I like those real-life to NES re-enactments...somebody made one from Tecmo Super Bowl with Arizona knocking Minnesota out of the playoffs on the last play of the season in '03. I get to see a lot of Gus Johnson; he was also behind the mic for this fine game in 2005. But CBS has a tendency to stick the vets on all the good games and leave guys like Gus to pick up the trash, and as a result, he calls a lot of Cleveland Browns games as well.

I gravitated to the "movies in 5 seconds" I'd already seen, but Clerks was my hands-down favorite. I was thinking, for a movie that doesn't have much of a plot, how are they even gonna break it down? (Also seeing that it was only 8 seconds long.) Now I know. ;D I literally laughed out loud for like, half a minute. I also enjoyed what they did with: The Big Lebowski Full Metal Jacket Star Wars & The Empire Strikes Back And while I was disappointed with what they did with the first Back to the Future, by the time I watched all 3 back to back, I was laughing. Obviously it was widely seen on TV (not by me), but I'm a big fan of the Dick in a Box skit.

Oh wow. My buddy posted that on my MySpace page, as you may have seen. I had no idea it was so widespread and that A) That was for real and B) It was in your own backyard. Why the hell is it so long? Does it run on TV like that for the full 2 minutes?

Yeah, I noticed that game was on when I was at the mall today and wondered if CBS at least gave Gus that game to give him something to do today. Oh well, hopefully I can at least hear him call the Nets-Knicks game in a few weeks since he's the Knicks' radio announcer, and he went pretty crazy in their first game at MSG this season, in which the Knicks nearly pulled off a 4th quarter comeback before the Nets won on the last shot. Well, it's not the Montgomery Flea Market, but Ted Sadtler of the Mattress Ranch is usually pretty entertaining. Ted's tieTed and his, um, puppet(Note: I had no idea they had stores in Alaska, which is where these commericals are based, until I actually saw the videos. They have three stores in my county, and I just assumed that's where he's from, but the content in both states is still the same anyway).

Does it run on TV like that for the full 2 minutes? It doesn't actually run in my area (Montgomery is about 3 hours away; I get the Mobile, AL/Pensacola, FL stations), but it's in the same state. From what I know, it was originally a 30-second (or 1-minute) ad, then was discovered by and shown on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, after which they made an extended version. I haven't made a real visit in years, but I passed through Montgomery monthly when I attended Auburn (an hour east of the city).

I'm cheating because it's not actually on Youtube (yet) but this highlight session includes what may be the most unbelievable shot I've ever seen--with it actually being a game-tying shot after Denver had the ball with 1.5 seconds in regulation. Whatever became of that Nba topic we had in here anyway. Not that there would've been any more than two people discussing it, but I do remember checking in here one day looking to add to it, only to find out that the topic had simply vanished.

That was definitely a great shot, but I watched a video today that'll almost certainly replace Rasheed's shot in your mind: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMV_gvBwL1gI actually thought there was a slim chance this shot was faked until I found the box score.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. Chalk that up to my paranoia. I started it after the Nets pulled off a couple good wins against Denver and Utah, and then after it was posted they promptly mailed in two stinkbombs against Detroit and Orlando. I felt like I jinxed them with the post, and since nobody else had commented yet, I decided to delete it. I kinda figured you'd be the only one to respond anyway, but I guess I assumed you hadn't noticed it yet. And obviously, it did not change the Nets' luck, and it looks like now they'll either scrape up five or six lotto combinations that Boston and Memphis don't get or get embarrassed in the first round by Detroit.

I remember seeing that shot on the news. Then the guy goes on their local newscast and hits another shot from the same spot. Who knows if that one was faked, but either way, that's incredible stuff.
But I wasn't actually watching the Guilford game; I just saw the highlight on the news. You know you're not gonna get Guilford highlights on the local news without something absolutely preposterous taking place. But I was sitting there watching the Pistons game as it was happening, and Wallace grabbed the loose ball and drilled it from 62 feet to tie the game. I've never seen anything like that, I've never felt anything like that, and I probably never will again.

My first Youtube video!I went for the cliched "cute yet strange animal" video, with my dog Windville, who's lately been making weird noises whenever he wants to come in from the outside. I just wish I could've gotten his sister in the video, since she's even cuter, in my opinion.

The neighbors dog was making a similar noise for a while, not quite as rough, but it was pretty loud and we could hear him fine even with the TV on.

Tina Fey made me long for the glory days of Colin Quinn and his pet crickets. Colin Quinn made me long for the glory days of Norm MacDonald. I'd say Norm made me long for the glory days of Kevin Nealon, but Norm was a fine replacement, himself.

Same here, but it was at least amusing watching how little the audience cared about Quinn's report, like a halftime show at a football game where everyone gets up to use the facilities and buy hot dogs. The Fallon/Fey update provided no such amusement, and I can't fathom that all-bimbo report they're trying now (which I've never watched any longer than passing through the room while the show was running) as possibly changing that.

Really, it's been downhill since Dennis Miller single-handedly saved the segment in 1985. Yeah, Miller and Nealon were so good at what they did they make everyone else look ridiculous by comparison (except Chevy Chase and Jane Curtin, though I've never seen any of those episodes). MacDonald worked because he was kind of a hybrid between the two, albeit watered down a little.
Colin Quinn just sounded angry all the time, like he was demanding you pay attention to him, which, in comedy, almost always results in the inverse. And don't forget Jimmy Fallon's contribution to that disastrous result this decade. I was always curious to see what it would've been like if they had him do the segment solo (since historically that's always been the best formula), but he's such a faceless comedian that it probably wouldn't have been too much of an improvement anyway. I mean, aside from misguidedly thinking he was the next Adam Sandler, he didn't bring anything more to the table than I would have if I had been asked to do the segment.

Anyone remember this one from Sesame Street? This is one I remember from the late 1970s, even though the song sounds more like early 70s. As stated in the comments, it sounds a lot like Helen Reddy singing. If it is indeed Ms. Reddy, I wonder if "I Am Woman" is the sequel to this?

I was hoping I'd remember that one, but they must've stopped showing it by the time I started watching from '82 to, I dunno, '88? I saw this one regularly. Clearly carried over from the '70's. I always marveled at the guy sleeping on the bridge (construction site?) beams above the highway. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yYX__GwDs0God, after watching that, I was like, "What the hell am I doing? It's 3 in the morning for crying out loud." Peace out.

For me, I'll never forget the great "How Crayons are Made" clip, which has probably been shown for at least the last 30 years. The News Flashes with Kermit the Frog were one of my favorite regular sketches, as well. A few of them still stand out to me, such as this one with Pinocchio. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVepvFmwz_Q

^ LMAO at the clip! Awesome PSA announcement. Here is my Youtube clip. I think it is GREAT for laughs. It is probably the dumbest and silliest hiphop video ever made: youtube.com/watch?v=rGrqW3nx5HM
