This is from '79...*sigh* I can't believe I'm having so much trouble choosing from 10 years of material.

Pretty sure "Head Like a Hole" is '89 for the album, '90 for the single, so it should be okay. Yeah, Pretty Hate Machine came out in '89, and the single was only released in March of 1990, so I'll let it slide. Thanks, by the way, to everyone for providing the links and making my job a hell of a lot easier. About the field size, I don't know. If you guys want to do more than 64, we can. I just don't want this to drag on for too long.

F**k me. I wish I would've at least considered "Everybody Wants to Rule the World."

Looks like the submissions have dried up already. Since we're already at 49 songs, I'll let those who have already nominated songs get up to three more entries if they so choose, just so we can get things off the ground soon.

Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes The #1 song the day I was born. All matchups were determined by a random draw (yes, I actually drew the songs out of a hat ) Ohhhhhhhh...You didn't need to disclose that. This will be quite the undertaking, as I'll need to (re)/familiarize myself with about 20 songs.

Some of these groups are way tough.
Round 1
Group 1 New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
Def Leppard - Rock of Ages
Group 2 Billy Idol - Dancing with Myself
Ozzy Osbourne - Bark At the Moon
Group 3 Madonna - Like a Prayer
The Pixies - Where Is My Mind (Did I really just do that? Yikes. I won't be at all disappointed if the Pixies song advances.)
Group 4 Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Guns n' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
Group 5
Prince - I Would Die 4 U Don Henley - The Boys of Summer (I love that Prince song and the Henley song is overplayed, but I still gotta go this way. Another where I won't mind seeing my choice go, though.)
Group 6
Ministry - Stigmata Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Group 7 Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
John Cougar - Jack and Diane
Group 8
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust U2 - With or Without You (Battle of the overplayed)
Group 9 New Order - True Faith
Salt N' Pepa - Push It (Ouch)
Group 10 The Smiths - Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Bryan Adams - Heaven (I love "Heaven" but...)
Group 11 Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
Skid Row - 18 and Life
Group 12
Def Leppard - Foolin' Missing Persons - Words
Group 13
Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World R.E.M. - Orange Crush (Would have gone the other way if the big TFF hit was "Head Over Heels")
Group 14 Guns n' Roses - Paradise City
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Group 15 The Police - Every Breath You Take
Bauhaus - She's In Parties (It'd probably take more than the two listens I gave it for me to fairly judge the Bauhaus selection.)
Group 16 Romeo Void - A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)
Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure ("Under Pressure" is a great song, though, so I don't mind that it's probably already won this.)
Group 17 No vote - preference would change with my mood. Both great.
Group 18 Bobby Brown - Every Little Step
Tears For Fears - Shout Group 19
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole
Group 20
Beastie Boys - Brass Monkey Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire

Group 26 The Clash - London Calling
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn
Group 27 Joy Division - Disorder

Round 1
Group 1 New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
Def Leppard - Rock of Ages (But LOL, I remember reading an article that stated that the intro was the only aural proof that Mutt Lange actually existed.)
Group 2 Billy Idol - Dancing with Myself
Ozzy Osbourne - Bark At the Moon
Group 3
Madonna - Like a Prayer The Pixies - Where Is My Mind
Group 4 Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Guns n' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle (Not bad, but had to be paired with something else to get the vote.)
Group 5 Prince - I Would Die 4 U
Don Henley - The Boys of Summer
Group 6 I refuse to vote.
Group 7 Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
John Cougar - Jack and Diane
Group 8
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust U2 - With or Without You
Group 9 New Order - True Faith
Salt N' Pepa - Push It (Once again, the above entry is too good.)
Group 10 The Smiths - Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Bryan Adams - Heaven
Group 11
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up Skid Row - 18 and Life
Group 12 Def Leppard - Foolin'
Missing Persons - Words (But I probably would have voted "Walking in L.A." in favor if that were an option, and "maybe" even "Destination Unknown.")
Group 13
Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World R.E.M. - Orange Crush
Group 14
Guns n' Roses - Paradise City Michael Jackson - Beat It
Group 15
The Police - Every Breath You Take Bauhaus - She's In Parties
Group 16
Romeo Void - A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing) Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure
Group 17 Peter Gabriel - Red Rain
Modern English - I'll Melt with You
Group 18
Bobby Brown - Every Little Step Tears For Fears - Shout Group 19
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized (And I hate doing this one, too, because this one's so much fun. I love reciting a lot of its lyrics... "All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me!") Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole
Group 20 Beastie Boys - Brass Monkey
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire
Group 21
Run-DMC featuring Aerosmith - Walk This Way The Blue Nile - Downtown Lights
Group 22
Madonna - Into the Groove Minor Threat - In My Eyes (Like 'em about the same, but I think to even it out I'll do this one.)
Group 23
The Smiths - This Charming Man Dramarama - Anything Anything
Group 24
Blondie - Rapture Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days
Group 25 Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Bruce Springsteen - Brilliant Disguise
Group 26 The Clash - London Calling
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn
Group 27
Joy Division - Disorder (But psst... This was from '79's Unknown Pleasures album, NOT Closer. And once again, a split of the hairs vote.) Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
Group 28
John Farnham - You're the Voice Roxy Music - More Than This
Group 29 Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Talking Heads - This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) (Very good song, though.)
Group 30 Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)
The Clash - Rock the Casbah
Group 31 The Fixx - Secret Separation
Don Henley - The End of the Innocence
Group 32
Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia

I don't know if the Proboards f***-up causing the downtime at Pulse has kept some people away, but just in case, I'm extending the deadline 24 hours to give everyone a chance to get in on voting.
