What else I've gotten: The Shins - "Phantom Limb" single AFI - The Art of Drowning (this too. Actually, I bought the All Hallow's E.P. first. Both purchased before last set.) The Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton - Irony Is a Dead Scene (EP) (used)
I just ordered online: Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero [limited edition with lithograph; only available at Insound] Thrice - Red Sky EP
I've also gotten Rancid's Let's Go and Indestructible albums in the authentic versions, to replace burned copies.

I've since added to my collection: 3 mix CDs documenting "The Good Times" my ex-girlfriend and I shared over our 3 and a half years together.
DragonForce - Inhuman Rampage (the girl at work I like traded me a burned copy of this for a burned copy of Killswitch Engage's End of Heartache, after said bands played a show together.) Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival (Target's exclusive version with the DVD. The extra tracks exclusive to Circuit City and to Best Buy canceled each other out. I'll get my hands on those songs eventually.) Aaliyah - One in a Million (used buyback price) The Notorious B.I.G. - Life After Death (used buyback price. Finally! I have it 4 years after first hearing it. And I didn't even have to buy it new, or even "used" for that matter!)
This guy was selling back at least a hundred (mostly '90's) R&B and hip hop CDs from his collection. (Aaliyah & Biggie came from him.) But solely to extract the singles and "sell" them back, I also took home: Jade - Jade to the Max Jodeci - Forever My Lady Kris Kross - Totally Krossed Out Mo' Money soundtrack

Back to a different library for more burnable material:
Alkaline Trio - Crimson All American Rejects - Move Along Audioslave - Out Of Exile Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor Gomez - Split The Difference Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death Green Day - Nimrod. Nelly Furtado - Loose People In Planes - As Far As The Eye Can See Radiohead - Amnesiac (+44) - When Your Heart Stops Beating The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
Blast that 12 CD limit. There's at least 30 more at this location alone that I'd 'borrow'.

Nah, 12 at a time. It just means I have to make multiple trips to get everything I want out of there, and this branch is about 10 miles out of the way (I've already cleaned out the one down the street from home).
I would assume most libraries have an audio/visual department.

Our libraries have them too, but the good ones are usually gone and you have to put them on hold, which could take weeks or even months. Much easier to just download.
Oh, I just bought: Common: Be

Yeah, but when you download them, you have to actually listen to each song to make sure they are what you're looking for in terms of quality. I just added 1100 songs to my hard drive in the last 3 weeks and I just don't have the time to verify all those.

Download full albums via IRC or Bittorrent then. It's very rare to have s***ty quality that way.

I haven't checked out stuff from the library in a while, but I've done it with quite a bit of albums. Sometimes I'll be impressed enough to buy the albums.
---------------------------------------- Stuff I've gotten since then: silversun pickups - Carnavas Fugees (Tranzlator Crew) - Blunted on Reality Ministry - With Sympathy (CD quality, "burned." Sorry, I don't buy $25 to hear 9 songs.) Nine Inch Nails - Still (This and above from HearMusic. I'm lucky to be in one of the few they've got.) Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth Ramones - Ramones Mania Scary Manilow - Sci-Fi Thriller (Local band, and one of my favorites of the local scene.) Kanye West - The College Dropout Ministry - "Jesus Built My Hotrod" single Tori Amos - Crucify [EP]

Paid for: nine inch nails: year zero (with the lithograph thrown in) Silversun Pickups - Carnavas Rancid - ...And Out Come The Wolves Novada - These White Lies Die With Us (this was a throw in; I'd never heard of them)
I think my days of big-box music shopping are finished. I could have gotten the same 3 albums at best buy for $4.06 more. 3 years ago it would have been about $20 less. Best buy can kiss my ass and I wish my gift cards had been to someplace else so that I wouldn't have ultimately bought my ipod there as well.
Then I returned to the library for the following burnage: The Beastie Boys - Ill Communication The Beastie Boys - To the 5 Boroughs The Bravery - (s/t) Bad Religion - No Substance Soul Coughing - El Oso Soundgarden - Down on the Upside Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music... Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet? Def Leppard - Hysteria Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist Trivium - The Crusade The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan

Bah, I went to my local library the other day, and the CD selection was next to nil, except of course for the ones I already own. I'd have better luck at Value Village.

I bought them at a local record store called Culture Clash, and the other comment I forgot to mention is how much more preferable it is to actually talk with the cashiers about the music you're buying/they're playing, opposed to having to talk your way out of signing up for credit cards, "free" magazine subscriptions, extended warranties, and all sorts of other s*** that nobody wants. Seeing COB and Trivium from randomly selected videos on Launch in the past convinced me to give them a shot as soon as I noticed them on the racks. It amazed me that a building with the reputation of being a quiet place would offer music like that. Hysteria just seemed like an album I should own a copy of, so I picked that up too. I could probably zip any of those up and e-mail 'em if you'd like.

I could probably zip any of those up and e-mail 'em if you'd like. ;D Please. That being said, it may behoove us to swap lists of our entire collections then, and trade what we want like baseball cards. I can easily start by zipping up my spreadsheet and sending it your way.

God, that sounds like a cool idea, even if I was never intended in that part of the forum.
That being said, good deals never end and sometimes people give you CD's to go along with what you already have.
VNV Nation - Judgement Psyopus - Our Puzzling Encounters Considered (An impulse buy, but it was less than $5 used and I was interested in hearing from 'em anyway. I could probably get a couple bucks out of it if I didn't like it after enough tries, anyway.) Startin' 5ive - Dead or Alive, Vol. 1 (Free CD given with those. Some people who rode my bus in high school would play this pretty much every day. 2 years is not long enough to really forget that. But I'd still like to joke with some of these people if they ask about it if they really mean by the '80's group. After all, being it's local and will ultimately not be relevant.) Rancid - "Roots Radicals" single
And this was all at clearance for $3 and under, pretty much: Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned Tori Amos - from the choirgirl hotel Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single

Chevelle - Vena SeraFront end of a Target gift card that had been burning a hole in my pocket for some time now. I came narrowly close to using the balance on Year Zero, which they had at $9.98, but seeing several other albums that piqued my interest for the same price or less made me chicken out. Of course, now that price is history, so if and when I decide to get that album, it might have to be a used copy. Well count yourself included then, homeslice. I'll open this up to any of you guys. Whoever wants a copy of my spreadsheet to see what's in my collection, just speak up. Yeah, I'll bite on that too, I suppose.

Even after zipping up an album, it's still way too big for me to attach (and would be to receive) in my Yahoo account. What do we want to do here? Rapidshare or something?

Even after zipping up an album, it's still way too big for me to attach (and would be to receive) in my Yahoo account. What do we want to do here? Rapidshare or something? I prefer Sendspace for large file transfers. Rapidshare limits you to so many megabytes an hour, which means you could be tied up for several hours if downloading a high-quality album. Oh, and I haven't bought anything in a while. But I just started a new (full-time) job today, so maybe I'll feel it's justified to buy some CDs soon.

We can always try DC++ (again)... Don't we have to be online at the same time for that, or something? I prefer Sendspace for large file transfers. Rapidshare limits you to so many megabytes an hour, which means you could be tied up for several hours if downloading a high-quality album. Sendspace it is then. I guess I'll PM each user the links to the stuff they want.

I wouldn't mind trying the dc++ again. I remember being able to connect to Slinky's computer, but not Matt's. Or it'd connect but refuse to download any files. I wouldn't have any problem leaving it online; the connectivity would be the problem if it still persists.
