I bought dredg's Catch Without Arms album 2 weeks ago, and the very first thing I noticed about the CD was that the band is on Interscope Records. As I've said before on a different message board: absolutely inexcusable for that major record label to be unable to push "Bug Eyes" into the top 50 at the very least. Anyway, my first exposure to this band came through the songs "Brushstroke: Dcbtfoabaaposba" and "Same Ol' Road", on a mix Cd from our very own Nicholas2.0. I later acquired a burned copy of their El Cielo album from my sister, and while I'm unfamiliar with most of that CD, I enjoy the latest album enough to be looking to get to know it a little better. The song ended up getting as high as #55. It's fallen into oblivion now, out of the top 100. Except for some reason, today I noticed "Bug Eyes" as debuted at #19 on 89X's "hitlist". I was like, "ok, it's nice that I'll get to hear this on the radio, but where the f**k were you when the song was at #55 and poised to make a move onto the chart. Hopefully "Ode To The Sun" or "Catch Without Arms" will be able to back "Bug Eyes" up. Because all three songs seriously are top ten material, without any compromises.

Brushstroke: Dcbtfoabaaposba You had to go look that up, didn't you. I wouldn't have been able to remember that spelling, unless I was still listening to the record on a regular basis. "Bug Eyes" is amazing. Lucky me, while I own the album, I heard it yet again on KNSX last weekend as I drove home. I bought Catch Without Arms the week after it came out. I didn't realize exactly when it was coming out and for some reason, Best Buy didn't put it on sale until the week after, so I had no idea until June 28. I haven't listened to it quite as much as I would've liked to at this point; it's gotten lost in the shuffle so far. What frosts my shorts is that when I was in Missouri, they came to Memphis and after I came back down to Memphis, they played St. Louis. Wankers.

Actually, I was just in the process of ripping the album onto my computer when I made the post, and the album had all the titles already set up, so I just copied it from there. They're on tour with somebody else I wanted to see right now, I'm thinking either Thrice or Coheed and Cambria, but I couldn't/can't make it to either of them, because it'd have to be on a weekend.

I bought Catch Without Arms as an impulse buy at Circuit City around the week it came out (I think).
Easily my favorite cd of the year.
And interscope records really must suck pretty bad for not being able to get Bug Eyes in the Top 5. That song is beautiful. Actually, I'd say half of this album is fit for radio. I'd say even Atlantic could have pushed it further, and that's a stretch.

Shoot, the more I listen to this record, I don't really know if there's a single song on there that, on paper, wouldn't work at at least one of Alternative, Triple A, Hot AC, or Pop. Interscope just totally blew it, and there's nothing more to say. It's not to late to make amends yet, though.
