Nick's Notes:
"Welcome to the Family," due to timely radio play and All Access streams, retakes the throne. Now if Avenged would just put out a video for it, it could probably run away with the title for awhile. Same thing for "Coffee and Cigarettes." A music video would really help it out right about now.
Who would've thought a year ago that the Black Keys would have a Top 5 hit on my chart? Or that Arcade Fire would have reached #2? Or that The National would have hit the Top 10, not once, but twice now? Hell, who would've thought that Jimmy Eat World would place their entire new album in my Top 40 (Top 25, even)? Who would've thought that Linkin Park would ever hit #1 twice from the same album again, which hasn't happened in 10 years? They haven't even had a #1 since "In the End," either.
"Nightmare" slips out of the Top 10 for the first time in its 36 weeks on the chart. Surely "You've Seen the Butcher" hasn't peaked yet, while I haven't caught it on the radio this past week.
"Machine Gun Blues" finally debuts the way Social Distortion should be accustomed to on my chart, thanks to getting the album and my Alt station picking up the song.
Don't know why "Bloodbuzz" is finally resonating with me, like it's a brand new song or something. Finally heard "All of the Lights" on the radio. My Alt station has "All I Want" in seemingly heavy rotation now.
"No Love" might get shafted from returning to the Top 40 during its officially promoted run. Whether or not I catch "New Low" on a given week is apparently very instrumental in how it does on my chart. Wish "Black & Yellow" and "Cameras" would've gained more visible ground. "Dog Days Are Over" finally earns a place on the list, though I'm not confident that it's Top 40-bound.
"Rocketeer" would already be doing better if it didn't have such disposable, cheesy verses. "Factory" appears after catching Band of Horses on Austin City Limits last weekend. Previously knew the song (though not by name) way better than I thought I did, thanks to a bunch of All Access streams last year. Thanks for reading.
