Apparently my collection hasn't been updated online since 9/7:
September Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News (burned off a friend) Victory Records New Music Sampler (Free outside the MCR concert: Two Aiden songs, two Audition songs, one Bayside song) Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Original Motion Picture Soundtrack HIM - Razorblade Romance (used) Tori Amos - from the choirgirl hotel (used) HIM - Dark Light
October Deftones - B-sides & Rarities Still Remains - Of Love and Lunacy It Dies Today - The Caitiff Choir Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (soundtrack/compilation) Masters of Horror soundtrack Story of the Year - Page Avenue Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any... Letter Kills - The Bridge Mix CD (previous 4 burned by a friend and mailed to me) Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth B-sides (5-song compilation my brother made for me before we saw them again at Memphis' Voodoo Fest date and in Nashville)
November Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor Grandma - Open the Mysteries of Your Creation (EP) (Memphis band that two of my friends are in) Mix CD (Mailed by same friend from above; she accidentally put several wrong songs that I hadn't specifically asked for on the first one. This one made up for it.)

Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth B-sides (5-song compilation my brother made for me before we saw them again at Memphis' Voodoo Fest date and in Nashville)Does that include "Home"? Haha, I've been trying to get a proper copy of that one (but since some jerkoff stole my copy of WT, I figure I'll just buy the import next time). I haven't really bought anything in awhile. There's nothing that's making me rush for a particular release yet.EDIT: Oh yeah, I remember buying one album recently: Nov. 5: Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel (would've gotten it even sooner, but every place I checked then was out of copies). I think though that I've ripped and received music a lot more this year than any other year. Last album I receiveed was a cassette copy of Appetite for Destruction by Guns 'N Roses. Most of the other received ones this year were (already burned CDs) from a friend of mine shortly before he went into his base for the Navy. Though those were all Sept., I'm not quite sure the title for all of them, but most of them.

Does that include "Home"? Haha, I've been trying to get a proper copy of that one (but since some jerkoff stole my copy of WT, I figure I'll just buy the import next time). Some guy on Pulse (I think it was soil101 or whatever his username was) had the mp3 of "Home." He sent it to me, I emailed it to my brother since I don't have my own computer, and yeah, he put it on there, along with 4 remixes that came from Halos 20 & 21, I guess they would be. We both forgot that he had also included "Home" on a mix CD he gave me last spring.

Possibly 18 & 20? Those are the singles so far, at least of what's listed on the web site. Haha, almost everything on both singles is a remix of "THTF". Of course, the A-side of the "Only" single" and a live "LINE" on that single are like the exceptions.
I think that somewhat rare vinyl singles exist of "THTF" that also include "Home" on them. At least I found that on the same web site as the one I tried looking up when I went downtown and found out about "Frances the Mute" existing on the Mars Volta's "Widow" single.

Nuts, I totally forgot to get that album. I'll be heading to Circuit City today, because they have the lowest cost, plus you get a free t-shirt with it. I'll pick up 2 of 'em.

It's Triple A live sampler season and I have four sitting right here on my countertop, all the west coast ones. KMTT/Seattle #11, KINK/Portland #8, KFOG/San Francisco #12, and the station I don't listen to anymore due to playing "Sk8er Boi," KPRI/San Diego #3 acquired today from Borders downtown. Coming in the mail sooner or later will be the ones from KGSR/Austin #13, WBOS/Boston #3 and WXRT/s***cago #8. The others aren't available by mail, but my sister is picking me up WMMM/Madison #5. The tracklisting of KTCZ/Minneapolis #17 doesn't make me too sad that I probably won't be able to get it, and I'm mad that I can't get KCBO/Denver #17. Anyone in Denver wanna pick it up for me? I'll pay you, of course. I don't think I'll be picking up either of the Hot AC ones (KLLC/San Francisco and KYSR/Los Angeles) unless I find money to burn because I do not need two CDs with live performances of "Lonely No More," "She Will Be Loved," or "Lady." This year it looks like the best one is KINK's with live versions of three of my #1s, "Gonna Be Some Changes Made," "Life Less Ordinary," and "Run," though I am looking forward to WXRT's because it has a live version of "Fascination Street."

I don't actually own the Korn one but know a lot of the songs & have heard it in full a few times, mainly because a bit before Christmas, I heard that a lot while playing on a relative's Xbox360 lots. But then there's the ones I really did buy and/or got during the time since my post: System of a Down - Hypnotize Pixies - Surfer Rosa Air - Moon Safari (I used to use my dad's copy. Now I've got my own This & above were part of a "2 for $22" deal at Borders.)Hot Hot Heat - Scenes One Through Thirteen (gift from my sister & her husband)Faith No More - The Real Thing Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (I may be the only one who still buys cassettes (other than a few of my friends), but why not when you get those used ones for $1.99?)

Faith No More - The Real Thing Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (I may be the only one who still buys cassettes (other than a few of my friends), but why not when you get those used ones for $1.99?)I know dude! 6 years ago, that's how I got used cassette copies of Aaliyah's Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, Wreckx-N-Effect's Hard or Smooth, Kris Kross' Totally Krossed Out, and I first took the plunge on Skid Row's debut album. Then a spot on about the sixth track was wearing out (always a gamble with used tapes), so I bought a CD copy a couple months later. Anywho, my latest acquisitions are: Avenged Sevenfold - Warmness on the Soul (EP) Atreyu - Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty (EP) (My bro got me those two hard-to-find EPs for Christmas, so now my collection of both bands is complete.J.S. Bach - The Ultimate Organ Collection (Anthony Newman, Organ) (Christmas gift from Mom&Dad)And my friend burned me Hot Hot Heat's Elevator and Rise Against's Revolutions per Minute on the same disc and gave it to me on Tuesday and I burned Kanye West's Late Registration off him, just today, squeezing in one last CD for the year.

