This week I made an mp3 of the entire CHR/Pop Top 50 and wow, there's a lot of R&B and hip-hop stuff! Lots of stuff I didn't know either. I'd say I was familiar with about 10% of the chart. It's interesting to listen to all the songs and imagine how it would sound as part of Casey's American Top 40. And it also made me miss my chart because if I was still doing my weekly chart, I'd prolly already have most of these songs too. Aw well. I kinda made a new chart today so I'll post it. Anyways, no real comments on this chart.

Wow...I've only heard 60 percent of the top 10 this week (never heard "My Humps", "Like You", "Because Of You", or "Gold Digger"). I'd give a listen to the last 2 of those, but otherwise, I can't be convinced that I'm missing much.
I guess with four crossover hits in the top 10, it's not such a horrible thing to have the Fall Out Boy being one of them. At least the radio stations have something to choose from, rather than just playing the one crossover hit that's on the entire chart 80x for an entire year just to satisfy the claim that they have the best "variety" and totally destroying that song in the process.
Who the hell is Chris Brown and how does he go from (assumingly) being a nobody to having the hottest new record in the country right now, overnight. Haven't heard this one either, but I'm mad that it's so easy for newcomers to have such quick success at pop, when seemingly every other format is dominated by veterans.

He's a 16-year who's trying to sound like Usher but sounds more like Aaron Carter. That should be enough right there.
I'd also like to know how the hell Kanye flew up to #1 so fast when none of his other releases even made the top 20 here.

In Kanye's case, if anything, rap is less popular on the format than it was when songs like "Through The Wire" and "All Falls Down" charted.

I have heard every song in the top 10, but I have only heard 6 of them on the radio. Thats mainly because the stations I listen to mainly play rock or pop/rock. I havent heard any of the more RHY leaning ones.
