I put the topic here, because it has nothing to do with the content of the album, really, but rather a review of it on punknews.org. The album gets a glowing 5-star review and is full of fawning, thick paragraphs that are way too long to bother reading, considering I'm not a Decemberists fan. (It's not that I don't like them; they're just too literary and indie for me to take much interest in.) Anyway, for the purposes of posterity, here's one of the comments one of the users posted afterward, which will be the funniest thing I'll read all day: I'm still laughing my ass off, reading it back. I am laughing my ass off too Nick. Clearly the Decemberists are too sophisticated for people like him! I can only hope that he will see the light once he has grown older and learned more things about his developing body! Anyway, this album is beautiful and thrilling in a way that I could not even try to articulate. It makes me get that hollow pressure in my chest like before I'm about to cry. I want to drive around aimlessly at 3 AM while listening to this album, get out of the car and run into a field, tumble into a ball and roll and then just sit there in dark moonlight and cry. Cry in a cathartic, everything-is-confusing-right-now-but-will-eventually- work-out kind of way because I still have time to discover what I want from the world. Their day is coming sooner than you think!

You read it right, these guys are back! Who do you think you're addressing here at SMB when you begin a topic like that about Tapes n' Tapes? The indie fan subconsciously and latently buried within your cerebral cortex.

Haven't been to Hot Topic in a while before I worked in there the other day and some of the s*** they're selling there now. I mean, they had Augustana shirts there. What the hell has happened to them. Nothing against Augustana and their music, but how did they end up in that store. Who needs Hot Topic anyway? I bought three pairs of jeans yestersday for just $599 each and they own everything and anything one can find behind the doors of Hot Topic.

You read it right, these guys are back! Definitely worth your time to listen to this new one. Spiritual, sincere, and euphoric bonfire music. Just what one needs at critical moments of their life to help them slow down and appreciate the finer things. Can make any night indescribably joyous and serene. Of course, heart pain and melancholy can be an esculent treat, when mixed with fine pop such as this!

What didn't "A-Punk" do to change the world?

This forum lacked discussion of superior music before I got here, that is for sure!

This band may become one of my favorites ever because I might never completely figure out their motives. "Oxford Comma", the follow up to the world-changing "A-Punk", is a creative triumph in the purest form imaginable. It is both stunning and widely accessible from the perspective of traditional rock. It inflects necessary youth into a perfectly-paced pile of consistently strong songs of the rock tradition.

If their expertly-crafted EP is any indication, this band will be HUGE next year. Mark my words. There is a genuinely emotional core present when one listens to this song. It is perplexing and perverse to some, yet uncompromisingly affecting to others. Either way, it leaves the listener in an unforseen psychotic rush. It captures what it feels like to truly be alive and breathing in a way that I never believed possible.

I just know that M.I.A. will be huge on American radio some day very soon! Gotta love this amalgam of mysterious sounds, buzzing with sounds from everywhere, mixed into something that is natural and original. Something astoundingly breathtaking pops up every other second. This is a work of complete control that is simultaneously artistic and stylistic, basically telling the listener "do not f*** with me, for I am the master."

Santogold is so likable to such a wide array of the human population, whether you agree with her musical politics, or have no idea what the heck she may be talking about. It is beyond spectacular to see an artist who is so dead serious about her craft, making such a brilliant, outspoken statement with such a pan-ethnic, pure consciousness. She is the coolest of cool for sure. I knew her day would come and it finally has!
