TV On The Radio end the 8-week reign of "Whirring" at #1 -- but probably only temporarily. "Whirring" has a great chance of tying "Bring Me To Life" for the all-time weeks at #1 record (9) pending the KNDD Summer Camp this Friday. TDCC, Switchfoot, and "All Of This" appear to have huge jumps, but they're really only moderate. The relative dinosaurs (Avenged Sevenfold with 17 weeks, "Punching In A Dream" with 20 weeks, and The Script with 25 weeks) are starting to accelerate their drops now.
The chart is now really weak in the 11-20 range. Below that, "Thirteen Times The Strength" is now racing up the chart, which I didn't expect. Evanescence, "Do You Want It All", and Florence & The Machine are stronger than their position jumps indicate -- but now F&TM have a new song out ("What The Water Gave Me") that is good, and threatens to inihibit the success of "YGTL".
I shortchanged "In The Dark" a debut last week, so it enters the highest this week. But the biggest success story among the debuts is easily "Helena Beat". I could probably extend this chart to 100 the past couple of weeks thanks to the recent influx of new music I've become acquainted with, and this went straight into the top 50 in its first week of listening. "Pumped Up Kicks" was a decent-sized hit for me (peaking at #15), but "HB" has a 99%+ chance of surpassing that. "Blood Pressure" rounds out the debuts, but the new Mute Math single isn't exactly sizzling up the chart. I'm starting to fear their music is turning too blues-based for me to call them one of my favorites anymore.
