So here's a song that, for me anyway, came absolutely out of nowhere to go into the top 10. And I realize Linkin Park is always going to have a place on Pop, but this is when I thought the Fort Minor project was a relative flop after "Petrified" ran whatever course it ran.
And although, when I first heard about the song, I was expecting to be disappointed by it, I wasn't. The beat gives the song a fresh rhythm that could've otherwise rendered it impotent. And Holly Brooks really has the voice of an angel here. She doesn't try to milk anything out of the lyrics because she realizes her voice naturally does all the work it needs to. Which is nice, because it seems like a lot of singers - especially with the rise of American Idol, where milking songs seems like all anyone does - might have a hard time doing that.

Yeah, I also expected that if this project was going to produce a hit, it would have come a lot sooner. I do like the song, though. We'll see if I'll be saying the same thing a year from now when Holly's hook will still be stuck in my head. I like how his whole album apparently is sample-free, and judging by this song, he manages just fine without 'em.

I'm not really familiar with this song yet, despite owning a burned copy of the record. To clarify, Holly doesn't have an "s" on the end of her name, and I'm not sure what he does at this point, but Jonah Matranga (of the bands Far and Gratitude) is also a featured guest.
It seems like this is a fine song, but "it's kinda f**ked up" that Mike Shinoda says that line so many times, bringing in completely disjarring and unnecessary profanity into an otherwise pretty song.
