This chart is dated 12/24/10; for the first time since 2004, the chart year will have 53 weeks. This is the 52nd week of the year, which means I have one more chart after this and my year will be complete.
SMBers: Would you listen to an audio countdown of the year-end chart, or would you prefer a guessing game?

SMBers: Would you listen to an audio countdown of the year-end chart, or would you prefer a guessing game? I'd love to hear an audio countdown I'm working on one myself, too!

SMBers: Would you listen to an audio countdown of the year-end chart, or would you prefer a guessing game? I'd be down for either. By the way, what's up with the "Black & Yellow" love? I like the song too; just wondering if there's a story there.

SMBers: Would you listen to an audio countdown of the year-end chart, or would you prefer a guessing game? I'd be down for either. By the way, what's up with the "Black & Yellow" love? I like the song too; just wondering if there's a story there. I think a lot of it is just the excitement of hearing something relatively fresh in hip-hop, and the dearth of new songs making big impacts. As you can see from my most recent chart, the average age of the top 7 in weeks (not counting Khalifa) is 17. Usually that's closer to 12.

Nick's Notes: "Waiting for the End," while I figured I was burned out on it and it had peaked at #12, keeps sounding better and better the more I hear it on the radio. Seriously, I was underwhelmed by it at first and resented the fact that it succeeded where "The Catalyst" had failed, but I've really taken a liking to it from a musical standpoint, especially from the bridge to the end.
"Littlething" rebounds because it was an extra song on Out of Order that I happened to catch when my alarm went off the previous Sunday morning. "You've Seen the Butcher" reappears on my chart thanks to my local Alt station supporting it heavily. May never have fallen off, but I don't get to listen nearly as often as I used to due to my day job.
These first three weeks of December were really the lowest point I've felt, regarding The Girl. The Lostprophets' Betrayed album was one I'd added to the iPod to review for my 2010 albums list, while at work. And their song "Darkest Blue," which I'd already heard several times, just leveled me the previous week when it came on. (But as it turned out, she told me something that gave me a reason to be hopeful again the very next day after I made this chart, one that has only grown brighter and brighter in the weeks since. I don't have any great expectations or delusions of grandeur, but I'm definitely cautiously optimistic now.)
"New Low" reappears because MC Rut opened for MCR (probably the reason they don't abbreviate themselves as MCR) the previous week and I'd heard "New Low" on the radio a time or two since.