Now that all the Media Play stores are closing, all their CD's are 50% off. Most of it's been thoroughly picked through already, but here's what I was able to come up with.
Transplants - Haunted Cities [$8.99] (After the 50% off. They have CD's priced that high to begin with and probably wonder why they had to go out of business.) Eighteen Visions - Obsession [$6.99] Eighteen Visions - Vanity [$6.99] Sugarcult - Start Static (used) [$2.99]
If anyone needs to get the new Scott Stapp or Ryan Crabera albums, Media Play's the place to go. Probably about 70 copies of each still on the stands. Lol. Half off and they still couldn't move those albums. Looks like another factor in what made the company go under.

Media Play stores?
Looks like you got some pretty good stuff lately. I can't afford to spend much, but I'm looking to get two new ones that come out next Tuesday.

It's a division of the Musicland Group (which also includes Sam Goody's and Suncoast). Think big box music, movies, books, video games, and related accessories. I don't know how widespread they are (or were); apparently there were 61 stores in 18 states. There's 2 in Toledo and several more scattered all over the Detroit area.
I'll miss them because every now and then they'd have a sale with all kinds of import singles for $1.00. With the occasional good deal on full length CD's and games.

Okay, since the last post:
Ministry - The Land of Rape & Honey (Well it appears I found it afterall, in spite being out of print & such.) Tripping Daisy - I Am an Elastic Firecracker (authentic. Got burned Jan. '05 w/ a few extra tracks. $1 CD used, exactly.) New Order - Technique System of a Down - Steal This Album! Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West (authentic copy. Got it burned last May. All 3 MM albums I now have had were all $8.99, interestingly enough)
To replace stolen copies: Basement Jaxx - Remedy U2 - Achtung Baby

Since my last post: My Chemical Romance - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love (The jewel case promptly fell apart as soon as I took off the plastic wrap. )...and today: She Wants Revenge - She Wants RevengeHawthorne Heights - If Only You Were Lonely (I bought the "guy version" of the album - the one whose album cover has the guy sleeping alone instead of the girl. I find it ridiculous that you have to buy two copies of the CD just to join the liner notes together to get the full story of what happens. They have the same CDs and the same bonus DVDs (I think), just the f***ing album booklets are different. Good job, Victory.)

Wow, Victory sucks (although the post is more about the music industry and how it rips off REAL music fans). I can't believe that's supposed to be even considered an independent. The acts on there aren't terrible, but quit ripping off the true fans!! I know that Good Charlotte had a similar thing with how The Chronicles of Life and Death had two versions and there was a different track on both copies. It could almost be accused of a sellout move by the people who are there for the music.
You know what's just as bad that NOT ONLY Victory does? Re-issuing albums that aren't even that old. It's ridiculous. Modest Mouse's The Moon & Antarctica should've been left alone until there was really enough stuff to be known from the vaults, or better yet, wait for a deluxe version that also included Everywhere and His Nasty Parlor Tricks. It was only 4 years old, so there was no business in adding four mostly unnecessary BBC tracks. Great albums with positive legacies that have been out for 10 years or longer don't necessarily have extended versions. Look at Violator, Siamese Dream, and Odelay. And all albums sold well, 'nuff said.
Sorry to be getting off-topic, but I just had to mention that.

The All American Rejects - Move Along Switchfoot - Nothing Is Sound Yellowcard - Lights and Sounds I bought the limited edition of The Killers' Hot Fuss at some point within the past 8 months, although I don't remember whether or not it was after this topic was started.
I might finally get Fall Out Boy's From Under the Cork Tree soon, and Panic! At The Disco also seems like a logical next step.

Post by crash46 on Apr 10, 2006 0:35:45 GMT -4
since January:
Bleeding Through - The Truth Panic! At The Disco - Fever You Can't Sweat Out Gorillaz - Demon Days Thrice - Vheissu Atreyu - Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses Atreyu - The Curse (I guess that Victory promo disc would count too) Atreyu - A Death-Grip On Yesterday Mindshift - (self titled, I guess) The Foo Fighters - In Your Honour (burned) The Distillers - Coral Fang (burned) Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (burned)
The Thrice CD and first two Atreyu CD's were for $7 and $10, so I had to jump on those, knowing I'd never come close to either of those deals. They slightly redeemed what turned out to be a very disappointing Taste Of Chaos show (along with a giveaway Atreyu poster that I've put a frame around).
Mindshift is a local band that was an opener for 30 Seconds To Mars, and, to put it nicely, they'll likely stay a local band as long as they're trying. But they were passing out their CD for free (burned on store-bought CD-R's) and I'd feel like a total dick had I not taken it.
I burned the Foos (copy protection my ass...) and Distillers off my sister; I think I let her get Hypnotize and Demon Days in return. I got Arctic Monkeys from my girlfriend's friend at work after I burned him Scab Dates, without hesitation because I think it's only fitting since The Mars Volta ('s label) tattoos their artwork with copyright warnings and security tags
