Matt's Top 50 returns for a 13th year! (I made a couple of unpublished charts in 2000, fell into sporadic updating through parts of 2008 and 2009, but other than that it's been like clockwork.)

#1
It took them 3 singles (and 4 total chart hits) to do it, but the Foo Fighters finally have their 4th consecutive album with a #1 hit. 2002's One By One saw "All My Life" and "Times Like These" reach the top; 2005's In Your Honor had "Best Of You" hit #1; and 2007's Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace was led by "The Pretender", perhaps the Foos' biggest hit ever on my chart. Wasting Light saw "Rope" and "Walk" relatively falter at #20 and #23 respectively, before rebounding with the #7 hit "Arlandria".
For the 3rd straight week, the top 4 songs are all by artists with previous #1s to their name. "Girls Like You" was preceded by #1s "Young Blood" and "All Of This"; "Take The World" comes 5 years after "These Things" hit the top; "What The Water Gave Me" comes one album after former #1 "Dog Days Are Over"; and we've already recounted the Foo Fighters' 4 previous chart-toppers.
The newcomer is fun.'s "We Are Young", as it charges 11-5. Lead singer Nate Ruess is the former frontman for The Format, who never hit the top 50 but probably would have bubbled under with "The First Single".
