And I'll bet you my checking account that Akon song winds up being single number two. No way the record label isn't salivating over the prospect of releasing that song right now. F**k! You just had to say something, didn't you. If you'd never said anything, it wouldn't be going for Pop adds next week. (But it's not even a bad song and Akon's barely in it, or if he is, he really isn't too audible anyway. It's not like his presence micturates in the song with any kind of oversexed trash that he's doubly poisoning our popular culture waters with already at the moment.

Haven't heard the song, but from what you described it sounds like the "f/Akon" is unwarranted. Not too surprising that he's credited though, because it'll probably cause the song to peak at least 10 spots higher than it otherwise would have. Attaching Vanessa Carlton's name to "Big Yellow Taxi" when it shouldn't have been gave the Counting Crows their first hit in who knows how long, so obviously this method works.
And speaking of Akon, he's quickly ascending my "just go away" chart.

LOL, yeah I've noticed I tend to have that effect. I think there's been 6 Yankee games and 5 Nets games in the last year I've caused them to lose by doing that.

Haven't heard the song, but from what you described it sounds like the "f/Akon" is unwarranted. Yeah, his only contribution to the song (now that I've familiarized myself with the whole album) is adding "I want to get away to our sweet escape/I want to get away, yeah" to the end of the first and last choruses (not even the second!) and singing the "Woo-hoo/ Yee-hoo" part of the intro (which later serves as the post-chorus transition). Should not be credited. And that part's kind of annoying. Overall, though, I think it's a better song than "Wind It Up." It's got this pleasant, sing-songy shuffle to it. In fact, here's my Sweet Escape album ranker: (3.5/5) 01. Early Winter 02. Wonderful Life 03. 4 in the Morning 04. The Sweet Escape 05. Breakin' Up 06. Wind It Up 07. Orange County Girl 08. Fluorescent 09. U Started It 10. Don't Get It Twisted 11. Yummy 12. Now That You Got It

I like this too, and it's probably my 2nd favorite of her solo singles. Not that that says a whole lot, of course. Oh, and I couldn't even hear Akon until like the 5th listen.

It's not as bad as "Wind It Up", granted, but it's below all the L.A.M.B. singles for me (even "Hollaback Girl").

Yeah, I'd probably put it above "Hollaback Girl," but neither of these two singles has impressed me to near the extent of the better three L.A.M.B. singles ("Cool," "What You Waiting For," and "Luxurious"). Aside, it frustrates me that I still haven't been able to find Love Angel Music Baby at a respectable price. Even a trip to Wherehouse Music the other day proved fruitless.
