While you guys are still waiting for "Just Dance" to hit #1, Lady GaGa's second single is already #1 here in Canada! Of course, I hear this song everywhere I go and I can't stop listening to it either. The production sounds just like "Just Dance", so of course I love it lol. Will she get another big hit in the US too? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngf5Oo_XrjI

A couple people at Pulse think she'll be a one hit wonder because acts like Cascada, DHT, etc. were. Those are both Eurodance though, and Lady Gaga's music is much more poppy techno, so I don't think she'll have a problem getting another hit. Good song too.

I'd rather "Just Dance" be #1, personally.

Haha, don't worry, I was only searching for the song "Poker Face" to download where it turned up the Swollen Members version as a result. Swollen Members hadn't even crossed my mind since 2001 or so, but they still have the most ridiculous name for an artist I have ever seen. There have been some other close calls, but at least Engelbert Humperdinck and Madeline Pereyoux were born with their names.

At least Engelbert Humperdinck was born with his name. The original German composer, yes. However the 60s & 70s pop singer was born Arnold George Dorsey.

This is one of my favorite songs right now, and I don't even know why.

Yeah, I love this song. (For some reason on AT40, they play a version where in the (post?)-chorus, she doesn't say "face." Instead, "poker" just echoes. Like this: "Pa-pa-pa-poker (poker, poker), pa-pa-poker (poker, poker)." It's so weird. There may even be other slight differences elsewhere in the song.)

And it's #1. Her next single "LoveGame" is already Top 10 in Canada. Can she score 3 #1's in a row?

My only complaint about this song might be that it sounds just a little like "Just Dance" in some parts. Otherwise, if I were still doing personal charts (and I haven't said I'm not, except for the two years since I've last posted one ), this'd be #1 for me right now. It even got me to check out her album on last.fm.

I like "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" a lot, but, so far, am glad I didn't buy the album for cheap, because it's alarmingly shallow. I dunno, obviously there's not a whole lot of introspection in those first two singles, but I just expected her music to have more integrity, more to offer.
And this clip Sunny posted was just self-indulgent s*** that I couldn't wait for to end.

Yeah, it was annoying when that Buffy tried doing that last year, except that GaGa isn't as good at it.

I was in the UK a couple weeks ago and I heard a version of this song that omits all the parts that go "pa-pa-pa-poker pa-pa-poker face" as well as the "rap" part.

I finally added "Poker Face" to my "streaming-All-Access-at-work" playlist. I was wondering why Gaga hasn't really resonated with me when I realized I subconsciously wasn't even giving her a chance to resonate. There's still hope for some decent success for her on my chart, although I doubt this will surpass "Just Dance" for me (although that barely even made my chart). There's also a Kevin Figuereido remix of the song that's pretty decent. He's the same one that remixed "Kill the Lights", which has gone top 20 on my chart in 3 weeks. I can't get to YouTube from here, but his remix is at www.youtube.com/the401drummer.

How about Jarvis Church? Edit: Most of these are Canadian The Swollen Members, Rainbow Buttmonkeys, and Jarvis Church. I thought Madeleine Peyroux was French Canadian too but no, she's just French. But for kicks, here's what she looks like in Canada:
