They have a new live CD called Scab Dates, just released today, that I'll be picking up before too long.
I saw them about a month ago, as they were opening for System. It seemed like a gnarly combination at first, but in retrospect, it probably wasn't a good idea. Now, I'm a huge fan of both bands, but the average SOAD fans just don't get TMV, and as a result, they don't like them either (although from what I've noticed, the average SOAD fan doesn't get SOAD, either.) I'd say about 90% of the crowd were only there to see System, with another 2 percent just for the TMV, and the remaining 8% looking to see both (like me).
I've read that Cedric and Omar have seemed "pissed" throughout the whole tour, and my show was no exception. Omar's guitar was cutting out, and he just slammed it to the ground right in the middle of a song. They were mad at the crowd's disrespect of the opening act Hella, and he said "Those guys will be making headlines 5 years from now, and you're all gonna tell your brothers and sisters you saw them here, 'cause you're full of shit.". Then as they exited the set, They flipped off the crowd.
At first I thought it may have just been a part of their act, but sadly, I think it's that all the critical praise they've received has gone into their heads so deeply that they hate anyone who doesn't think they're the greatest band ever. But I love 'em anyway because they truly are world class musicians, and I'm awaiting their headlining tour. Maybe then I'll get to see 'em play 6 songs instead of just 4.
