I flew down to Atlanta for the weekend. While I was in town, I was listening to an awesome rhythmic station, The Beat (WBTS) 95.5, and happen to hear this track on the station multiple times. Rapper Lil' Jon who is an Atlanta native produced the new lead single for Baby Bash's third album. www.youtube.com/watch?v=veYbj2zypaMThe song has been "earworm" for me this weekend. This is a clubbanger that makes folks want to hit the dance floor.

superiormusic.proboards58.com/index.cgi?board=4&action=display&thread=1187451072 Oh well, nobody replied there, so I'll reply here. Anyways, this is like the most-played Rhythmic track in both San Diego and LA! Everywhere I went in the last few weeks as well as every pop/rhythmic station I tuned into kept playing this song non-stop! I do like this, at least T-Pain doesn't sound as horrible in this one than than he does in the other million songs he's in! And I still think it's a "Snap Yo Fingers" rip-off.

So sorry to duplicate your topic Sunny, didn't know you created one! It is great to hear the song is getting good play the west side! Yes, "Cyclone" is a blatant "Snap Yo Fingers" ripoff. But I guess it doesn't matter since he is having a hit with it. LOL! It sucks for me that I don't hear it NYC. IMO, The rhythmic and urban stations in NYC can be kind of 'whack' sometimes. The stations here don't get on the "attention grabbing" clubbangers fast enough and instead choose IMO to add a bunch of hiphop songs glorifying some sort of "hustle-in the hood" theme or New York anthem. It is a much uptight vibe on Urban/Rhythmic radio here in NYC. In fact look at NYC's Rhythmic station Hot 97's playlist: www.hot97.com/playlist/They are playing tracks like: #3 - 50 Cent's "I Get Money" #7 - Swizz Beats, "Money In The Bank" #24 - Red Cafe f/ DJ Envy, Redman & Fabolous "Dolla Bill" All of these songs revolve around making some money. Hot 97 definitely has a more underground/hardcore hiphop feel and less appeal to a nightclubber that wants to hear some ultra catchy bangin' tracks!

I saw the video for the first time on MTV this morning (they play music videos?! SHOCKING!) and it looks like T-Pain doesn't even sing the hook of the song, he only sings the bridge. Wtf. Why the hell is he even on the song then!

LOL! It is interesting that you brought up about T-Pain not singing the hook of the track and only the bridge. I would guess that it is a marketing venture - T-Pain has several successful current hits in hiphop thus propelling Baby Bash's "Cyclone" into instant hiphop cred.
Ironically, Baby Bash was on ABC's "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning and performed "Cyclone" without T-Pain of course.
I though it was rather odd yet comical during the performance when Baby Bash and his crew was doing a silly chanting and ad-libbing routine (with the occasional shoutouts by the dj behind him) while the pre-recorded hook was playing in the background. I guess he figured that he'd save face because his singing voice is weak. And we all know that weak vocals can be easily disguised with production efforts ahem J. Lo.
To further add to the eccentricity was a senior lady from the audience joining Baby Bash and his crew on the stage as a dancer. She was apparently dancing in the audience along to the performance of "Cyclone" and showing off some of her moves that she learned from some dance studio that she has been taking classes from. I have to give her credit. She was good! LOL!

Finally heard this just now on AT40. Good god that bites "Snap Yo Fingers" so hard. I mean sure, it's not identical, but the synth used is identical, and there's a part where the notes and rhythm actually are identical, though they're not in quite the same spot of the songs' measures. Nevertheless, if Lil Jon had nothing to do with this track, he should totally sue his ass. I mean you can't tell me that Baby Bash would've written this same track had he never heard "Snap Yo Fingers" before.
In spite of all that, the song's not bad. And he was actually on the show and sounds pretty level-headed. (Obviously, "Snap Yo Fingers" never came up.)

Actually, this song would almost likely have flopped if it were not for just a casual comment by Keri Hilson herself! I read from a very reliable source that this song was already TANKING down the charts when several of the world's biggest news publications asked her what a few of her favorite songs were. Her reply was that "Cyclone" had a nice groove to it! Amazingly, the song started taking off literally HOURS after this statement. The power of Keri!

Good grief, you guys weren't kidding about this being a blatant "Snap Yo Fingers" rip-off. This song's better though, albeit by default more than anything else.

If this is a "Snap Yo Fingers" ripoff, and "Snap Yo Fingers" is 4 minutes of hell, then I won't be touching this with a ten foot pole.

At least you didn't have two people play "Snap Yo Fingers" every chance they could when it was popular.
And if that wasn't bad enough, one of them also had Panic! At The Disco. What an awful year.

The biggest difference between this and "Snap Yo Fingers" is that this actually sounds like a SONG!!!
But I don't even really like this either, but at least it's 100% more listenable than that piece of trash. And I'm wondering if Baby Bash can actually attempt a hit without any guest artists.

So from the AT40 interview, I was under the impression that Baby Bash wrote all his own tracks. I looked inside a used copy of the album the other day to see if Lil Jon was given any credit at all and Jon actually produced the song himself! What the hell! Furthermore, Baby Bash didn't produce any of the songs on the record. Obviously the audio AT40 interview is long gone, but I want to hear it again to understand just how I got the impression that he produces all his own tracks.

What the hell! lol... well the synth made it kinda obvious that it was a Lil Jon production! Yeah, I noticed that it's also credited to him when I was browsing through a Billboard magazine.
