I heard the last couple of minutes of this on my Alt station on the way home, and it hit me like a breath of fresh air. You wouldn't have shocked me had you told me it was a Cure song, but instead it's new stuff from a new(?) artist. Doing okay on Alternative: 32 31 AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT Sometime Around Midn... I saw them live recently when they were touring as one of The Fratellis' opening acts, along with Electric Touch. I was left with a pretty negative impression, because a lot of their songs just didn't translate well to the stage. I don't know if that has more to do with the songs themselves or performance experience. Like, when I'm standing right by the stage, and there's a big speaker near me, it kind of hurts when you're playing your guitar and there's heavy, high-pitched distortion of some sort. I think it was intentional, but not having heard studio versions, I can't say for sure.
This song was one of the better parts of their set, but I can only get so into it. It's one of those songs I don't mind hearing, but don't really go out of my way to hear again. If you're into them, though, check out "Does This Mean You're Moving On?" It was one of the other highlights of their set. I think I liked the last song they did too ("Innocence") but I can't remember how it goes now.
