I actually am surprised how much I enjoy this, although that's probably more for the novelty of it (is that a Soft Cell sample in there?) than the actual song itself. It'll be interesting to see how this does, if anything at all.

I still haven't heard this somehow. The two songs I've heard from her get a D and an A-, so I'm not really sure what to expect here. Does it resemble either of the other two singles at all?

Yeah, that's a "Tainted Love" sample. I kinda think sampling or covering that song is pretty difficult to pull off just because it seems a bit more complex than it should be. I think Marilyn Manson's (awful) cover in 2002 was proof of that. That said, I really like this song. Her voice is just naturally hooky and it seems to play well to the sample. From what I understand, it's the first single off a new album, which seems somewhat unreasonable considering it hasn't even been a year since Music of the Sun. And while I have no intention of buying either album right now, I've enjoyed every single from her so far, so if she needs to just keep pumping music out as often as possible, then I say more power to her. Oh, and I think the song's already in the top 10, so it's doing just fine.

Well, you mentioned "Tainted Love" which was really Soft Cell doing a remake of Gloria Jones song.

I was just going to point that out, only I wouldn't have been able to come up with her name.
I swear the only reason this is flying up the chart is because of the Soft Cell sample. And now I read that it's not even the 3rd single from her first album, but the first from a brand new one already? Gimme a break. That said, this is probably my favorite of her 3 songs so far.

It's a bit repetitive, but I'm okay with the song for now. I'm surprised it's doing so well though, since it's essentially a third single. In fact, the second single from Music of the Sun ("If It's Lovin' That You Want") is probably going to exit my top 50 this week, to be replaced by...
...yep, "S.O.S."

S.O.S. is a great track. WAY better than that Pon De Replay crap.

I think Marilyn Manson's (awful) cover in 2002 was proof of that. Heh, I kind of grew to like that cover, on a novelty level. So I finally heard this last night and give it about a C+ for the time being. I think I like it more than I otherwise would have because of the "Tainted Love" sample, despite the song relying on it a little too much in my opinion.

I think I like it so much just because it does sample that song.

I'd agree. I actually like the version with the extended "Tainted Love" sample at the beginning more than the regular version. Even though I know it's just there so the DJ can talk over it, it sounds better to me.
