I heard this over the weekend and couldn't figure out what it was until today. I actually thought it was the new Click Five song because the sound is so similar.
Anyway, it's not doing too well on Pop, but there are a few stations playing it. It's a cool little piece of guitar-pop. I wish more songs like this would be picked up by the format.

KNSX has been playing this since last summer (technically, I guess they're a pop-punk band), and while I can't remember it offhand, I know I don't care for it and tend to change the station on it.

This is the furthest thing from a pop-punk song though. It's a Cars tribute in the vein of "Stacy's Mom", which is probably why I like it so much.

Haha! I guess you have a point. I just hate to see every pop song with guitars get lumped into pop-punk, because that label has a negative connotation. I feel like a lot of people misclassify this type of song. I'm still smarting from when one of my friends called Stacy's Mom "emo".

"Power-pop" is the term that's closest to most of the stuff you've been mentioning.
