#1-#10:
- "Airplanes" spends its 6th week at #1, tops so far this year*, and isn't being immediately threatened yet... but it's "Gold Guns Girls" still holding strong at #2, in its 11th week in the top 3, that may deny "Airplanes" the title of #1 song of 2010.
- "Hurricane" is pretty weak for a #3; the good money is on Florence and the Machine to unseat B.o.B and crew.
- I didn't see this coming, but "The Sound" has tied the #4 peak of "Mess of Me".
- "The Royal We" finally appears to be backing off in the 21st week of its 2nd chart run, while fellow summer-2010 album track "In One Ear" graces the top 10 for the first time in just 7 short weeks this time around after reaching #25 in its first run.
- "The Only Exception" might not have anywhere else to rise, which would result in a frustrating two straight #6s for Paramore (although the six-month stay of "B4" is quite impressive).
- In the interest of discussion fairness: "OMG" has tied "U Don't Have to Call" as Usher's biggest chart hit, and Colbie Caillat deftly steps past three dinosaurs for her fourth top-10 hit.

#11-#19:
- Expect the aforementioned dinosaurs to continue falling quickly, with "Resistance" in danger of falling the quickest. "Breakeven" has been showing amazing longevity, though. This is unofficially its 29th week; besides "Haven't Met You Yet", this is the only currently-charting song that was also charting at the end of 2009. I didn't have any charts the last two weeks of the year, so its positions were estimated, but are being counted as weeks on. It has transcended the "my breakup song" status I gave it in March, and is a legitimate contender for #1 song of the year in its own right (the first time my chart's 10-year history that a #1 song of the year would fail to hit #1 on a weekly chart).
- Below, the competition is fierce. 3OH!3 has held everyone off long enough for "Follow Me Down" to edge out "Don't Trust Me" as their biggest chart hit; the little engine that could, "Let It Go", is now Cavo's biggest hit in their 19th week on the chart; and "Find Your Love" and "Ridin' Solo" have bullets equivalent to +800s on the pop chart, but can only rise 3 spots each.
#20-#30:
- Every bulleted song here is strong, except "Giving Up the Gun" and "I'm Awesome". They just don't have any further to go right now.
- "Break Your Heart" and "Alejandro" take harsh falls from their peak positions due to the tough competition. "Alejandro" had risen multiple spots each week it was on the chart before its 6-spot tumble this week. Same story for "Bulletproof"; although it wasn't at its positional peak, this is its first week without a bullet (and only had a small bullet loss, at that).
#31-40:
- You could probably have bet me $100 that Enrique Iglesias would: (a) have another top-50 hit on my chart; (b) have another top-40 hit; and (c) have a song that debuts within the top 40... and now I'd be $300 poorer. It's just one of those things you can't explain. The fact that it uses a lyric from Lionel Richie's "All Night Long", the #1 song in America on the day of my birth, might be helping just a bit. Its sights are set for the top 15, which would mean it toppled "Escape" as Iglesias' biggest chart hit -- a full 8 years after he dropped my radar presumably for good.
- If you saw an Eminem song debut at #38 on my chart this week, odds are you'd think it's "Love the Way You Lie". But it's just an old-fashioned "Johnny come lately" episode for "Not Afraid".
#41-#50:[/b]
- I've recently come to respect "California Gurls" as a quintessential "summer song", the likes of which I'm not sure I've ever observed before. We'll see how long it translates into chart status.
- The debuts in this section are unproven, but still preferable over hangers-on Michael Buble and Drake. "Haven't Met You Yet" and "Forever" still look good for year-end top-50 status, though, despite their modest peaks. Honestly, I've given "Forever" short shrift in the past two months, even though it's (finally) on the outs now. I couldn't help singing along to it almost every time I heard it in the car or what-have-you. And perhaps its more enduring legacy is allowing me to be more receptive to Drake's subsequent singles, both of which are moving up at a pretty decent rate.
