Following songs like "A Bay Bay" that makes you go "WTF is this?!" comes the contender for the next multi-format #1 smash. Currently the biggest gainer in both Rhythmic and Urban. wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/soulcran.wmaWTF is this?!

I can't believe he's got a hit now, and soon to be top 10 at that. I figured it was a fluke that I even discovered "Just Got My Report Card" back in April, especially since the quality of the recording was fairly low (his following was only local/regional back then, so it made sense). (For those who missed when I charted the song at #50 for a week: "JGMRC" is a parody of sorts of Rich Boy's "Throw Some D's", and samples the title line heavily. The chorus goes: "Soulja Boy chillin' dawg/Just got my report card/Looked at it, all F's/Took it to the teacher's desk/'THROW SOME D'S ON THAT BITCH!'" I thought it was quite funny and, as it turns out, it's a lot better than "Crank That".)

I don't understand why so many people like this, especially people who hated songs like "A Bay Bay". I don't even find this that catchy.

I don't understand why so many people like this, especially people who hated songs like "A Bay Bay". I don't even find this that catchy. Look out now! I really like this song now. I cannot stop listening to the Travis Barker remix of this song... How come? You like it better than the original? Here's a first: I've finally got a major bone to pick with music Travis Barker's made: His rock remixes aren't tasteful at all. Take this: live drums? Good. Guitar playing the steel drum loop? Great. Sounds fantastic. The distorted guitar during the chorus? What are you, out of your mind? That sounds like ass in there. Newsflash to all "rock remix" producers: Less is more when putting in a rock guitar. His remix of "Umbrella" fares about the same: Drum fills? There's one he repeats that sounds fine. Unfortunately most of them are a little too loud, long and busy. Just dial back the distortion on the power chords during the chorus and get rid of the distorted guitar stabs on the verse chord changes. Yuck! The guitar sounds okay during the bridge, though. And this is weird, because I've never in my life felt like I ever had a place to tell a producer to step aside. I've never felt like I could've done a producer's job better than what they came up with.
