He's gotten minimal play on alternative with his single, "Hollywood's Not America," but really I'd say he's much more an alternative artist than CHR/POP. I sort of impulsively bought his album after sampling a few songs on his myspace previously. I'm glad I did, it's got a great vibe to it. Like I said in the post title it very much runs along the lines of Keane and Jack's Mannequin. If you listen to songs like "Everybody Bleeds The Same," and "Something About You" you should see the similarities. Still he's a pretty good songwriter and his vocals are actually really good. There isn't a song I dislike on the album. I like the two ballads "Rush" and "Take My Lips."Overall, a really good album, but the single isn't representative, I think.

Haven't heard this in awhile, but I think it's cool that American Idol is using it as their dismissal song this year, as while it's not a complete harsh dis, I do seem to remember some fairly sharp lyrics in it.

They actually cut it when they got to the top 12, I think. Apparently "so long, put your blue jeans back on girl, go home..Remember, Hollywood's not America."
They replaced it with a cheap "We Celebrate You" or something from Ruben. So thanks to them for launching it, but now it's struggling. His album hasn't even made the top 200 any week, let alone his debut.

Your Keane/Jack's Mannequin comparisons piqued my interest, so I went to Amazon.com and scanned his album. Definitely a favorable first impression.

It's under $10 regular price at Target. Very much worth the money. Although I got s***ted out of seeing him live this weekend, that was a big disappointment. He has an interesting background, he was kidnapped by his biological dad when he was a small child and taken to a middle eastern country, (I believe Jordan) and his mom had to fight and go through a insane legal process to get him back. That has to be hard for a child.

The song is barely interesting enough for repeat listens, but the one thing that drives me up the wall about it is how big of a sissy he sounds like when he sings "blue jeans" in that ridiculous falsetto during the last two choruses.

Bahh..well I'll tell ya the album is better than that song. The song is really out of place I think, I assume they only included it to try to launch him off American Idol.
