Nick's Notes:
1-10:
"Brick by Boring Brick" regained its bullet unexpectedly this week, after the song (and maybe the whole album, as I later heard "All I Wanted") was played as house music during a break at the Passion Pit show. There's a good distance between #1 and #2, an equal one between #2 and #3, a ravine between #3 and #4, but then #4-11 are all really close.
11-20:
"Home" may very well have peaked last week at #12. We'll see.
21-40:
"Tighten Up" debuts after reading an endearing article on the Black Keys in Rolling Stone, which included Dan Auerbach describing to Patrick Carney a director's treatment for the "Tighten Up" video. (Patrick: "Oh, I gotta read it, that sounds good. Who plays the hot mom?" Dan: "Your mom, actually...And I f*** her." ) Thankfully they went with the treatment Dan was telling him about and it turned out even funnier than I was expecting. I don't get much out of their music, generally speaking, but "Tighten Up" is actually my favorite song of theirs I've heard to date.
Contenders:
Eminem's "No Love" features Just Blaze's WTF-idea to produce a track built around Haddaway's "What Is Love." The genius of it is that he pulled it off. Thanks for reading.
