I just noticed today that Steve and myself (as well as penance, TGAC, and...*sigh* Artie ) were nominated in Pulse's member awards "Best Alternative/Rock poster" category. I'm flattered. And surprised I hadn't been told already. I also noticed Ethan, Matt, and Andrew pick up at least a nomination or two in other categories. If anybody else was nominated, forgive me for overlooking it. I read about halfway and then skimmed the rest, fatigued from recognizing so few of the names. I didn't know myself until I woke up this morning and noticed I had a PM from Pulse to inform me of the news. And to ask if I would be presenting again this year. God, I don't even know where I'd begin to think about what to do this time (and I'd never had to present myself as a nominee, either). Last year it was seriously two days before the show was going on that I came up with anything at all, but for whatever reason, everybody loved it. After that, I sought out the official list of nominees, thinking we could do the SMB endorsements thing again. But I too had severe issues recognizing many of these people that were nominated. Yeah, that Artie. Artie's only redeeming value last year was humor he accidentally started with seemingly everything he wrote. Now this year it seems as though most of us have simply accepted Artie's schtick as simply Artie being Artie, and realized it's hardly ever worth arguing with him anymore, and thus, the comedic value has almost disappeared. So yeah, anyone but Artie.

TGAC should be ineligible for Alternative Poster, due to his name coming from the chorus to Paris Hilton's "Stars Are Blind". And for rarely posting in the alternative forum. The same can be said about the last two years when he won the award as well. I do like the guy's posts a lot, and there are plenty of other awards I'll probably vote for him in. But alternative poster belongs to someone who actually posts there a lot. (side note: "Star Are Blind" was a surprisingly good song as much as I hate to admit it.)

If y'all feel like killing time, I just put a name that tune game up in Pulse's Personal Charts forum as my contribution to decade-end nostalgia. Plugging it here because it's based mainly on my listening habits, so I imagine you stand a better shot than the average Pulse popster.

While she has my current standing #1 song of the week ("Already Gone"), I'm not an uber-fan of Kelly Clarkson's. (She certainly didn't deserve the lion's share of those Pulse Decade Awards she won.) A fan? sure. Less so than I was maybe 2 or 3 years ago? Yes. It helps that she's usually pretty hot and seems like she's one of the most down-to-earth of the pop stars of her level of success.
However, if her description of her next album ends up being true a year from now (which she admits is usually never the case), when it's ideally to be released, I could love her music more than ever before. In an mtv.com article today (which I won't hyperlink, because there's really no substance in it), Kelly describes the direction she wants to go in for her next album as "Garbage-meets-pop-meets-Muse."
Now, let's assume that she doesn't stray from that description. I would be over the moon if that turns out even 1/3 as good as it reads on paper.

I would be over the moon if that turns out even 1/3 as good as it reads on paper. Even if the one-third we get is just the pop part? Then it'd be exactly the same as what we're getting right now! That does sound interesting though. Hell, I'm cool enough with her just being aware of those bands (not that I ever thought she wasn't, it's just how she's saying it publicly now).

Yeah, the problem with these award shows (one of the problems, at least), is that the winners aren't always elected by their peers.

I hate how mentally challenged last.fm is with regard to time zones.

So in the last 2 weekends of '09, AT40 is supposed to run the Top 100 songs of 2009. The first weekend of January, then, AT40 will count down the 100 biggest songs of the decade.
This weekend is supposed to be the Top 50 of '09. The program comes on and it's the goddamn first half all over again: #100-51.
In the words of Mr. Dewey on that episode of Saved by the Bell where the gang forgets Screech's birthday, I'm so mad I could spit nails. Seriously. Of all the weeks to not have the current show. KSLZ can go to hell.

I know it doesn't take the place of actually listening to the countdown, but the second half of the countdown is here: pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pop&action=display&thread=92133

Already knew about that topic, but I appreciate the heads up all the same. I emailed both KSLZ and the AT40 staff (not expecting responses, let alone suggestions/accomodations, from either), but thanks to PMB user "richie," it looks like I might be in OK shape after all.

Looking back over my year-end chart, I think 2006 was the weakest year for music this decade.

According to a message posted by Zacky Vengeance on the band's MySpace page, the group was hard a work on a fifth album. By Monday evening, whispers about Sullivan's death had spread to the band's fan sites on the Internet, which quickly filled with messages of condolence.

+1. I was truly heartbroken upon hearing this news. It left me no choice but to just sit down late last night and listen to all of his music in his memory until the wee hours of the morning. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

I couldn't imagine doing anything else. If you and Matt are on board, can we move these previous three posts into a new thread of its own? I'd like to say some more, but to continue this in here any further, I feel, defeats the purpose of a "spontaneous" conception and this is of enough significance, I would think, to merit a topic for the Rev, even if it ends up being just me and Steve talking in there. Plus, in the future, I might like to quickly find this story and discussion without wading through pages of spontaneous conceptions.

Individual posts can't be moved, unfortunately. You're welcome to create a new thread for this anyway, of course.
