and the Killers dominating 2005, what's lost in the shuffle is the fact that My Chemical Romance (along with the other two) managed to run the table this year a feat not easily accomplished on this chart, although seemingly easier this year. If I'm not mistaken, this week marks their 66th straight week on with at least one song (GD is at 72 and the Killers at 89).
I spent 8 days in New York (well New Jersey, really) at my mom's house for Christmas. I didn't listen to the radio much, mostly because I hate what K-Rock has turned into. But I did get to watch Fuse a lot and listen to the radio channels on her digital cable system (my stepmother doesn't believe in digital cable). That allowed me to hear the AFI and 30STM songs, as well as: "Bom Bom Bom" by the Living Things, "I Caught Fire" by The Used, and a few other songs I wouldn't hear otherwise, as well as boosting songs that could've suffered a letdown this week.
Finally, this week, the following songs need to get in gear next year, or get off immediately: "Breathe Me," "King Without A Crown," "These Things," "Move," "Hung Up," "Cash Machine," and "No Way Back."
Tomorrow, we start the Great Musical Skadaddle of 2005!

The All-American Rejects complete their never-saw-it-coming run to the top, knocking out Fall Out Boy after 4 weeks. There really isn't much competition out there right now, but even if there was, "Move Along" would likely be strong enough to hold it off for 4-6 weeks.
The Goo Goo Dolls have slowed down considerably, and may miss the top 5. Trapt's "Waiting" is the first album track to enter the top 10, although "Painless" and "Welcome Home" would have done so had I charted album tracks 2-3 months ago.
The bottom half of the top 20 is relatively weak (Depeche Mode, Weezer, and Ringside will all likely see the boot from that area of the chart next week), allowing Alanis Morissette to make it up to #12. It's already her biggest hit on my chart, eclipsing the #19 peak of "Hands Clean", but it doesn't sound like a top 10 hit to me. I'm fairly sure "The Suffering" is now Coheed & Cambria's biggest single to date.
Matisyahu might only see position gains for 1-2 more weeks. Three 6 Mafia and Morningwood are likely headed to the top 20. The new NIN single might eventually be my favorite thus far from the album.
No bonus points for guessing the three CDs I purchased this week: Trapt, Mae, and Flyleaf. (Funny thing: I found out the song I thought was "Disconnected" by Trapt was actually "Skin Deep". It seems fairly obvious if you've heard the song -- the chorus goes "skin deep, skin deep, no one will ever be perfect in your eyes" -- but I guess I didn't take a good enough look at the tracklisting a few weeks ago when I first heard the song.)
